      zahoor kamal most likely the iPhone X will update what it knows about your face and it's many shapes over time as you scan yourself which would be how you could do things like grow beards and change other attributes without it being a problem.

    Accidentally hitting the crown happens when lifting weights or swinging a golf club. Wearing the crown in reverse prevents this from happening, too.

    I'm kind of weirdo too :-) I'm right handed, but for ages used to wear any watch on my right hand. People wearing Apple Watch on right hand usually wear it with crown on the right side to reach the crown with left thumb. Well, my crown is on the left side and somehow it felt right and natural for me from the beginning :-)

    Love this! Thank you! I had not seen that setting. There is one other great reason for reverse crown orientation -- I sometimes unintentionally invoke Siri when I bend my wrist backwards. This happens most frequently when I work out and wear work-out gloves. No more of that with reverse crown!

    Yep. I'm sold on this orientation for the apple watch. I constantly hit the crown button with my wrist when cycling and just moving around, even with a bumper case on. Flipping the watch really reduced that a lot, and now the crown doesn't dig into my wrist when I flex my hand. I think that because of how easy it was to bump the crown, it also occasionally messed up my strava running workouts and commuter cycling workouts.

    Your roller derby reason is similar to one of my primary reasons. I’m a truck driver, and whenever I fuel, or when I’m opening trailer doors, I always inadvertently trigger Siri when wearing in regular orientation. As you said, it’s MUCH more ergonomical, too.

    Thank you Serenity for showing me a better way to wear my Apple Watch!!! Both my wife and I tried it the way you are wearing and it is SOOO much better! We are both right handed and wear our watches on the left wrist. We always wore them with the crown on the right hand side and constantly complained about bumping the button or the crown or activating Siri. Once I saw this video I suggested we try it and it has been brilliant. Using the crown with your right hand is no issue as you sort of naturally position your hand with the thumb on the left and index finger on the right hand side of the watch anyway as you reach for it, the only difference is you now use your thumb on the crown instead of the index finger. Since the change we have had no accidental button presses and haven't had Siri waiting for us to talk to her! Thank you again!

    I switched to this orientation because my watch kept taking screenshots when I would flex my wrist backwards. Somehow doing that pressed both the buttons. I know this feature can be disabled but I still want to be able to take an occasional screenshot. After I changed to the reverse orientation I realized using my thumb to press the crown was easier and more comfortable.

    I tried reverse crown when I first got it, but couldn't get into it. It was uncomfortable to me. It means I have to reach around the watch, reaching further, and do tend to partly cover the screen. Top right feels very normal and natural to me

    My husband recently gifted me with an apple watch. First thing I asked him since I wear the watch on my left wrist was can you make the screen turn so I can have the buttons facing me? He said absolutely! I didn't realize this was an issue for people. It is most comfortable for me for the same reasons you mentioned. I don't like the knobs touching my hand and feel like they are protected by have them towards me as you showed in the video! ;-) Your video popped up after searching what is red dot on watch... nice video!

    I didn’t even know this was a thing. I wear mine on my left wrist and at work I have to wear gloves. With the crown on the right the gloves constantly wake the phone and ends up opening random apps and I always found this super annoying! This fixes that and like you stated actually feels like it makes more sense! Kudos to you!!!

    I also wear my series 2 the same way. But I do it for working out and lifting weights. If i would wear it the way you call traditional . When I do push ups , pull ups or bench press I would push the crown in and it would make the watch do something I didn't want it to. Because the back of my hand would push on the the crown when my wrist was pushed backwards. I also think it would put excessive pressure on the crown . Which I think would possible damage the button or lose the water resistance.

    • @iamfernandob
      @iamfernandob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're wearing the watch in a way that the back of your hand can touch the crown your wrist is either broken or you wear your watch way up on your wrist which isn't how a watch is supposed to be worn. I just did pushups to test this and my hand doesn't come anywhere close to touching the crown. :-|

  • @mk.5844

    I used to wear mine like this (for all of about 15 seconds) before someone told me I was wearing it wrong. My co workers set up the watch for me, so I didn’t really question them. But after a few daysㅡ just like you I ended up pressing the buttons on the side 24/7 when getting up. I do a lot of crouching and sitting randomly around my place of employment and when I go to get up I generally fold my left wrist back to help get up. So my hand was constantly pressing the crown.

    This makes so much more sense. I turned off Emergency Auto-Call for fear of holding the button while flexing my wrists. I could re-enable it with this orientation. It's especially bad if you are wearing gloves.

    I think you totally made sense and great idea! I also think it’s incredible that you only had one scratch on your original Apple Watch even playing roller derby! • @rfh9560
      @rfh9560 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Warren Rohr I’ve never seen anyone using a case or a screen protector on the watch, I never thought someone would wear those things, they look horrible haHahHa. And if scratches bother you so much, you should consider buying the stainless steel version, I had one, and the screen was almost unscratchable, once I bumped into a metal handrail and when I checked, there was painting on my screen, I just removed it with my nail and it was still perfect. You will get a lot of light scratches on the body though, but it still looks good, unlike the aluminium ones

      Ricardo Fialho Henriques Cool thanks for the reply! I’ve been rocking it without any case or screen protector and love it and I totally would’ve got the stainless steel Version but I couldn’t afford it I’m happy with the aluminum one it’s holding up so far.

    I’ve always used watches this way. Even before the Apple Watch. If you do any kind of activity that requires a lot of wrist bending you’d get the analog watches crown marked in your hand

  • @GadgetReviewVideos
    @GadgetReviewVideos 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve worn the watch almost the same as you from the first version, same reason for the mic, same reason for the wrist bending and hitting both buttons. The only different in your vs mine is the crown is in the top. Why, because balance didn’t matter to me. My fingers are long and I may be more ambidextrous. I’m more right handed, but I wear it on my right wrist.
    My left long index finger goes to the top left corner of the Watch, whiskey my left hand long thumb pushes in in the crown. The other three left fringes rest on top of my right hand comfortably.
    I can scroll with the thumb and crown and select with the index finger, or use my left index finger to scroll and select.
    Although I agree the mic is a lot better in the series 3 vs the original one, I still like the speaker pointing to my fingers since I have trouble hearing, this way I can simply raise my hand towards my right side of the face and hear the conversation better.
    As you said, it’s been an option from the start to fit all kinds of people and lifestyles, and it’s ultimately up to you.

    I was also thinking about this, same issue with motorcycle gloves and accidentally calling emergency services because the glove is pressing against the buttons. But on the other hand, if you have a coat on you have to pull your sleeve up much more to acces the buttons. I guess it just depends which bothers you more. Accidental button presses is something you never want I think. They should put buttons on the bottom for your thumb to be even more natural ;)

    I've been wearing my watch like this because I do Crossfit and my workout would pause every time I did a handstand or any grip on the bar which involves wrist extension - this is exacerbated if I wear gloves. Another thing I do to protect my watch from being scratched or broken by Kettlebells or other object is to wear it with the face on my wrist as a temporary measure. I'd love a setting which would properly lock the watch and deactivate the pause function.

    I've recently switched to reverse crown, too. While the look seems odd to me, I grew tired of constantly accidentally pressing either button when bending my wrist all the way. I agree with you. I’ve always worn my I watch this direction, it just felt better. Also, I was tired of taking screenshots every time I bent my wrist too much.

    I’m left handed and the I agree with you. The crown is protected while bending the wrists... Excellent point! Even though I won’t wear it on my left wrist...

    Kudos on Roller Derby!
    I used to be a referee for 3-4 years. Couldn't be a player because I also did ballet - Lesser chance of being injured.
    And for the topic at hand, if I used an Apple Watch, I'd wear it like you too because it seems more logical.

    I change the crown inside of my left from the outside... When driving at work I kept hitting my wrist and changing the face it was kind of annoying so now I’m a try it the crown on the inside of my left wrist

    When I moved from Series 0 to Series 3, I noticed that I started getting a lot more accidental activations of Siri. I tried reverse crown, and the problem went away. I also find it ergonomically better.

    I tried this right now, it is really way easier to press digital crown for home screen or siri. Also, when lifting weights I used to accidentally trigger siri which is not going to happen from now on

    I didn’t realize you reversed it until this video lol. But i just did it too and it works alot better. Thanks again. :)

    I’m so trying this. I had to disable the emergency call setting on mine; apparently it dials 9-1-1 automatically when the side button is pressed for so long. When I’m working or cleaning, sometimes my wrist is bent at a 90° angle (or less!) for an extended amount of time and that often makes my the back of hand press against my watch buttons. Luckily, I heard the 9-1-1 operator speaking both times, before help was actually sent. 😅

    Can you create a grocery/shopping list on the new watch, so the iPhone can be left @ home when going to the store?

      Michael Woodhead you can’t create new lists, but you can add stuff to existing lists.

    Having worn an Apple Watch for less than 24 hours, I am already agreeing with this issue of ergonomics and will be giving "Reverse Crown Orientation" a try. however, concerning roller derby and other activities where the wrist comes into contact with protective/support equipment, etc. (wrist straps, barbells, kettle bells, dumbbells, etc. in weight lifting & crossfit) give the ActionSleeve armband by TwelveSouth a try - that was the very first accessory I ordered when I ordered my Apple Watch

      I love the ActionSleeve and actually have a review of it coming! It's not perfect for roller derby because too much arm contact with opposing players, but I adore it for weight lifting.

    One thing against this is that the power button is harder to reach and press, since the crown sticks out more your thumb would not be able to reach around the crown to hit the power button. You’d be hooking it with index finger which would twist the watch to the right. So either way you have this imbalance due to both buttons being on the same side.
    Although to be fair I tend to press crown more often so your way does provide more stability over all.
