The writer for watch dogs did extremely well in terms of taking inspiration from Walter whites downfall and reflecting that into Aiden pierces sciopathic nature the story was amazing and the dlc is so underrated I’d love a direct sequel to 1 with the council of Dave’s

I feel like I say this about a lot of characters but Aiden is done perfectly. You can argue that his character wasn't the right fit for the story (I'd still disagree) but you cannot say he wasn't played and written well. Sure he's boring and bland and blah blah blah, thats the point and it was done well. I'll never understand the people who can't decipher between their dislike for something and that thing actually being good or bad. I don't love Aidens character but its done well and I can respect that.

@@alessandrocanale6189 no your niece or nephew is the child of your sibling and your grandchildren are your children’s children
I really liked Aiden's revenge story and how it was shown to affect him and his family life, it feels how someone in his situation could act. In a DLC for Watch Dogs Legion if I'm not mistaken, we're shown how deep Aiden was affected by the death of his niece, he's shown digging a grave and constantly replaying the moment he shot Maurice in his head over and over, as if it's the only thought that tells him "I did all I could" to bring himself comfort because he knows it was his fault but still blames himself for her death. The way he acts as being stoic and 'wooden' is about how I would expect someone put through the psychological wringer would act; quiet and acting almost exclusively in the interest of people he loves even to self destruction, which to an outsider looks like he's simply being selfish, but is honestly the reaction I would expect from who is essentially a career criminal who bit off more than he could chew, got fucked over, and had his family pay for his actions, causing him to obsessively do whatever he thinks will keep them safe (being distant) and doing anything and sacrificing anyone to help them (putting Bedbug in mortal danger with no real regard for his safety). If you look at Aiden for what he is, a deeply troubled and traumatized man who would kill himself if his sister didn't exist, his actions make much more sense and he becomes much more likeable.
As for his personality, I felt Aiden, his sister, and Jackson were all relatively 'stiff' and quiet, with other characters like Damien, Iraq, and T-Dog having much more personality, and I think that was intentional (or at least partially so) because, again, of the trauma they (the Pearces) experienced so recently, making all of them sort of quiet, reserved, and seemingly 'empty' which gets contrasted by other characters who either have already dealt with their trauma and got past it, were not affected nearly to the same degree, or simply never had an event traumatic enough to change them.

@@freddieb1903I’m not complaining I’m just saying it’s a complete different genre nothing wrong with not agreeing with someone
Honestly watch dogs 1 feels like it takes aspects from 2004s punisher & Christian Bale's batman. Like Aiden can be an absolute terrifying presence at times because he can just be a poltergeist but can also hunt you down punisher style
Watch Mr. Robot, is a great series that really reminds me of Watch Dogs outside the vigilante-esque parts of it.
I mean, if you liked everything about the hacking stuff, I'll recommend it
For what it's worth, Ubisoft said in interviews following the game's release that apparently Aiden is supposed to be a deconstruction of these sorts of ruthless, revenge-minded protagonists-leaning into how badly they would screw up their lives if they tried something like that in reality. Whether or not they nailed that is up to you, but it would explain why Aiden has learned basically nothing at the end. He's been doing this kind of thing all through the game, and he's been finding ways to justify it to himself throughout-why _wouldn't_ he embrace becoming Chicago's Batman?
Used to walk through the city reading info about random people, listening to their conversation
This is kind of personal favorite, it was one of the few games I had on my xbox360 back in the day; the vibes that felt like the game tried to make a sort techno-noir aesthetic, the combat that made you feel like a badass (if you didn't care for stealth), heck I even used to think Aiden was kinda cool, like a sort of punisher with "hacker powers", they even kept going into that brand with the encounter you have with him in WD2
Is one of those games that you cannot stop thinking how good it could have been if it wasn't for it's flops in both writing and gameplay, Aiden had a lot of potential as a character; to learn over his mistakes after losing everything, then he does lose everything and he's still ok about it (honestly it felt like deep down he only gets a rush of thinking he's batman or something) and things like the driving can feel a bit stiff compared to similar games like gta, hacking also felt like your get out of jail for free card in most car chases
Is a deeply flawed game but I just cannot stop liking it, on how good it is as a concept and also honestly out of just pure nostalgia
I agree as far as his personality. I felt the movement was more fluid than any non Assassins creed gam. Holding the trigger to run was buttery smooth something that GTA should have implemented in Grand Theft Auto IV really.
Mechanically that exist in the game would be the Collision glitches but the advanced players exploited that and it became gameplay for the high competitive levels
Played the game a month ago for the first time, but I still agree w/ya
Honestly I think that the driving is better than in gta because of the car "classes"
This is genuinely one of Ubisoft's best crafted open worlds, at least on mood and vibes alone. The atmosphere, lighting and art direction are superb when strolling through a rainy night in the city. And when they get down to it, Ubisoft can make especially lively NPCs, and they're definitely so here.
Take that and pair it with what's arguablly some of the best 3rd person combat for that genre of that generation, this game is a newfound gem a near decade later.
They didn't deliver with what they showed in the E3, but the graphics are still great
YOU'VE BEEN READING MY MIND. I'VE BEEN WANTING A LARGE WATCHDOGS ESSAY AFTER WATCHING WHITELIGHT'S A FEW DAYS AGO. THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!
I'm 100% convinced that if you go in to Watch_Dogs expecting a "John Wick" style game, it becomes so much more fun and engaging!
Watch_Dogs will always be that odd game I am unsure how I feel about in retrospect, it's practically the game that made "Bullshot" (The term where you show something in a game trailer/presentation then entirely change it) into the mainstream, I will always remember the initial E3 showings to what we got as something so many people were disappointed with. And that sort of tarnished the game as a whole in my memory, so it will be interesting to see how this video goes through it, great work as always.
Watch dogs was definitely not the first game to lie in a trailer 😂

24:00 Saying Aiden is selfish for choosing to enact vigilante justice instead of appreciating the family he has left is like saying Bruce Wayne is selfish for using his wealth to play dress up at night with cool toys as the Batman to beat the shit out of bad guys instead of fully pursuing philanthropy, curing cancer and ending poverty around the world.
They are both still extremely badass, which is why we love characters like them so much, which reflects our own selfishness in a way LOL
Sure, revenge is inherently a selfish thing, but it’s not like it isn’t understandable. When somebody kills a member of your family, especially if it’s a child, YOU’RE GONNA BE MAD ABOUT IT
This has been my favourite channel for the passed two years nearly. Keep up the great content, sadly can't watch the Yakuza vid, as I'm currently playing the entire franchise (halfway through 0). But I can't wait to binge watch it
i like the Rudy D'Avanso theme from GTA Chinatown Wars when Clara died. It actually fits, because you meet Rudy at a graveyard, and Clara died at a graveyard.
Always a pleasure with the vidoes brining back nostalgia for my old games
Watch_Dogs uses a virtual thumbstick for mouse aim that gets more sensitive the farther away from the "center" it gets. Good luck figuring out where that is. We have yet to find a confirmed fix for this, but I have a couple ideas. The aim assist is also actively detrimental to getting headshots, so turn it all the way down
Getting a takedown instantly refills your entire focus meter. Watch_Dogs can be played as a cover shooter the same way the new Lego Star Wars can be played as an RPG, but it's actually a push forward action shooter in the style of Doom Eternal. You have to manage three resources: Distance, time, and health. The more you can reduce distance between you and your enemies, the more takedowns you can get, but this takes time. Cover swapping can make rushing faster, but if someone jumps you while you're in the open, you can only react by going into focus. Bombs make nearby enemies stagger even if you don't aim them very well, so just tapping right bumper to quickfire them is usually enough since precision aiming takes valuable time. Focus gives you time to aim, mitagating the damage you take from enemies who can scarcely get off a single shot before you can instantly kill them with a headshot. If you're running low on health, cover can temporarily protect you, but the longer you stay there, the more enemies will increase the distance between you and them, limiting your ability to replenish your resources. Some pieces of cover also create flanking routes if you move along them, but don't shoot until you have to. If you're aggressive enough, the focus meter as a resource almost becomes irrelevant because you're always topped up. The Focus Boost pills are redundant, and if you ever find yourself needing to reload it means you're making bad shot placement and mismanaging focus. When you see people talking about this as a John Wick game, this is what they mean. Check out Visceral_Carnage, AnarchySaint, and my own videos for some examples. The combat is the main selling point and doesn't function very well as a soft failure state for stealth even on the highest difficulty
i was literally thinking about Watch Dogs out of the blue today, i booted up and played a bit of 2 cuz of it
I've played thru Watch Dogs twice, and both times I forgot Jordi mentioned the Car On Demand app in the beginning. So I just stole random cars thru the whole game. I agree with you about Clara. I really liked her, but wish there was more to her character. I didn't think about it before, but I feel like mayor Donovan should've had a more prominent role in the story for the video reveal to hold more weight...or Rose Washington's death should've been more relevant, I guess. I love Watch Dogs 1, but don't care for the second game. I'm 50/50 on Legion.
you should definitely try out the second game; it was the first game i ever got a platinum for on ps and while the main story isn’t that good overall imo i found that the gameplay was extremely fun and kept me going for 100+ hours
Yes please I need a 2 hour WD2 vid
I don’t get how y’all like 2…it started of promising and I love the city and all this but it’s crazy repetitive to me and it’s definitely more hacker based while your character doesn’t do much besides use the computer or hack cameras. I choose normal difficulty and on most of the missions I find doing stealth basically pointless unless you’re really on your a game or want to restart a few times. It just got annoying more so to me at least the main story missions…watch dogs 1 just had way better progression in terms of the levels you get.
I really like this game, the jump between this and Watch Dogs 2 are just so... huge, its very interesting, both have a lot of interesting things on offer, but its so hard to see how they are related if not for DEDSEC and hacking.. and ubisoft

1:15:34 the files for the improved graphics are actually in the game. I think you just need Mods to unlock them so you can have the quality that was showcased in the E3 demo.
Fantastic video. I will say though: Watch_Dogs 2 explores the themes that were “window dressing” here far FAR better, and way more. It’s definitely way lighter in tone, but the story is so much stronger. You should definitely give it a go!

1:15:25 Fun fact, the PC version actually has many of the visual effects on the code, but they are deactivated by default, and there's no in game menu, so you have to download a mod to get those effects back in the game

Hey FuzzySlippers, great video but one thing I want to point out is Fixers are more like quest givers and Solos/Mercs are more like mercenaries. Aiden would not be a Fixer, he would be a Merc, as he does quest for people given by others most of the time.
You can rescue Jackson quietly without alerting the guards and also, if you take everyone out quietly before getting Nicky out then it spares doing the annoying escort thing. She just runs to the car.
I remember in some commentary say Aiden selfishness partially insured Walter white which make sense in how he is both the hero and the villain of the story
Aiden is a phenomenal protagonist and I will die on this hill
Imma have to replay this for chievos sometime.
You could bait people to hacking you in the first one using the Blume employee's. I would sit at the top of a park garage and find a Blume employee to trigger getting invaded. Chicago has been done before, Midtown Madness and Driver 2 come to mind and they had MUCH more accurate Chicago. In this game it doesn't resemble the layout or shape at all. It's just a random city they called Chicago and that's it.
Lol it's a heavily stylized neo-noir techno dystopia. It's not trying to be accurate
@@icarusgaming6269 Yet they made a pretty accurate San Francisco and London. So style doesn't mean anything. They just didn't bother to try, that bit is true.

Last month I played the first Watch dogs game and honestly, I was blown away. The driving wasn't bad at all, in fact I'd say it was even better than in gta 5. I enjoyed Watch Dogs in the largest part and for a long time was reluctant to pick up Watch Dogs 2. I eventually got hold of it and started playing it, then found I couldn't put it down. I found it was far better than the original in all aspects of the game. The story was more compelling, the characters more interesting, the gameplay tighter. My favourite parts were the drones and also being able to call in rival gang hits or the police on people and just sitting back to watch the chaos ensue.
