  • Wow, we bought this City Turbo II almost 4 years ago and shot this video at least two years ago. I'm looking forward to getting more info on this Bulldog out to you. It's a mess but it's a mess I love.

    A special thanks to those that remember this car and have been emailing me about it over the last few years. I'm sorry to have dropped the updates on it and I want to try really hard to get this car all tied up so that I can drive it as a personal car. This type of content is hard for a small team like us but it's important to me that we get it done. The next update will help fill you in on exactly how much effort it's going to be.

      I cant think of anyone that wouldn't love this little car making it's mostly happy spooly sounds! Well, except the one thumbs down guy up top.. but the rest love it!
      So cool to see the oddball cars being saved!

      More smoke in person than can be seen in the video. I'm not sure if it's compression related, or turbo related.

    Thanks for the retro blast. back about 87' I seriously considered buying a Turbo II Bulldog at a Pot Lot near Yokohama for about $5,000 U.S. Same color as yours, and only 17,000km. Surprisingly good driving car and a lot fun. At the time it did not meet U.S. DOT crash test, but EPA was a go. I was a car dealer in the U.S. at the time and thought about just driving on a Dealer plate and company insurance. In the end decided it was too much of a hassle and expense.

    I'd slap in a whole new front end kit, mount the new wheels and tires that you for sure will go with, then get it aligned. Saving money having to go back in and redo work, drives like new afterwards too.
    Most include 1) inner and outer tie rods, left and right 2) sway-bar bushing kit, left and right 3) lower ball joints, left and right 4) upper control arms with the ball joints, left and right
    Would be smart to get a coolant hose kit and an engine/transmission mount kit, too. That way you don't have old coolant hose cracking on you, and the engine's power more planted to the wheels not wobbling in the engine-bay. All new rubber in the safety areas, suspension and engine. Then I'd flush the brake fluid out with new DOT4. Replace calipers/pistons, replace rotors and pads. Then you'd have an amazing little refreshed car, suspension/brakes, all safe.

    • @PacificCoastAuto
      @PacificCoastAuto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Suspension and bushings will probably be their own video but not until the car is no longer "see through". That rust is worse than it looks.

    Its great to see you uploading videos like this again. The purchase walk around videos are cool, but I've always liked the ones like this best. Ive been watching your channel for about 6 years now and remember when you first got the City. I was actually just talking to a friend the other day about it and whatever happened to it. Glad to see its still around and I hope you'll be able to really put some love into it that it needs.

    All cars get worse by not being used. Bushings, seals, etc. Even contact surfaces like the turn signals get oxidized in this case.
