Now it’s parents living vicariously through their kids sport, while screaming at coaches and refs! That’s if the kid can get away from phones and computers in the first place.
Rad video! I miss the days as a kid when your bike or skateboard was part of your identity. Loved my Dyno Detour and Torker II. I was 11 in ‘87, great times and memories! Always wanted a 24” cruiser, but was more into flatland freestyle.
I remember Getty the ABA sticker on my number plate for the first time in 1984- was riding a Huffy with Red-Line stickers to be cooler… Always wanted a Mongoose; awesome vid! Thanks for sharing a beautiful trip down memory lane…
I remember back in the day when bmx tracks were almost as common as the baseball fields near or at municipal parks. There used to be a handful of them around here.
My son Jon Albritton put it all together at the Bakersfield U.S. Nationals in 87 scored a triple national win there in 8 expert, for some reason they showed the video and had 11 open caption under his name. He jumped the big double there and ran away from the pack. He raced for Titan Factory that year and won a lot of races for them. Good times!
Th actual race we're watching looks like a "local" race to me .. .presumably somewhere in California especially with the factory riders present, (CW) Charles Townsend.. Greg Hill, Todd Blaser (Elf) etc
This was the US nationals in Bakersfield ca. I was at this race and remember the track very well. Saturday it rained and flooded parts of the track. Sunday it was sun. Great times.
Interesting to see ELF from back in the day. Also I didn't know that In Hee Lee was racing back in 87, in about 3 or 4 years I believe he was the #1 Am in ABA. RIP NBL hahaha
Selling you the most proper, and the most expensive, version of yourself EVER. 😂 #80s "How 'bout we land this jump, in the backyard, in the snow, with everyone watching?"😅
Its ashame how bike companies, city's, and states, have turned away from things like this for our youth. Then they wonder why our youth are out here in trouble, and shit.
Good clean family fun..we need this today..let's BRING IT BACK..
There's bmx tracks all over. I still race at 54 and so do my kids and wife

@@asdf9890you’re wrong about BMX.
It never Left
I'm in 1st place (Nick Liberatore) at about 2 min 50 seconds into the video. #1 blue Super Bowl of BMX Haro Plate. Just after Gork.
Impressive. Considering this is 35 years old, there's some good advice in this video which still pertains to racing today.
This is the ONE thing that time travels me back to my childhood
this is rad and totally awesome and safety is the best part of it all
Titans were the cream of the crop at the track back in the late 80s early 90s.
golden age of BMX.

Mx 1000 brakes was a great 20' bmx bike...
I'm 58 and raced in the 80's.....coolest thing I ever did!! RAD!!
"fun jumps that shouldn't be done during racing cause there's a chance of falling down and getting hurt".......Unless you are Todd Lyons...LMAO!!!!!
Back when trophies were won and not given out just for being there 😤
Awesome, great vid, thumbs up I love the 80's
I remember back in the day when bmx tracks were almost as common as the baseball fields near or at municipal parks. There used to be a handful of them around here.

Fun fact, Stu raced a super goose with Huffy decals.
Also should add.. .Stu Thomsen had a book "bitd" called "Stu Thomsen book of BMX" It was my BMX bible 😎
I had a Webco frame Tange forks and Tuff wheels.
Where was this filmed? Looks like Winchester/menifee
