Roxy Music never gets enough love. DON'T STOP THE DANCE is one of theirs I can never get enough of. The video is too cool. LOVE IS THE DRUG I know well. Never heard JEALOUS GUY before.
Love the "Love" song. It was nice and upbeat. Gave me shades of Talking Heads and The Clash. The second song is a very nice tribute. I's cool that Roxy Music felt the need to even do a tribute song. They're pretty cool for that.
Jealous is one of best covers ever, everything is perfect in that song wich keeps the original Lennon feeling and add a beautiful atmosphere, I love this song. If you didn't listen any of these yet, go ahead with "Dont Stop The Dance", "Slave To Love" and the cover of the 1933 song "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".
There are two eras to Roxy Music, their 70's output was more art/glam/pop experimental music which sounded like no one else, until the many imitators began to catch up. By the time of their 6th album 'Manifesto' there was a transition into a much smoother style, which Bryan Ferry continued in his solo work. Check out their debut hit single 'Virginia Plain', it was extraordinary then and still is today.
I wasn’t that much into Roxy Music, but am familiar with several of their hits, including these two. I’m also familiar with a few of Bryan Ferry’s solo songs. Definitely a good start to the week…..any big surprises??
Cool, you can't climb down every single rabbit hole, you'd never see the sun!! Well, I'm laying off new artists for a week or 2 since I just did 15 of them, but I know you'll be happy at least 2 more times this week 😎
Roxy Music, Good music of the 70's, yes first title becoming funk new-wave but my favorite were "Jealous Guy" more ambient with that soft Roland drum machine, haunting String keyboard, containing a beautiful melody you can't forget reprise by each other instruments, lead guitar and Saxophone and even the whistling 😉 (Lennon of course) well it's becoming Pop, check the Album "Avalon" who got the title and also "More than this" 1982 if I remember. Have a nice day!😢
Amazing songs from different eras. It’s all good. Bryan Ferry has done loads of stuff with David Gilmour too. Gilmour played guitar for Ferry at Live Aid among many other things ❤
@retroreactions.... yeah I'd say so. I have the first 3 albums on CD as well as Avalon. But if you want some prog"ish sounding stuff, check out "If there is something " off their first album and "The bogus man" off their second. Awesome music! Split Enz awaits you sometime, Brandon. Their first 2 albums are New Zealand progressive rock from the mid 70s.
Roxy "Music" is creative, experimental and extravagant! I bet they have many more musical shades and colors in their catalog... Thanks for watching! 🥰
"Love Is Drug" is a classic. Never gets old
Bryan Ferry & Roxy Music have so many fantastic songs. Love is the Drug is my favourite track from this band. Just love it!
I bet! Yes, I saw that LITD was your fave, so I thought you might be checking out this vid 😊
💯 agree. Also my favorite Roxy song. It’s a timeless song and a big part of that is due to the stellar production.
@@retroreactions.... I didn't remember commenting on it before, but I loved it from the moment it was released. ❤🔥
4 months ago LOL...wow it's been that long since my last RM reaction, time truly is flying! 😬
Thanks for watching Jerry!
Roxy Music....yes please! ♥️
Don't mind if I do! 😎 Happy new week!
@@retroreactions.... 😉👌
Oh man that bass on Love is the Drug just carries the song. So rich and deep and funkaaayyyy
Infectious song for sure, well I'm sure most of their music is. Did you see I finally did Blue Oyster Cult and LOVED them!
This is where Brian Eno got his start
A pretty cool way to start a career! Thanks for stopping by Lloyd..
@@retroreactions.... To clarify, Eno was an early member of Roxy Music from 1970 but left the band in 1973.

LOVE IS THE DRUG I know well. Never heard JEALOUS GUY before.
Wow. It's Lennon and Roxy did it just after he was killed. I cried for a solid year. It was 4 days after my birthday.
"Don't stop the Dance" was a solo Ferry track.
Check out Angel Eyes, and Oh Ye!👌
Cool, added your votes to my list for those. Thanks for tuning in!
I recommend "Kiss and Tell", "Avalon" and "The Right Stuff" also.
Thanks! I already reacted to Avalon, but will add your votes for the other 2 🙂
LOVE Kiss and Tell! 😁
Vote added 👋
@@retroreactions.... NB "Kiss and Tell" and "The Right Stuff" are both Bryan Ferry solo songs from 1987.
Oh ok thanks, I will move them on my list...
Roxy Music = tasty music
Part of the reason the word " love ":is being used that particular way is due to censorship concerns of the time
Tasty goodness! Interesting...makes sense. I'm sure the word love was used as a substitute lyric in many songs!
Brian Mr Smooth
That's for sure! Thanks for watching and being first today 🙂 🥇

Nice comparisons, and I can see that as well. Yes, no doubt they were inspired by Lennon and The Beatles as were most I think....Happy ummm MONDAY!
Yeah, definitely Talking Heads vibe.
AVALON (and early Duran Duran "borrowed" very heavily from Roxy)
Love these guy, though I don’t go very deep into their catalog.
Sounds good enough! Enjoy what you can, every song from them is great I'm sure..

Oh my, my anthem way back at age 20. Lol
Song #1 I'm guessing! 😁
@@retroreactions.... ya. Lol

Yeah I'm single cos i'm waiting for Bryan. Fab song and Roxy are next level art rock.
Lennon, of course, breaks my heart. Bryan does a great job.

You should check out some of their early stuff Brandon. From 1972 to 74. It is a mix of art and glam rock.
Sounds great! Looks like Virginia Plain is the biggest song from that era?
@retroreactions.... yeah I'd say so. I have the first 3 albums on CD as well as Avalon. Thanks for the suggestions, they will be added to my long list! Have a great day 😀
Go back to the very beginning with re-make / re-model and hear the future as it sounded in 72.
John made Yoko write a list of every man she had slept with, then freaked out. Then we get this song...
Oh hey Brandon. I have been rather unwell and absent. I missed you though! x
Flesh & Blood and Avalon, please! Thank you ❤
Your comments of the mix are on point.
I do think this is an oboe, not a saxophone though.
There is the Avalon reaction on my channel already 😊
