He was soooooooooo soooooooo good, they named him twice! :D Anyone here a follower of football since 1994 would know what a legend Jay Jay was. Even in the star studded EPL(during his Bolton days) he would outshine so many players with his skills. And he just couldn't not stop smiling! What a lad!
Its high time FIFA and the football world gave this great player his full credit. Even Ronaldinho will concur to this fact. Jay Jay Okocha schooled Ronaldinho at PSG; while Ronaldinho school Messi at Bacelona. FACT !!! Do your research. His football legacy lives on.
If this dude wasn't Sub Saharan African playing in the 90's he would've been nominated for ballon d'or and would've played for bigger clubs, the powers that run the game wouldn't want a Nigerian mentioned among the best footballers ever.
absolutely marvelous - one of the very few who had the guts to do these tricks in real, tough games, others being Ronaldinho, and 1990s "failure" Brazilian Denilson (who was one of those missed stars in the soccer galaxy)
Most people trying to discredit this dude cos he did not get many honours should under how tough it is to succeed with middle class players, hadn't been ronaldinho left PSG , you think he would discover himself fully, when you play with the best your Morales gets high and lot of confidence comes in and your work will be easily complimented, Jay Jay had some faults in Boston career cos he did not brand himself, he wasnt showing any willingness to go for a better team, it all OK for him in PSG, he even had to play for Bolton for free making Bolton a tough side to play ending the league within the first 10 twice and also being hull city from relegation, Kanu another talented player did not have his kind of stenghr and agility but he understands the concept of Branding and mobility and that eventually helped his career, it so painful, anyone who does a skill on the field and could repeat comfortably off the pitch is surely a football genius, salute to his likes Ronaldinho, Zidane
Jay Jay Okocha reminds me of Timothy Ayieko, a Ugandan midfielder in the 1970s during Idi Amin's regime. Ayieko who used execute most if not all of these tricks led Uganda to the Africa Cup of Nations final played in Accra, Ghana against the hosts.
Africas Ronaldinho! he was the master in the olympic team with Kanu olisadebe babayaro,Jobo,West and so many more good players! i'm not Nigerian but i just loved that team
FIFA does not have any Golden Boot or special Award for this African Guy. If Jay Jay had been White, Brazilian, Argentinian and not African, would he had gotten more accolades and recognition than he does today? Your Opinion please.
As far as skills on the pitch I can't see anyone coming close to him. I remember denilson of Brazil being good too probably brazils best skiller in my opinion but Austin was a fun to watch player. how Nigeria missed out on winning so many senior awards. That 94 team could beat any team at the time ( I remember them destroying Spain) but it wasn't to be. Ps when he exploded in the media for Bolton, Austin was already way past his prime. if u research this great player in the mid 90s, u will see why for me he will be my number 1 player of all time followed by Romario and 3rd Pele( any player who has over 1600 goals and 3 world cups should be in everyone's top 3 lol)
😂😂 Ronaldinho,Cristiano Ronaldo..all and many foot baller learn for him Jay jay okocha the legeng👑👈 it's no easy to do gest in the match and come give example respect my favourite player 😍😍👌
messi is not the best his a baby compare to okocha messi can dribble so can okocha and okocha is skill he can shoot from any any range and still score and he have is own step over and it used by the best
Really? He is on FIFA 100 Greatest Footballers List. en . wikipedia . org / wiki / FIFA _ 100 ;) Alongside Pele, Puskas, Di Stefano and few other names :P. He is God of skills and he proved it today in a match vs Bayern All Stars. Pure magic. Messi? C. Ronaldo? Please... Both don't come close yet to what Okocha did in his career. ;)
jay jay okocha, i don't care what others think of you, i know you are the best player ever. cheers my idol.
I can't stand how underrated he is just because he's Nigerian.
Truth Seeker etoo drogba?
He was soooooooooo soooooooo good, they named him twice! :D

What a lad!
He talks to the ball and the ball listens. that's not talent that's a gift.
well said!!!!!
Watching Okocha display his skills was breathtaking...that kind of play will probably never be matched by anyone else
True man.Dinho always said JJ was his mentor and inspiration

Jay-Jay and Ronaldinho are truly masters of that stuff.
Okocha is a divine gift to Africa

Jayjay, I want my son's to be like you, because you know what to do with the ball, you talk to the ball and its answers you.
If this dude wasn't Sub Saharan African playing in the 90's he would've been nominated for ballon d'or and would've played for bigger clubs, the powers that run the game wouldn't want a Nigerian mentioned among the best footballers ever.
The dude had massive skills and power. Courage and confidence

Jay Jay Okocha
So good, they named him twice.
Ronaldinho was the Brazilian Okocha !
