Man I’ve been using the 1.6 for 5 years now and I haven’t had a single issue with the engine. Its a gem giving a great balance between performance and efficiency. I dont get why everyone’s saying its too expensive to maintain and stuff. Its cheaper than my creta 🙄

Suzuki should have offered Sunroof, bcz Japanese Scross has sunroof in it.
All of you are cribbing about Maruthi doing away with the 1.6L engine for the underpowered 1.3L engine...but will it not mean better fuel efficiency ? with fuel prices fluctuating crazily and alarmingly on almost daily basis, FE is something that needs to be considered....

But its simply ridiculous that a lot of people are getting the Brezza over the S-Cross even though the S-Cross has miles better interior quality and not to forget the space. Even the rear seats in the S-Cross has better under thigh support and has a nice leather upholstery. Brezza is the most overrated car from Maruti IMO and the Brezza selling like hot cakes really says what an average Indian wants in a car..(Looks and road presence)

yes, by about 1.3lks but for that s-cross has
1. A much better built quality (I mean the interiors are miles apart) with better materials and finish
2. All wheel disc brakes
3. The leather seats
4. The extra space and comfort especially with the rear seats which provides a superb view of the road ahead plus much better under thigh support
The only thing going for the Brezza is the high stance that gives the car some road presence and absolutely nothing else.
Indians would most certainly buy any sub standard product provided it has a high stance (faux pas SUV) and a Maruti Suzuki badge on it.
Dear sir I m confused between fiat punto evo diesel 90hp or ford Figo diesel.. I have to drive in hilly areas and bad patches road.. No need for resalevalue becoz I have to drive 7 years.. And comfort in driving.. Pls suggest

Really well presented review. Liked every bit of it. But I think at this price point it is a good car. Yes Creta, Eco-sport, nexon and breeza are some competitors but every one has its shortcommings. None of them is perfect.
Creta starts from about 10 lakhs ex-showroom price and you don't get better equipment levels + the 1.4l engine has somewhat same power and a slightly higher torque figures so i think not worth it if you compare to the other 4 mentioned above. One has to cough out 15lakhs+ to get one of the better variants of creta. Whereas S cross alpha is about 13lakhs on-road.
Eco-sport is really a drivers car out of the 5 (keep creta 1.6l engine aside and somewhat nexon) but again the top end costs about 13lakhs on-road for a sub 4m / compact car. Not only that the back seats are a real deal breaker.
Now nexon is really a good all rounder. But people still want some time to gain back the trust on a tata product + it should have had a few more features atleast the cruise control and automatic irvm to justify it's price for the top end variant. But I think it's the best all rounder.
Now comming to breeza. Not an enthusiast's car. But if we see from a family man point of view. You get all the bells and whistles. Both of them are all rounder(Keeping the fun of driving aside). But breeza doesn't feel like a product worth 10lakhs. Poor interior quality. I just hate breeza's interior quality. Worst of all the 5 options. And the back seat comfort is also too poor. It literally feels like you are sitting inside a trunk in bad patches of road.
But the short commings of breeza are the strong points of s-cross. If we compare the s cross zeta to breeza zdi+ one misses on air cooled box, auto headlamps, auto wipers, ground clearance but in return gets a bigger car(>4m in lengths which also translates to better place inside) with all bells and whistles, much better interior quality, better suspension setup (s cross probably has the best ride quality in this price point).
I am not a maruti fan-boy but am trying to say that currently s cross is very well positioned in the market. Maruti couldn't have placed it any better. As you have said It is probably the best Maruti one can buy now. And out of the 4 variants i guess zeta is the one to go for.

From Faisal's extensive review, I am made to wonder why this Cross over doesnt find many takers in India. Went for a test drive last weekend and noticed this new semi hybrid thing Maruti have in this new S Criss which basically kills ur engine automatically when on neutral to save on fuel and starts engine once you press the clutch. Nothing on that part you covered. Any reviews on that!

S cross or Creta which is the best
Need a suggestion buying a cross over Im stuck between Scross/Nexon.Need good avg, not high maintenance, good in safety, good for tall people (5'11" and above), mix of Highway, city drying already own a swift vxi 07 model. Avg running is 900 kms so should I go in for a petrol/Diesel.If petrol then which car?
If you need more power and torque figures then close your eyes take nexon (Don't know about maintenace though). But if you are looking at a family car then there is nothing competing with the S cross in terms of mileage, practicality, build quality, high speed handling, comfort, space and reliability. You can take a look at Zeta. I think it costs as much as Nexon but for that price you get a full blown car, Cruise Control (missing in the nexon).
By the way I own a zeta S cross and was also in the same dilemma as yours. Honestly speaking, just brought zeta in place of nexon for cruise control because power is not something I keep as priority. And believe me it is such an important feature to have on highways. It will take around 1 highway trip getting used to but is definitely required in highways.
In City my car has returned worst of 14 kmpl...driven like a maniac. And the max I have got in City is 21kmpl till date.
In highways the worst have been 18kmpl and the best has been 24kmpl.(All the abovr figures are during running in time...will get better in the future).
Drivability in city is not poor. Has enough torque to keep you in pace with the rest of the traffic and I go past of the cars in the highway...so not so issue there. But yes for quick overtakes one needs to downshift a gear because this is the engine's charachter...no 2 ways about it. Overall I would say drivability is good for cruising in legal speed limits.
And of course the infotainment system of maruti is way better than that of nexon.

Looking good ground clearance, rear ac, 6 people travelling often, good stability in cornering and high speed in city and highway, strong built for safety, and most importantly above 19 mileage with diesel. Which one is the best?
