  • This is a quick tutorial on how to set up an all-in-one nano saltwater aquarium - aquascaping, mixing saltwater, adding sand and preparing equipment. It’s easier than you might think. Come back soon because I’m really excited about what I’m putting in the tank.
    Thanks to George from ‪@coralfish12g‬ for sending me this kit to try out.
    You can learn more or buy your own here: www.coralfish12g.com/products...
    The kit included:
    - acrylic aquarium with triple-chamber rear filtration compartment
    - LED light with adjustable spectrum and gooseneck mount
    - coralline-colored artificial rock ready for aquascaping
    - live aragonite sand
    - salt mix
    - filter pads, biomedia and carbon pods
    - hydrometer
    - siphon gravel cleaner

    I knew this tank looked familiar and then you mentioned coralfish. 😂

    Nice little setup. Im just scared of acrylic. Im not known for being the gentle when scraping lol

    That’s great! The exchanging of bacteria with water and rocks from the big tank, reminds me of sourdough bread… your main tank is the “mother”!!

      Smells better though. Most of the time.

    Looking good! I'm gonna be setting up a fluval evo 13g soon and Its gonna be my first saltwater tank. Would you be able to make a video talking about water chemistry and water quality in nano reef tanks and how to keep it all clean an stable? because I like the way you explain things, its very easy to understand.

      So kind of you to say! I'll absolutely make some videos about water chemistry. But I don't want you to wait around for me... I can point you in the direction of some really good videos that are already out there -- what channels have you watched so far?

      @@BaconCove not much, I’ve watched a couple videos from reef dork and a couple videos from my first fish tank

      @@legionaquatics So I learned a ton of what I know from Bulk Reef Supply. They have two channels (one they took over when they bought out a competitor) -- their original one is www.youtube.com/@BRStv/videos
      It's a real treasure trove of information. There are several playlists for beginners that could be a great place to start!

    I’ve been looking at this tank.. do you think this is sufficient for some small Anemone and a couple clownfish?

    • @BaconCove
      @BaconCove  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely. I think that is actually a perfect choice for a tank this size. Now the one thing I will caution you is that you should let your tank mature (ideally for 6-12 months!) before getting an anemone. Get the clowns as soon as the tank has finished cycling, but the anemone is very delicate and doesn't tolerate swings in water chemistry. You'll have a lot more success if you wait for the tank to go through its growing pains first. You could try introducing some forgiving soft corals like nepthea or mushrooms in the meanwhile. Clowns will sometimes host those corals just like an anemone (mine do -- check out some of my shorts). Will this be your first saltwater aquarium?

      No problem. It's 14 inches long by 16 wide by 14 tall. Around 15 gallons.

    Isnt that the plastic tank that costs $500?

    • @BaconCove
      @BaconCove  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep, it's acrylic, which gives a lot more flexibility in the design, particularly in the filtration chambers. The cost includes the tank, light, mounting arm and return pump (for the basic bundle). I actually think that's a pretty good deal -- a Kessil A80 light is $140 alone...
