    I can't believe I found a 1992 Honda Prelude automatic radiator replacement video. I'm going to attemp this on my 92 Honda Prelude. Thanks for this video.

    I've been doing my own auto work for decades, and never thought to take everything off/out through the top! Thanks for the tip!

    Nice work. I owned an '88 Accord that had a brake bleeder nipple at the highest point in the coolant system so you could remove all air following any service without opening the cooling system anywhere else! What a sweet design that was.

    I never did this but as a precaution I would put a piece of cardboard on the exposed radiator side to prevent any fins from getting damaged.

    Great video as usual. Perfect time to change the lower radiator hose too--especially if there is no access from the bottom. Having to do this whole procedure to change a hose is a pain, so good insurance to just do it.

    Great tip on putting the clamps back in same spots over the indents on the old hoses 👍

    Nice one. Glad you're back working on cars. Better than growing plants 👍. You need to buy frame machine and paint booth and start repairing heavily crashed luxury and exotic cars from auction. Theres the money now on TH-cam.. But 15-16 years of general mechanics work videos got TH-cam overflowing. Nobodys watching anymore. Any young brat makes videos for repairing and diagnostic. Consider this 👍

    Actually the easiest way to change a radiator is have someone else do it while you relax in the shade enjoying a tasty beverage.

    I suggest a solid aluminum radiator. Those plastic top and bottom radiators always leak.

      By the time the replacement radiator leaks the car is scrap

    Might as well drain the coolant too and replace that so the new rad is getting good juice.

    Make sure the bolts are the right ones. If they are too long they might hit a part of the plastic or aluminum and cause a leak.

    • @myRatchets
      @myRatchets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Use the old bolts its just those nutz you have to use.

    Great video i like all your vids MY QUESTION is at 5:23 how can we lose transmission fluid,isnt it the coolant line to the transmission? Do you mean lose coolant or transmission fluid? Thanks

    • @ThomasSheehan-j1r
      @ThomasSheehan-j1r 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      both engine coolant and transmission fluid run thru separate passes in radiator.trans fluid acts as both lube for transmission as well as cooling fluid for the trans because of the pass it makes thru radiator.motor oil is how engine is lubricated but water/antifreeze is pushed thru engine block to carry away excess heat via the radiator.so both engine coolant and trans fluid are being pumped thru radiator same time,separate passages.

    10:40 why are the fans different? One fan has four blades, the other has 5 and the motors look different. Was one of them replaced before or is there another reason?

    • @jasonrm999
      @jasonrm999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Usually with 2+ fans the larger/more powerful is triggered via coolant temp, the other is for when the AC compressor comes on to cool the condenser, as well as to give auxiliary cooling to the radiator.
