This show was a huge part of my childhood and this is really the first time I've heard someone else talk about it. I can understand how people would think that its creepy but I loved it and I think it really shaped my asthetic and my interests (horror, surrealist art, etc)
I just had a massive recollection of seeing this show one time in a hotel I stayed at for the night and I could not figure out what was going on or what it was called. Thank you for putting that mystery to rest.

The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the Eddie Bull segment. Not even the segment itself but for some reason, the shapes that float in the background. Idk I dont understand my brain sometimes lol
Oh God I remember this show, in fact I remember maybe some shows from HBO when I was younger, this one being "Crashbox", a "I-Spy" book related show, "A Little Curious", and many more.. And yes, it was odd, like in my opinion all of it was odd, like they surely went out of the box with this show.. Some things were a bit creepy to me, but not as much as the "Slob", oh dear I can't explain it, he was just terrifying, and still terrifying to me today! Heck, I even had a nightmare about a mix between him and Ernie from Sesame Street I think for some reason, I don't know why but I can't still remember them.. Seriously, the rest of the characters where fine for me except for the Slob.
I loved crashbox but I distinctly remember changing the channel and waiting for the the revolting slob segment to be over before I changed it back. Revisiting this years later with OCD was a nightmare.
I’ve been trying to find this show all my life, I remember my uncle used to watch this with me when I was a baby, but years passed and I forgot what it was called. U just unlocked my nostalgia, so thank u dawg
Man, even though I can never remember the name of this show, one thing I’ll always remember is seeing the revolting slob as a child while my mom combed my hair. He grossed me out, so I had to look away from the tv.
Thank you for covering this! I've brought this show up to so many people just to get greeted with a never heard of it. This and A Little Curious were really good shows for it's time
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH MY GOD!!!!!! I remember watching this as a kid, and I liked it, but was also freaked out by it. I also remember seeing this show about Fairy Tales, that was called Happily Ever After or something, and is actually on HBO Max. It was well known fairy tales, reimagined into settings from other countries, like Africa and China. But man, this was a nostalgia trip! I actually remember trying to look for it online once, but I couldn’t find it because I thought it was called Matchbox instead of Crash Box
I vividly remember crashbox but as a kid I recalled one more host? Likely kid me mixing shows but I saw the animation and was absolutely sure I'd hear about a skeleton pirate host that would get into some math related hijinks. Guy never really scared me but he stood out in a way that makes me want to find him again.
This brought back a flood of memories, back to the days where I would binge watch the "Magnet" programming block that HBO Family had for teens afte school. This was one of the shows that aired on that block, and I missed it dearly. Thank you for bringing back some happy memories, and making me realize that I wasn't the only fan of shows like this.
Ah, yesss! I remember watching this show at my Nana's in the early morning as a kid, it went so fast my little ADHD brain loved it despite the creepy imagery
I loved this show and it’s look so much as a kid. I’ve always been fascinated with the dark and uncanny so it never bothered me, but I can definitely see how some kids had a less then stellar reaction to its artistic style.
OMG I haven't seen this in years I always thought it was a fever dream or something >.< This show absolutely scared the shit out of me as a kid but I also really love how creative it was and still have nostalgia for it, Thank you for reminding me of this show!
HOLY SHET THIS WAS MY CHILDHOO- I loved this show. Especially the Jamaican Guy, the Pirate Skeleton, that Sketch Pad dude. But as a kid I was terrified of the Revolting Slob.
God . Crashbox. I remember, during summers when I was a kid, my family and I would go out to our house by the barn we had. I had a little shitbox TV in my tiny room in that house, and I remember I’d be up bright and early to watch crashbox every damn time I could find it. It was always at a weird near-twilight or late-early nighttime hour, when that summer smell starts emanating through your window screen and it’s not pitch black out but you can still notice the stark difference between the surrounding navy haze and the fireflies twinkling out in the grass. This show brought me more comfort that I think I could ever express and I really don’t know why. I think it was just the setting I always watched it in and how the aesthetic and characters always enthralled me. Without crashbox I’d be an entirely different person, honestly. That show is gold.
I watched Crashbox so much as a kid, and I'd like to thank you for reminding me of this show once again. This show rarely freaked me out, though knowing how weird it got I probably got a little unnerved at some points. Don't have HBO now sadly so I'm unable to watch/stream it, but it is something I'd love to rewatch someday.
i used to watch this show at my grandma's when i was younger, but i only remember it coming on pretty late at night, which added to the absurdity of the show. honestly glad you made a traumathon vid abt it bc not a lot of ppl i know actually remember this show
The thing that traumatized me as a kid the most was the comic series Marvel zombies, The idea of all the heroes I love turning into zombies and sentient zombies at that who Just wanted to consume me was terrifying enough, But then in Marvel zombies versus the army of darkness not only did the power pack get turned into zombies but also my favorite Marvel character at the time Howard the duck, and he ate ash's brain in graphic detail, I love ash and howard the duck so that seen fucked with me for years and still does to this day
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! I love hearing people talk about it. Knowing that I wasn't the only one who knew this show existed makes me so happy. I remember setting a timer on the TV so I wouldn't miss a SINGLE episode. My parents didn't always have enough money to get all the channels, so I would binge-watch all my fav shows before they were gone. I'm actually surprised that people thought that this show was scary. Then again, I am the kid who watched every horror kid show I could find. And then there were all the clown shows I loved like The Big Comfy Couch.
This was my favorite show though I’m pretty sure one of the shorts was scary and I think it was the haunted house one, it wasn’t the whole short just on of the characters they cut to, that and one of the guys that fixed the lights
I don't know how I missed you posting this! I think about this show all the time. When I was younger I was never really scared of the Revolting Slob, I actually remembered liking the skit! The news woman definitely is a bit creepy to look at. But of course, I was terrified by the submarine skit. Not just the host himself, but just the lighting and the feel of the scene. The faces on the wall singing as he did his thing. It always creeped me out as a kid...
I've been looking for this show everywhere you finally digged it out from the recesses of my mind. It used to really creep me out as a kid, waking up to it anyways. Great video, as always!
Bro thanks a bunch for covering this show, ahaha! The nostalgia! While I wouldn't say I was 'scared' of it as a kid, I would say some of the segments made me uncomfortable and unnerved.
THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME ABOUT THIS SHOW! I LOVED this show so much as a kid. My mom was terminally ill my whole childhood, so when my dad and I would visit the hospital (which was a lot) I remember this show and that one show about the fairy tails. I need to watch this again lol. I very very specifically remember the revolting slob haha.
Thank you so much for bringing this show up, it was so underrated and childhood me loved it. I was a weird kid (even weirder adult) so things like Crash Box, Invader Zim, etc. Was my jam. I think I may revisit it since it is on HBO Max.
I watched Crashbox all the time as a kid! The steampunkesque robots building in the transitions between each skit especially caught my eye, but I can definitely see how someone would find the Crashbox characters creepy. Thank you for this awesome nostalgia trip!
omg im so happy you covered this, ive been telling my gf about this show for awhile now because it terrified me when i was a child. ive always been afraid of stop motion, but i loved this show in particular. i would watch it until the revolting slob came on, then i would scream and either run out of my nana's family room or i would shut off the tv completely. my gf thought i was recounting a fever dream until i suddenly remembered the segment and showed it to her.
LMAOOOO the Revolting Slob segment scared the absolute shit out of me as a kid!! I was so fascinated with Crashbox but when his segment came on I'd hide or close my eyes until it was over. The intro where the brain gets squashed by the tv or whatever it was also disturbed me for whatever reason. Traumathon is so much fun but this is the one I've been best able to relate to! Man, even though I can never remember the name of this show, one thing I’ll always remember is seeing the revolting slob as a child while my mom combed my hair. He grossed me out, so I had to look away from the tv.
I remember I used to visit my grandpa's house and he had HBO, I loved to watch Crashbox. God, this show was great.
Thank you for covering this! I've brought this show up to so many people just to get greeted with a never heard of it. This and A Little Curious were really good shows for it's time
3:42 I love how the french accent turns into a latin-american accent XD
OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH MY GOD!!!!!! I remember watching this as a kid, and I liked it, but was also freaked out by it. I also remember seeing this show about Fairy Tales, that was called Happily Ever After or something, and is actually on HBO Max. It was well known fairy tales, reimagined into settings from other countries, like Africa and China. But man, this was a nostalgia trip! I actually remember trying to look for it online once, but I couldn’t find it because I thought it was called Matchbox instead of Crash Box
Ok,
*I grew up with this show*
*and I somehow loved it*
I vividly remember crashbox but as a kid I recalled one more host? Likely kid me mixing shows but I saw the animation and was absolutely sure I'd hear about a skeleton pirate host that would get into some math related hijinks. Guy never really scared me but he stood out in a way that makes me want to find him again.
I remember that too he would do math with his bones or something
@@jameer7565I think I heard of this online before I don’t remember what it is
I used to love this show when I was a kid and when I got the notification for this video I got so many memories,,
This brought back a flood of memories, back to the days where I would binge watch the "Magnet" programming block that HBO Family had for teens afte school.
I’ve always been fascinated with the dark and uncanny so it never bothered me, but I can definitely see how some kids had a less then stellar reaction to its artistic style.
my brother, me, and my dad always watched Crashbox on Sundays when we saw each other
OMG I haven't seen this in years I always thought it was a fever dream or something >.< This show absolutely scared the shit out of me as a kid but I also really love how creative it was and still have nostalgia for it, Thank you for reminding me of this show!
OH MY GOD I REMEMBER THIS SHOW!
I LOVED IT SO MUCH AINSXHDUHWBUISNX!!!
HOLY SHET THIS WAS MY CHILDHOO-
I loved this show. Especially the Jamaican Guy, the Pirate Skeleton, that Sketch Pad dude. But as a kid I was terrified of the Revolting Slob.
3:45 you sound like one of “Vargskelethor” Vinesauce Joel’s voice impressions lol.
God .
Woah. I thought I was the only one who knew about this show. It feels almost like Candle Cove for me.
BRO THAT SHIT IS MY JAM
i used to beg my grandma to see if chrashbox is on
Burnt in more ways than one Jamaican man: lol Wow
The Slob: Ew. Just ew.
Screen shot of Mr. Meaty: *Back foul creature!*
This show was amazing
i used to watch this show at my grandma's when i was younger, but i only remember it coming on pretty late at night, which added to the absurdity of the show. honestly glad you made a traumathon vid abt it bc not a lot of ppl i know actually remember this show
The thing that traumatized me as a kid the most was the comic series Marvel zombies, The idea of all the heroes I love turning into zombies and sentient zombies at that who Just wanted to consume me was terrifying enough, But then in Marvel zombies versus the army of darkness not only did the power pack get turned into zombies but also my favorite Marvel character at the time Howard the duck, and he ate ash's brain in graphic detail, I love ash and howard the duck so that seen fucked with me for years and still does to this day
The pizza from Jimmy Neutron scared me as a kid, so much so that I couldn't watch the show because I was terrified of coming across that episode
Oh my gosh. I loved this show. Im so happy you covered it. This show deserves more attention so thank you. ^^
This is a real nostalgia trip, I loved this show as a kid!
This brought lovely memories dude. I MISSED this show it was glorious and so fascinating to look at (especially as a young art baby)
Crashbox was the single weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. I still don’t understand how it was even aired or allowed for kids.
Crashbox is more weird than creepy but I can see why people think it is unnerving.
Thank you so much for bringing this show up, it was so underrated and childhood me loved it. I was a weird kid (even weirder adult) so things like Crash Box, Invader Zim, etc. Was my jam. I think I may revisit it since it is on HBO Max.
thank you for making these videos! they're getting me through the month tbh
Super excited
