The Rocky series changed the entire trajectory of my life at the age of 13. I was a sickly asthmatic kid, and after watching them, I went on to lift weights, do mad cardio, and do some amateur boxing. I've left boxing behind, but at the age of 43, I still have a great physique and incredible fitness because Sylvester Stallone inspired me (and still does).

I know the feeling of being bullied. I was also bullied. Speaking of being bullied, you forgot one movie, "My Bodyguard". It was about a boy who was buillied in high school. He hired a bodyguard. The bully hired a bodyguard, in return. Both bodyguards got into a fight. The bodyguard of the bullied boy told the boy to fight and that he could win.
"Rocky" has always been the extreme motivator for a lot of people to presevere and to keep moving forward, no matter what odds or obstacles get in your way. Another great motivational movie is "Cool Runnings". Thanks for the upload.
Watching "The Shawshank Redemption" is like being trapped in a dark tunnel for years and then coming out into the brilliant, beautiful light of day. I wouldn't exactly call it a feel-good flick, but it's always good for watching when I need to feel better. "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin' " is great advice to live by.
" I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope. "
Excellent choices, although as usual there are some big missing movies such as the following 10 (in chronological order): - High Noon (1952); - On the Waterfront (1954); - In the Heat of the Night (1967); - Chariots of Fire (1981); - Glory (1989); - A League of Their Own (1992); - Saving Private Ryan (1998); - Seabiscuit (2003); - The King's Speech (2010); - Hacksaw Ridge (2016).
Me being a 61 yo I broke into tears just watching the short clips. Reminds me of and reawakens my inherent, limitless drive. That is less frequent in Germany where many (not all) people look more at problems than at solutions. Also what makes me a fan of the USA since me being 10 yo. Thank you so much.
I was sitting there the pursuit of happiness it’s one of my favourite films it’s so emotional and will did a great job representing the poor person that experienced this I’m so glad they’re happy now and remember my ex showing me this film and I was hooked straight away
I loved forest gump and i am sad that in my country there is a remake being made for it, but despite knowing it has a good actor, I know he cant even think of reaching Tom Hanks performance, The time Tom hanks says "But i know what love is" broke me and made me cry like anything and i still dont know why i cried that time so much for that
Solid list, but I'd say Good Will Hunting deserved a spot. A story of a troubled young man rising above his trauma and moving onward to a better future.
It's currently on HBO, though I've not been that curious about it before I watched this Top 20 list. That someone thinks it's good to watch when feeling sad or unmotivated has sparked my interest now, especially since I'm always on the lookout for interesting and inspiring films.
lol, I was freaking depressed after watching "Dead Poets Society"! Neil's death is unbearably heartbreaking and the ending for Mr. Keating is super-sad too. only good thing is that Todd finally found his voice, but with cost like this, tragic loss of his best friend? no, no thanks.
The rocket was invented in my City. Their was a little park off the road. No one cared about it when I was last there . It was overgrown . I liked The Dead Poets. Society ,. And Rocky. And The Shawshank redemption is just a great movie that has almost everything.
Although I don’t disagree with several of these pics, I feel like you have neglected a lot of research inspiring movies. Please include: wonder, the art of racing in the rain, the three movies based on the books by W Bruce Cameron, the Ron Clark story, Tyson‘s run, and the upside.
Although it is sci-fi, Star Trek is another one that can be very motivational in its own way. There were times when the characters were down and ready to give up, but they don't. They keep fighting until they are successful.
Motivational movies you need to watch These are the movies that always motivates me the most because the messages behind these movies deeply inspires me that I can carry with me how far I have came just like the characters in these movies. Hairspray The Outsiders Legally Blonde Greatest Showman Cool Runnings Moana Miss Congeniality Penelope Harry Potter movies High School Musical movies Princess diaries 1 and 2
It is also a remake from a movie of the same title (1947) with better actors, Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo. I'm not a fan of Ben Stiller or Kristen Wiig, but that aside, they should have acknowledged the original movie, just as inspiring.
ok, you missed an obvious choice.... where the effin' hell is Rudy(1993), the greatest football movie ever made and one of the most uplifting endings in movie history. Come on guys. Seriously. How do you put two football movies on here and forget the most inspiring and uplifting one ever?
Still isn't better than Remember the Titans. Not even close. Not only did they have to go against what their community was telling these young boys, they had to go against what the grew up being taught, they over came and struggled threw to become one and a unit. The coaches in the movie and in real life did amazing teaching this young men not to see color but heart. There are true historic moments and lessons. There is young men fighting for their lives. It has everything and more in a great movie and even years later after they went and had their own lives they were still bonded and a unit. Nothing beats Remember the Titans. Not a single sports movie tops it.
I'm so glad that you included A Beautiful Mind. One of my cousins is schizophrenic and it definitely takes a lot out of the family around her but overall we love and support her. It was great to see the film highlight the challenges it faces for a family.
Rocky should be number 1 & rocky 2 number 2.the tag line to rocky says it all "his whole life is a billion to one shot .rocky isnt about boxing its a love story and about standing up and saying im gonna at least try .did you know theres only 12 minutes of boxing in rocky 1?when he gets the chance to fight for the title he first turns it down.later you find out its because for the first time in his life he,ll know he isnt the bum hes been content to be all his life .this dont need to apply to boxing it could be anything .he feels he dont deserve love and he will always be a bum .rocky 1 & 2 are masterpieces ,the second shows how the love of a good woman can push a man to do anything if true love is there .it teaches its ok to fail but at least try first .rocky isnt a looser because he lost he was a looser because he never tried .everyone can learn some kind of life lesson from the rocky series not just boxing fans .shy people ,people with no hope ,and even if you fail at least you did it giving it your best with no excuses .if there was hope for rocky adrian and paulie and mickey ,then theres hope for us all .now in rockys words go out and get what your worth.
Personally my favorite motivation movie I enjoy watching is “gifted hands” I struggle with reading I didn’t quick understand y didn’t come normally like my other classmates and I understand feel like dummy, so isolate myself from my other classmates but I finished watch this film as a kid I shouldn’t give up but on myself, but I continue to push myself and right now I’m currently have 3.98 gpa in college and next year god spare my life I will have graduated with honors
Started watching the video hoping that Shawshank would be featured and was pleasantly surprised that it was number 1! ^_^ A deserving spot for a wonderful film that I have found myself re-watching many times over the course of my life :)

When I was little I called him “”The Funny Man.””
Growing up being bullied, I loved The Mighty Ducks and Karate Kid. Seeing the underdogs beating the odds is always a motivational lesson.
Sorry to hear you were bullied. Glad to hear they gave you comfort.
There are 3 parts r8? Which one is best

Rocky is just one of the greatest films ever made.

"The pursuit of happiness" is the best Will Smith movie for me
Even better that the "Oscars 2022"?
@@madman00774 Dude
Seven Pounds is also up there for me for a Will Smith movie.
I got to say Rudy was one of the best movies
The making of Rocky makes it an inspiration both on and off the screen.
The mere mention of The Shawshank Redemption and I get a lump in my throat.

Aladdin: "Genie, you're free."
To Kill a Mockingbird... I've read the book and it's a must read same for the film. It's one of the greatest ever
For me, Rocky is the best motivational movie... Ever!
The Shawshank Redemption is a masterpiece, but Rocky hits closer for me, it was one of my childhood movies.
Reading 12 Angry Men and To Kill A Mockingbird in English made 9th grade English class epic
Rocky has save me; both physically and mentally because it motivates me to never give up and try to keep moving forward and believe in myself.
Honorable mention : Gladiator
Surely Rocky is not only the top motivational movie but the greatest movie of all time!
I was sitting there the pursuit of happiness it’s one of my favourite films it’s so emotional and will did a great job representing the poor person that experienced this I’m so glad they’re happy now and remember my ex showing me this film and I was hooked straight away
I am big fan of the movie "Victory". Ironically staring Sylvester Stallone. World War II setting on a soccer match, the ending always gets me.
All are great films but evertime i hear the eye of a tiger well that brings me true inspiration
Sylvester Stallone did such an amazing job on ‘Rocky’ as both writer and film actor in the mid ‘70s.
Agree...Sly was told to sell the script for approx. $350K (circa 1975) and declined unless HE played the role "Rocky"!...Rest is history...
Lean on me is a personal favorite of mine. Morgan Freeman can do no wrong in my book. Mrs Powers take a bow, you just wrote our new school song.😊🙏💙

2) Glaring omissions:
The Elephant Man

Yep. I agree with your list!
The secret life of Walter Mitty was actually really funny and hilarious, it was kind of motivating but more comedic
It is also a remake from a movie of the same title (1947) with better actors, Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo. I'm not a fan of Ben Stiller or Kristen Wiig, but that aside, they should have acknowledged the original movie, just as inspiring.

‘8 Mile’ was a pretty decent hip hop drama movie.

Blue Sky Studio's "Robots" (2005), has inspired both me and my father to recognize to I quote: "See a need, fill a need."
Did I miss the part where "Rudy" was mentioned?
It's criminal not to have Rudy on this list.

Also "Pay it forward" is a great motivational movie.

Started watching the video hoping that Shawshank would be featured and was pleasantly surprised that it was number 1! ^_^ A deserving spot for a wonderful film that I have found myself re-watching many times over the course of my life :)
Central Intelligence could get special mention because of The Rock saying “Be the hero of your own story.”
I think this is #1 as well, but #2 should have been Robin Williams/bicentennial man!
Coach Carter ain't on here that's crazy
First last and always; Rocky. (the original, not all the others).
