I really don’t think “happier” is supposed t be petty. I think it’s supposed to be her showing acceptance of losing him, she understands that she’s lost him and wants him to be happy. What a beautifully written album 😍. But Joshua doesn't deserve the hate he gets. Olivia's side of the story is valid but there are obviously parts of the story we might never get to hear. Hearts break even when good guys are involved. People like people and sometimes it doesn't work out. And sometimes nothing we say can save us from the fall-out. Two days ago, it turned a year since my cousin committed suicide. Yes it seems like that is what happened, but we should be careful and not present it as a fact. Sabrina (who wouldn't even be the person who is to blame for the whole thing) has gotten death threads because of this situation and Joshua also got a lot of hate. Olivia said that even though her songs are based on real feelings they are not necessarily based on reality, "deja vu" for example is about seeing someone you had a relationship with move on and do all the things you did together, with someone else, which is rooted in real feelings, but the relationship and the scenarios are mostly fictional and not based on her experience. I did theatre in high school where I was friends with everyone and they started to date and break up and date other people and we did a great job at realizing their breakups don’t have a reflection on how we should feel about the people in the relationship (unless one took advantage of the other or abused them in some way which is a different scenario) but a lot of the time it just doesn’t work. Especially when you’re young and barley know yourself let alone what you want from a partner. Some get lucky and find the one for them and I truly am jealous of that (but supportive) but it doesn’t make the person who broke up with the other evil. You can’t hate people who did nothing to you. I would rather my friend break up with my other friend then watch them stay and pretend to like them. Sometimes people just don’t work and that’s life. I hate when fans hate on their favs relationships or ex’s these people deserve to not get death threats from being normal people. I loved what you said!
She's mentioned in interviews that almost all of the songs were written when she was 17, so last year. They're definitely not all about Joshua or that relationship and I think that while they do relate to her experiences there is probably a lot added for artistic effect. She wrote happier when she was 16 and Brutal at 18 but all of them are relatively recent.

But Joshua doesn't deserve the hate he gets. Olivia's side of the story is valid but there are obviously parts of the story we might never get to hear. Hearts break even when good guys are involved.

I personally have never been in a toxic/or abusive romantic relationship, but I have had toxic and abusive friendships, and this abulm still hits me hard because of the songwriting; Its amazing to me how all albums about toxic/abusive relationships and/or heartbreak can still hit the mark of people in or have been in a toxic/abusive friendship, and how it can even hit people who haven't been in bad relationshipsor friendships. It also is surprising that an abulm can bring out these kind of emotions within that i didnt even know a human could feel, specifically being of someone who is still in high-school.
Two days ago, it turned a year since my cousin committed suicide. The fact that he was only up the road from me , yet we never talked because it was so much of an age gap was always heartbreaking for me. He didn't spend much time with his parents and brother, yet the week before he died he spent the week with them. You really never know whether someone is genuinely okay. Make sure to check on those who you may of not talked to in a while.

Sabrina (the girl Joshua is allegedly started dating after Olivia) is not part of the HMTMTS cast. She also is a Disney star, but I am not sure she was part of any Disney projects recently. Also all the relationship drama is rumored, none of the people involved in it have confirmed that they dated. Yes it seems like that is what happened, but we should be careful and not present it as a fact. Sabrina (who wouldn't even be the person who is to blame for the whole thing) has gotten death threads because of this situation and Joshua also got a lot of hate. Olivia said that even though her songs are based on real feelings they are not necessarily based on reality, "deja vu" for example is about seeing someone you had a relationship with move on and do all the things you did together, with someone else, which is rooted in real feelings, but the relationship and the scenarios are mostly fictional and not based on her experience. The strawberry ice cream in Malibu or watching reruns of glee are just things she and her producer came up with and people often still read things into it.

I think the changing of tones represents an actual breakup well, when you breakup you go from being angry to sad several times, and this gets that well
I really love how the album ended. Like the first 10 songs were about her, her heartbreak and her insecurities and the last song is about other people who have had worse luck than her. And how the last note was reminiscent of the first notes of drivers license- the song that started this whole thing.

I did theatre in high school where I was friends with everyone and they started to date and break up and date other people and we did a great job at realizing their breakups don’t have a reflection on how we should feel about the people in the relationship (unless one took advantage of the other or abused them in some way which is a different scenario) but a lot of the time it just doesn’t work. Especially when you’re young and barley know yourself let alone what you want from a partner. Some get lucky and find the one for them and I truly am jealous of that (but supportive) but it doesn’t make the person who broke up with the other evil. You can’t hate people who did nothing to you. I would rather my friend break up with my other friend then watch them stay and pretend to like them. Sometimes people just don’t work and that’s life. I hate when fans hate on their favs relationships or ex’s these people deserve to not get death threats from being normal people. I loved what you said!

She's mentioned in interviews that almost all of the songs were written when she was 17, so last year. They're definitely not all about Joshua or that relationship and I think that while they do relate to her experiences there is probably a lot added for artistic effect. She wrote happier when she was 16 and Brutal at 18 but all of them are relatively recent.
