Hey, loved this reaction and hope you do the rest of the album. It’s really amazing that it’s her debut and at her age how good it is. Of course you have to put it into context that she wrote most of it at 17 so even as a 31 year old I really enjoyed. So just wanted to say the connection between her and Taylor is just that she’s a huge Taylor fan and that she’s heavily inspired by Taylor as a writer and her music. It may not be that obvious to everyone but for other huge Taylor fans it’s a little clearer to see the influence in her writing like that very descriptive/vivid, specific, creative, honest sense of storytelling that’s easily relatable because of the way they break it down. There’s also a track called 1 step forward 3 steps back where she interpolated the music from Taylor’s song New Years Day for it. So otherwise the connection may not be obvious in the sound/production/style but it’s definitely in the songwriting.

I think it can be looked at in a young, naive sense but I don't think that's the only way the lyrics apply. As a 40 something who has done decades of self growth... I have still had a relationship that just... wrecked me because it was so deep and connected, that you are taken somewhere special together, and that place is so sacred. Yes, it's a bit of ego, but it's more about the grief of that sacred thing being re-written.
