This is a quick tutorial on how to set up an all-in-one nano saltwater aquarium - aquascaping, mixing saltwater, adding sand and preparing equipment. It’s easier than you might think. Come back soon because I’m really excited about what I’m putting in the tank. Thanks to George from @coralfish12g for sending me this kit to try out. Tour of Dream Aquarium Fish Room
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
I built my dream aquarium fish room out of the unfinished portion of my basement. It’s 15 by 10 feet, with mold-resistant drywall covered in FRP. Most of the controller systems are mounted on the wall or controller board, and I have an iPad for accessing my apps and aquarium log. My custom-built acrylic sump contains my filter socks, UV sterilizers, two-part dosers, protein skimmer, refugium, h...
My New All-in-One Nano Aquarium
มุมมอง 1.4Kปีที่แล้ว
So many things to be excited about. This is my first all-in-one system and my first nano tank. It was sent to me as a gift by a very prominent aquarium TH-cam channel - more on that later. I’m going to use it to show how easy it is to set up a saltwater aquarium. I’m hoping to get suggestions on what to put in it! If your A.D.D. ever reaches the level mine has….the print on schedule 40 PVC can be easily removed with acetone. th-cam.com/video/we7mJErnrM4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=px6HUCmKpvnJSueH
What was the rest of the recovery like? I just diagnosed with and told I need surgery.
Hello, I may have got this infection recently. Can you tell me what antibiotic combination you were prescribed ?
I took rifampin, ethambutol and azithromycin for about 10 months. Good luck, hope you’re doing ok!
I've only been doing this for a year. Thank you for the info. I'm glad they found it. Love your tank! It is beautiful!
Such a clean set up! Very impressive
Nice job! What material did you use to seal your floor? Epoxy?
So I SHOULD have done an acid etch and epoxy, but I didn’t. I just used a cement paint and it worked ok, but it took forever to adhere and I had to touch up several spots that peeled. Lesson learned.
Man a lot of great ideas I’m going to use for my mix station build.
Love seeing Bob swimming in the background! A legend of the cove.
"Legend of the cove" -- sounds like a 90's thriller
DAMN!!!!!!
Show off 😂
I like those mounting brackets you have for the 3-way ball valves. Were those 3D printed or did you buy them?
I got them from BRS -- they were made by Neat Aquatics, but it seems they've been discontinued. They were indeed 3D printed -- I think everything from Neat Aquatics is, actually.
@@BaconCove Found them! Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.
Very nice 😊 Love your gargonia ! Do you know the name of it ? Looking forward to your next vid .
I don't know the name of it, but I agree -- it's probably my favorite part of the tank. Have you had much luck keeping them alive in your system?
Thank you for this information! Sorry you struggled through it but so glad you shared.
Add a closed loop to your water heater using PEX to save on heating the tank. You have the room for it.
Help me understand what you mean by this. The closed loop would heat the tank directly and cut out the sump?
@@BaconCove The concept here works similarly to radiant floor heating. If you have a natural gas water heater, you can tap into the hot water line in your home. Run a PEX line and coil it tightly in your sump. The other end of this loop connects back to the water heater's cold line. In between, install a recirculating pump on the PEX line, which you can control with an aquarium controller. You'll also need a check valve to prevent backflow. To heat the tank, the controller turns the recirculating pump on and off as needed. The challenge is determining the right number of coils-enough to heat the tank effectively but not so many that you get excess heat after reaching your target temperature. You should keep your heaters in the sump as a backup, set just slightly higher than your target temperature, in case the coil system can’t keep up. While it requires some investment to set up, this approach can reduce heating and electrical costs by about 80%.
@@DisplacedCzech That is an absolutely fascinating idea -- where did you come up with it? Have you seen any photos or diagrams of such a setup?
That’s a big L & waste off money 💀😵💫🥴🥴😵💫😵💫
What an outstanding build. Well done! Love the clean look
Very cool!! You really have that running so smoothly!
Thanks, I'm glad you think so!
GREAT video. I am working on building my dream fish room. This was helpful
Looks like your setup is pretty baller already! I’ve got a video dedicated to my fish room as well. What are your plans for yours? Keep me updated on how the build goes!
@@BaconCove thanks man! I just ordered a waterbox peninsula 7225 and plan to do a in wall tank setup but so I can view from my family room and fish room. Would also like some frag tanks and a Berghia breeding setup. Use to sell them a while back, would like to get back into that.
In-wall tanks are so cool, and I love a room divider. I have mine set up in front of my home workspace. Keep up the awesome posts!
Hi. This is the biggest shit that can happen to me. I take (Clarithromycin) and (rifampicin)
Wow!!.. amazing👍👍
Love your site, hope you are doing better, and I am wondering if you can help me. My marine tank is 8 months old, been struggling with green hair algae for at least 4 months, can i do anything to stop this, very frustrating, ive turned my lighs off for weeks but when i put them on again the algae returns
Oof, this is a tough one. So many possible causes and solutions. Obviously look at your water quality -- excess nitrates or phosphates could be a problem. Make sure your lighting isn't too high (when you're not doing a blackout) -- even moderately elevated nutrients can cause an algae bloom if you have too high PAR. Also consider using tangs to eat the algae -- great natural solution, and one I use in my own tank. BRS has some great videos on algae problems and solutions, I highly recommend checking them out. Best of luck friend -- it will get better eventually!
Thank you for sharing! I had no clue until last week that you can catch an infection from your fish/ tank!
So I have read about this happening before, but I believe the case I read about was about a freshwater tank that someone broke down after their fish died. Did you have any open wounds or scratches on your hand/forearm at that time or did the infect get through your skin?
The Bulldogs of tangs😅😂
That’s a cool idea. Yes that Eheim auto feeder is to quite.
Yea nice setup up for sure
Great information. Thank you!
scart shit bro
So glad I came across this video. This is great information. I just started a new saltwater aquarium and it’s just great to have this in the back of my mind just in case. 👍👍👍👍
Really good information. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you heal soon.
Thank you for the info! Will share
Great information! I often dip my hands in my tanks for maintenance and often notice an unusual amount of dryness and discoloration of the nail beds. Working with many Hand Surgeons over the years have led me to believe the tank water was causing this. I’ve seen advanced cases of tenosynovitis and it’s nasty. Nowadays I use gloves worn up to my elbows.
Thats all i needed to get rid of my fish tank.. thanks
Wow. Looks amazing Good job 👏
I was blown away when I found out you could catch tuberculosis from fish, but I've only been in the hobby a year. Thanks for sharing this information, gonna help alot of folks.
It sounds like s dr. House episode! Glad you are ok now!
You should look into maxilla deformation on your daughter & get that corrected asap or she'll have lifelong complications. It's very likely diet & thumb-sucking related (I also had issues as a kid) & it's easier to deal with as a kid before the bones permanently set as an adult. Encourage eating food that's hard to chew like carrots, jerky, steak & whatnot so the kids will have a strong, healthy smile & no sinus issues.
Thank you for sharing
One of my coworkers got this. We clean the bottom of ships in the marina and he cut his hand on the bottom on one. We're usually under water most of the day.
I've heard that second to aquarium keepers, the most common place people get the infection is cleaning barnacles off the bottoms of ships. I like to watch videos of people doing what you do -- you probably think it's boring, but I think it's super cool!
Thank you for the heads up!
I have a fresh water tank. I always check for cuts or sores on my hands and arms before putting them in the water. If there’s anything, I will avoid touching the water. Then I sanitize my arms and hands really well before washing them very well. I want to avoid any weird diseases or infections.
That's CRAZY. Thank God ur ok.
Thank you ❤
Well if that’s not an inducement to stop picking at my cuticles, I don’t know what is. I’ve already had a trip through the orthopedic surgeons. Don’t fancy another one. 😫
Very cool to know about, thanks for the info. Glad your doing well. I'm surprised you had never mentioned to any doctor that you constantly have your hands in aquariums. Maybe a good thing for everyone else to know is mention they are in the hobby or professional when seeing doctors. Again, glad your doing well, that's a crazy surgery to go through. Reminds me of getting cellulitis, but worse!
Thank you!!!
Thank you for sharing! Glad that you figured this out! Had no idea fishkeeping was dangerous in this way!
I just recently got into the aquarium hobby, like less than a year ago. Your video came up randomly in my feed, I watched it, and thought, well, that's interesting, but it's super uncommon and definitely won't happen to me, since I'm always wearing gloves when I'm working with my tanks. A few weeks back I accidentally sliced my finger open. A few days later I have these red bumps crawling up my arm, then both arms. I think to myself, well, this seems familiar, but no way, can't be. So I go see a doctor. Apparently can be. Now I'm on Doxycycline. Thanks for making this video.
Wow, that's crazy. Really glad you got checked out! Hoping everything goes well with your recovery!
Nice feeding solution and tank. What is the gorgonian in the middle of the tank? Looks gorgeous.
It's definitely my favorite part of the tank. I don't know what variety it is, but as soon as I saw it at my LFS I had to snatch it up.
