I have an XRT on loan to review at the moment, and there's not much in it. You can retro fit a beak onto it if you prefer the looks, plus the crash bars etc. Its a lovely bike to ride

Sadly personal circumstances did not allow me to purchase one and I am now trying to rectify that. Still loving the channel and looking forward to more excellent content.
Great accurate video, I must admit the indicator switch and heated grip button can be fiddly (especially when wearing winter gloves). I've done 4800 miles on mine in 6 months (from new) and it excels on longer tours. One day having 14 hours in the saddle - very comfy!👌🏼Tight like a tiger 😂😂

Nice review. The 800 seems to be the ‘sweet spot’ in the Tiger range and gets lots of positive reviews. I have two friends who both have Tiger 1200’s and both say they feel very top heavy and awkward at slow speeds. I can see both of them switching to 800’s in the future. ELT is my local Triumph dealer btw, it’s about a mile away from me in fact so I might see you there some time 👍 Andy.
When I took my Tiger 800 in for a service, they gave me a 1200. Personally I preferred the 1200 engine performance and extra torque easier to manage low down and at low speed than the 800. The extra weight of the 1200, especially on tours, would be its down fall. The 800 as you say, is the 'sweet spot' 👍🏻
Chuffed at the later part when you said you crumbled and went and did a deal on one :) ~ I did the same last weekend at Jack Lilley's Ashford, picking up a employee owned XCA (2k miles) inc topbox & Arrow tomorrow ~ now my Steamer (Tiger 885) can get the tlc it deserves (Yes that's a Trident as my avatar). omg it's bloody gorgeous isn't it, only done a short run today from dealer to work, the sound is far better than I thought, weight feels well balanced & light in spite of the actual figure, going to have to refine my tractor pedal stomping habits now lol ~ I have a Korosi Red ~ @@mancavemoto
My boot size is 46 Euro. I moved the gear lever 1 notch up but never felt comfortable. I ended up buying an sw-motech aftermarket lever. Basically, I agree with the review. I added a headlight protector. You have to buy an adaptor plate to fit the Triumph top box. That sucked slightly. I'm 6'4" & fitted bar risers. Although the bike is fitted out for hard cases I bought racks for soft luggage that's just a cost I have to wear. Having moved the Triumph mounts onto the new racks, I think Triumph hard cases would fit straight on? Over here in Australia, we have a lot of unsealed roads. It works great in that environment, especially the WP suspension. I'll be putting more 50/50 tyres on when the BattleWings wear out. Good Review I haven't really felt like altering much.
@@mancavemoto I have now fitted the gear lever + the extension to the barrel (the bit the boot touches). Not sure that I really needed that but it would have cost an arm and a leg to get it separately. It extends the lever by up to 25mm. I've only been around the block & I'm sure it will do the trick it's infinitely & easily adjustable, so I'll go for a longer ride with some spanners in my pocket and dial it in. I sent you a couple of photos to your email address. Triumph glue the main pivot bolt in with super strong Locktite care is needed when removing it, as its soft steel and takes a small hex key. I nearly stuffed it, it's been a long, hot & humid day.
Hi Tony, looks like Triumph have sorted all the annoying little things that plagued the 2016/17 bikes. I had an XCA 2017 and found that the screen set up caused buffeting at all settings, which were few, and even with an extension on the top, you couldn’t eliminate it. Needed the winglets as per the new bike. The adjustment is good. Better suspension all round and that lower first gear is a primary improvement. I never got on with the domestic appliance noise of the air intake/ exhaust. I cured it with a k&N and Akra, but at a cost. That gear lever whilst using enduro boots is a pain, the boots have little flexibility. Anyway, nothing put you off coz you traded in the KTM for an XCA, good move I reckon. Cheers Mike, I hadn't spent much time on the olde model, but after having the new one for a week, I knew that the KTM's days were numbered. I've found a slick looking adjustable lever from SW-Motech, so i'll maybe plump for that. Then maybe start looking at other bits....mind you its not even run in yet so i'll get some miles on the bike first.
KTM's have service issues, as indicated whenever I vist my Triumph, KTM, Kawasaki dealer, many KTMs in the service bay. The new Husky Vitpilin with its KTM engine has already a history of top end failures.
Being a 2015 Tiger 800 XRx owner with the Triumph accessory Arrow exhaust the only thing that would make me want to change is the new screen. Having done a lot of work to try and improve the wind buffeting, including making a video about it, I think you are right about the low wind deflectors. Most of the dirty air comes off the side of the old screen. I wonder if you can make the new screen fit hmmmmmm!
Hi, I am a big unit like you at 220lbs and 6'1", does the bike feel small and do you look oversize on it. I am wanting the XRT and and was wondering if I would have to get the 1200 but I would prefer the 800.
I own a 2017 T-120 and I'm thinking of getting the 800 xca and I was wondering power wise if it's powerful enough?, I find the 1200 a bit too heavy for my taste, I want to do a lot of travelling with the bike and go offroad and on road.
I think its got plenty of power, its a quick bike and once you get the revs up the range that triple sings. The only time i think it might lack a little would be touring, two up with full luggage. But there are plenty of people who do it.
Yeah I only used my GoPro on a chesty Mount and there was too much wind noise to use much of it. Going to invest in another external mic for ambient noise
Really interested in getting this bike once my module 2 is passed and done with soon, but having uk size 12 feet, little concerned with the gear level issue, can anyone shed any light on the mentioned extended leaver? Or can anyone else with larger feet, give their review / experience regarding this issue?

Yep I tried the AT as I really liked it. The tiger just felt lighter and more nimble. Yep I sat on the tenere at EICMA too, but maybe TOO off-road focused for me? I was also waiting for the ktm 790 Adventure, but was a bit ‘meh’ when I saw it in person
@@mancavemoto There were a lot of us knocking on the strange, low mounted fuel tank of the 790, wondering if it is crash proof. I hope the 790 reliability will be good. If not, nothing else matters.
Yeah, the standard one looks a bit weird in my eyes, kind of like the took an adventure bike and lowered it too much. Spec seemed cheap by comparison to the others in the line up. R is better, but again maybe too off-road for me. Plus I’d had reliability issues with my 1050
Has anyone found a cure for the excessive gearbox whine this model has? They have removed the backlash gears on the primary drive and balancer shaft which took away the Triple whine but replaced it with a whine like you get when reversing a car or on a racing gearbox. I've owned both Gen 1 and Gen 2 versions of the Tiger which sounded very different. I love the Gen 3 but hate that gearbox whine...
Congrats on the new motor! I’ve had my XRT since March & absolutely love it. 13hr days no problem, So comfy! The first thing I did was to move the gear lever 1 tooth on the shaft which opened up the gap from the peg & no issues, still shifts like silk! (I think you can adjust it on the rail but this was quicker) I realised this on the test ride because of my size 12’s. How come the change from the KTM?

I did notice that SW-Motech make a nice looking adjustable one, with a folding peg too, perhaps something I'll investigate. When I rode the Tiger, it just felt lighter and more nimble. The motor is awesome, and tbh i'd had a few reliability issues with the KTM. The deal was too good not to turn down....
I’ve noticed it’s all down to the footpegs, I didn’t notice the issue so much on the XRt as the standard footpegs are narrower than the off-road ones on the XCa!

There's a guy here on TH-cam in my state, that rides his Tiger 800 in Enduro scrambles vs dirtbikes. I've never seen someone manhandle a full size bike like that on single track and between narrow tree spaces.

Thanks Ed, there’s a lot of factors at play, not only helmet but jackets, riding position, height etc. Both my Arai tour x4 and shoei neotec II have no or little buffeting. But my RYD has noticeably more, but still very little particularly compared to my old KTM 1050
The ktm was a good bike, but it was heavier, more top heavy and felt like more of a lump. I’d had a few issues that meant it was in the dealers more than I expected or would have liked. The rear cylinder also kicks out a lot of heat. Ok in the winter, but a PITA in the summer
@@phillippayne8170 I can't speak for the components, but the bikes are 'assembled' either in the UK or Thailand depending on the model. I know there is a connection with Bajaj in India, but I don't know if they are making any components for the current model range, I think that relationship is more about bringing smaller capacity models to the local market? Outside of that, Triumph don't outsource any assembly, so the quality control systems in the UK and Thailand are the same

It’s called ‘common courtesy’ The car had already been there waiting. Tony could have had vehicles behind him, but even if he didn’t, letting the Ford out was the decent thing to do. I’d have done the same in that circumstance. So should everyone...

Shifter can be raised with 30 second adjustment. Loosen nut on shifter bar, twist bar to desired shifter height, tighten nut.

I would prefer large analog gauges. Separate tachometer.
I'm more impressed with its engine, one has done over 180k until the knock from the bottom end. That's 180k miles which is really good.

Hi Peter, not at all. In fact there is much size difference between the two anyway. The 1200 just has more bulk

Main competition for me would be Guzzi 85tt- thoughts ? I'm 5'8" stumpy.

I’ve just got an SW Motech adjustable lever and will be fitting it soon. It also depends on what boots you’re wearing, and how you shift I guess
You can just take the shift rod off the shaft in the transmission and move it one notch on the splines? As far as I see on images you can.
Yes possibly, but the push rod would also need adjusting I guess.

I’m assuming you can fit a quick shifter on the tigers?
That’s actually something I’m looking into at the moment. I’m sure there is an option out there....

joaopnmarques it has the capability, Triumph are launching a Bluetooth module in the new year that brings that capability

Compared to the f800gs that it's pretty economical with less than 5l/100km
With an Arrow exhaust riding at 90km/h it can be 5 l/100km, but riding it at 120/130 with the panniers on, it will rise to 6.5 Its/100km. @@bazinga199

@@phillippayne8170 I can't speak for the components, but the bikes are 'assembled' either in the UK or Thailand depending on the model. I know there is a connection with Bajaj in India, but I don't know if they are making any components for the current model range, I think that relationship is more about bringing smaller capacity models to the local market? Outside of that, Triumph don't outsource any assembly, so the quality control systems in the UK and Thailand are the same
