Here we are, the third and final part of my GTA IV retrospective series. This would end up being my favorite of the series. Let me know your thoughts and if you agree. May combine all three videos if enough people are interested.

Luis is definitely one of their best protagonists. Hes intimidating but He’s genuinely such a nice guy, minus all the murders lol
Louis has the charisma of a wet towel, he'd be the most boring hd universe protagonist if there wasn't Franklin
hes the most humble character out of them all also, hes just a normal guy at the end of the day when u look at his personality as a character

Finally, someone who shares my view on this mission score system. I think this "you must complete the mission the way we want it" mentality started in tbogt led to GTA v missions to be so linear and to have a mission failed message if you try a different approach
It was something that really soured by experience with GTA 5, like GTA is supposed to be about mayhem and going guns blazing. But oh no you didn't finish it fast enough or get enough headshots, here's a bronze medal. Was so lame.
@@fuzzyslippersyt Well, it was great in Tbogt, considering it was a DLC with and only 20 some missions to play, it was a fresh concept that actually gave a reason for missions to be replayed whenever later, while also adding a bit more challenge to them as an extra thing to do. But in full ass games like GTA 5 and RDR2 it was such a shit implementation, like excuse me Rockstar for not having accuracy in a game where mayhem and running and gunning is a core element.
@@Nacut6c That only works if the missions don't get bug out. Most the replayed mission get bugged out to the point where it's impossible to complete in the fashion they assume on the goals.
This is the definitive way to experience GTA IV. The guns, the vibrant colors, the buzzard. TBOGT is the best of the best.
TBoGT but with gta 4 story is what gta 4 should have been (what i think), gta 4 expect the story is a bit dry, tbogt had such more activities to do than gta 4

@@atv123 Gay Tony is fun but doesn't hold a candle to the base game. Niko and that campaign were just peak Grand Theft Auto. They honestly won't be able to top it. Red Dead 2 was the only other Rockstar game that came close

Hell no, Luis' mom is much, MUCH better than Ma Cipriani and genuinely cares about Luis

GTA IV really had the best memorable characters and better stories than V.
It more so the main intention of the story and 4 being more grounded

@@Jacob-wu3if You may not have meant to, but mentioning V in your praise of IV does come off as criticizing it, especially when hating V is the "cool" thing to do these days. If your intention truly isn't to shit on V, then next time just simply say, "I think GTA IV had the most memorable characters and the best story"; putting it like that will successfully get your point across without unfairly trashing another great game, one that was intentionally made to be different due to the amount of hate IV got for not being more like San Andreas.

Wow, not this video is a prime example of the word "underrated". I feel like this retrospective just gives a lot of great points and revisits this beautiful classic. Damn I would love to see Tony and Luis in GTA 6. I hope they don't let us down.

Im happy someone actually gave this game the time it deserves for a retrospective on each part. Luis is my favorite all time protagonist from gta cuz he feels the most human… definitely if you could scale the main gta characters i dont think hed have the highest bodycount or stand up to alot of them but l can legitimately feel like i am this guy lol
I remember all the forums online that used to say luis was the worst one and kind of a diq and i was confused on why lol

Without a doubt my absolute favorite GTA protagonist. I love TBOGT dlc so much, I’ve replayed it countless times and I never get tired of it.
Maybe the end game boss was supposed to represent how Nico and Luis mirror eachother in similar ways even though they're from different backgrounds, they cross similar paths and both of them still have heart for their fam. For Luis, being Tony since he was the closest thing to family member. That's just how i see it because i had a similar friend who saw me more as a brother, and he was. Sorry about the extra bit, good video.
You can actually learn what happened with the diamonds in the main story. There is a Weazel News report that a homeless man found the diamonds.
There's a cutscene in the final mission showing it

Brilliant comedian and actor.
This DLC and Lost and Damned made GTAIV for me and made RDR make a lot of in-world sense afterwards

@@DurzeoIn the OG Red Dead Redemption yes. He's not wearing traditional cowboy clothes except for the hat. He has a biker cut sleeveless jacket and flared pants. Coloured dark charcoal with pinstripes. He has more in common with Johnny Klebitz from TLaD than he does with John Wayne. He just happens to ride on horses instead of a chopper bike. And Dutch Van Der Linde is basically club leader Billy Grey redux. I realised pretty quickly they molded Marston to appeal to the modern GTA-player to help them ease into the world of the Old West.
TBOGT is hands down my favourite GTA anything. it's funny, got well written characters, effectively satirizes things of the time. It's perfectly tongue in cheek and it shows how despite how cooked the GTA protagonists are, they're ultimately pretty human, and Luis is humanized really well.
All of this plus the club aspect and vibe of the game make it my favorite gta anything too
There was so much personality with Luis' story. I loved the guns. I loved the concepts. I loved that whole expansion so much!.. It's like I cared about it more than the original. My favorite cheat was that damned APC😁

@FuzzySlippers It made sense for Luis not killing Rocco. Rocco is a made man in the Ancelotti's and if you kill a made man of a mafia they will never stop coming after you until you're dead. So that was realistic.

If you read the emails Luis has a brother and a sister who will give him shit too, but he mostly responds with well why aren't you here taking care of Momma.
Also in the base game we hear from a report from weazel news, that a guy/ homeless man found the diamond and became millionaire.

Ray Bulgari was my second fav character in this dlc. I just liked how he treated his right hand man like a good freind, and seemed so fun loving

I have fond memories of TBOGT, TLAD too. These DLC's were my introduction to GTA though it was confusing in places due to not playing GTA IV before but I did some time later and it only enhanced my experience with them. I really enjoyed the inter connectivity between all 3 protagonists stories.
TBOGT offers a different perspective on Liberty City. It's bright and lively in stark contrast to GTA IV and TLAD and reflects the life Luis Lopez lives. Living the high life of rubbing shoulders with the VIP's of LC and partying all night every night.
Yusuf is by far my favourite part of the DLC. His hilarious dialogue and antics always had me rolling and his missions were alot of fun too. It's a shame there were no open nightclubs in GTA V would of made LS feel more alive I think.
This is my favorite part of IV....
I don't know if you mentioned it, but the diamonds are actually one of the first things you see in GTA IV during the opening credits.
I would love to see more of Tony, Luis and Yusuf.
Tony is in Los Santos via GTAO, Yusuf we haven't SEEN but you can boost cars for him in GTAO...
Luis remains a mystery. You can find a picture of him on Tony's desk in your GTAO nightclub, but that's all...
I don't think we'll ever get closure on where he is, or what he's doing (despite just about everyone who lived from GTAIV apart from Noko and Roman showing up in GTAV).
Assuming they let Yusuf buy the rights to franchise the club, maybe we can get to see Luis managing the Vice City Maisonette 9😉
More likely Luis is holding down the fort in Liberty City Clubs while Tony is expanding to the west in SA and letting Luis control n monitor the East parts

I'm just hoping they tie in GTA VI somehow. Because TBoGT is still my favorite crew I would love to see more.
But when you think about it, R* has a habit of not bringing back any of the previous GTA protags. Except for poor Johnny, RIP!

The Ballad of Gay Tony was basically my first DLC to ever play and I loved it!!! not only was gta 4 my first gta I fully played when I was younger but I kinda (cringe) say some of Luis voice lines till this day.Overall great vid and Game

Fantastic video, very happy I stumbled across your channel when debating to revisit this classic. I've gone back to watch your main game retrospective also and am already interested in seeing a V retrospective too. I, like you, really dislike V for many reasons (just ignore that it's in my top five most played games of all time despite being my least favourite of the franchise haha) but I've never actually stopped to ask myself 'why?'. It's something worth exploring. Much love to you and your channel!
Edit: After watching this with the context of GTA Online, it's a huge let down that Tony and Luiz parted ways off screen, their chemistry was really one of a kind.
Glad you enjoyed the videos! A retrospective on V is in the cards, but it being such a longer game I'm debating approaching it as a retrospective and covering the whole game like I did with these 3 videos or a more condensed review, but we'll see what happens. Might be a while till I get around to it though.

Dude as someone who grew up in an area that wasnt really friendly to gay people - this game made me realize that gay people can be anything. What a wonderful story, it's not shoving it in your face, either.

This was definitely my favorite episode from Liberty city. It fixed everything that I didn't like about Grand Theft Auto IV with Niko Bellic. It didn't take itself too seriously, it wasn't afraid to be silly, and Yusef was the fucking man that crazy son of a bitch. This video just took me down memory lane and I honestly wish I could play it again. Would love to see Louise in the future game, but just hope to God they don't do him how they did Johnny.
GTA 4 main story is GOATED but the BOGT is very nice switch up an change of pace.

I’m Puerto Rican-American and Luis is the character I identify most with out of any video game. Even though Miles from Spider-Man is Puerto Rican I still relate to Luis more. They really nailed the moderately toxic Hispanic family dynamic including the emails between his siblings.

The music… the GUNS… the missions and it felt like a full game… amazing experience. Why don’t they do this … KEEP DOING IT. it’s all about online now… but we lived through these gems… everybody keep a Xbox 360 on hand because sheesh…. I have to agree Yusif Amir was actually a pretty great character.
There's an alternate version of the final mission. If you prepare beforehand and get a helicopter, you can blow Bulgarin's plane out of the sky and skip the sequence and parachuting

Not sure if you mention this because I’m a quarter of the way through the video but you forgot to mention sometime before the events of the game Luis was in the military as you can see him in a military uniform more specifically a marine uniform in pictures in his house which I thought was pretty cool because of what I remember he never really brings it up

bro why does EVERY gta recap video struggle with the easiest, 1 try, walk in the park missions but then gloss over the missions that took me hour(s) to complete like they were not notable at all 😭 ALSO NO WAY bro said Luis was more likable than Niko 🙄 Niko is a cutie who I feel like would not of turned out the way he did if he wasn't forced into war. Luis feels like always would've been like that and is kinda annoying, esp in his interactions with women
