      Can'rt believe you missed American Beauty! Hardly anyone realizes that it is the daughter and her boyfriend who are charged with murder and convicted, while the true murderer walks free. If you want a fuller explanation of why it is in the director's commentary.

    Also an important thing to remember in Inception, is that Cobb mentions, in his dreams, he is never able to see his kids. When he turns around, he wakes up before he can see them. To me, this is the clearest indication that he was not dreaming.

    With "Birdman", I assumed the big twist was he actually flew at the end and that's why you hear him laughing during the end credits, paralleling the end of the Revenant where you know Leo is still alive because you hear him breathing through the credits and "if you can hear him breathe, he's still alive" is the first line of that movie, both by the same director. With Birdman, you're always trying to figure out if he's crazy or concealing the ability to levitate.

    • @koboldmaki6014
      @koboldmaki6014 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I came to a similar conclusion with Birdman. I never thought he could actually fly, but I thought that the parallels he finds in his career and his personal life somewhat got so tangled that a sense of reality didn't matter anymore. As Sam sees him flying, they don't matter to her anymore either. So what is "real" doesn't bare a significance anymore. Not in a way of "sane" and "insane", just how we perceive reality.

    • @Heathcoatman
      @Heathcoatman ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually had the opposite interpretation. Emma looks down at his body, then imagines he's finally free and flying away as she looks up. He's not a bird, he fell and died. The entire bird fantasy is just that, a fantasy. It's poignant because it illustrates how people are caught up in their fantasy worlds and beliefs, a common theme in real life.

    You forgot to add the butterfly effect and the final destination film series. Most of these movies also assume that the future, after alteration, still tries to remain the same, but perhaps it is always always altered, and never repeats. If parallel universes exist we don’t have access to any of them, except the one we live in.

    The thing about Rambo though and what Colonel Troutman said is weird to me. How did Rambo do everything he could to make that mess happen? They just wouldn't leave Rambo alone and kept pushing and pushing and yes finally he put his foot down and karma kicked in. But he certainly was not looking for trouble. Just the opposite. The sheriff just had to pick on him. So I disagree with that bit unless someone can enlighten me in a way they did not in this video. I have always disagreed with that line in the movie that the colonel spoke. It could simply be said that Colonel Troutman was in the moment and knowing what kind of fighter Rambo is, just assumed this. He was not there since the beginning. He does not know what really happened. So he would be misinformed if anything. Especially with the big bad sheriff acting as if it's all Rambo's fault. Anyway, I grew up with that movie. One of my fav action movies ever.

    • @mag9sp1
      @mag9sp1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I agree with you. I think the meaning of Rambo is just like the new movie the Joker. Society is responsible for its heroes and villains. The abusive cops made Rambo the villain at that moment in their eyes. However, society needs to realize that what it says is okay (cops just doing their jobs) is making villains out of people who just want to be left alone -like Rambo and Joker.

      Absolutely right. Rambo does everything he can through out the film to get away from conflict He does this despite being capable of causing great harm. He escapes the police station without killing anyone,he retreats into the woods, he spares the sheriff’s group, and he avoids engaging the national guard units despite later films clearly showing he could have taken them out easily. He was just pushed too far.

    Good job on the Kubrick film analyses. The A Clockwork Orange was spot on. 2001 is intentionally ambiguous with Star Child having destroyed the Earth in Clarke and Kubrick’s novel written for the film. Where you got name “First Borns” is a mystery not in the book or the film, but understandable nonetheless. Kubrick said Jack was reincarnated. However, that does not mean his spirit wasn’t incorporated into the Overlook. Because it was. The camera tracking down the hall to look at the picture was clearly the POV of Jack walking to see his picture in the Overlook. The 1976 Dan Curtis film “Burnt Offerings” that came out a few years before The Shining provided the same concept. Burnt Offerings is the literal definition of Holocaust, which was one theme among many in the film emphasized by the repeated use of the number 42, the year of the Final Solution. Jack is the evil spirit of the caretaker who has always been there.

    The dark night rises one is easy. The film points out that the autopilot is broken, so when they again points out at that the autopilot was in the last minute fixed by bruce, it indicates he jumped out early and let the plane drive itself out to the ocean

      Also Alfred is not there, if the idea was to have him imagine that, we should have seen him witness that moment. As the only one there is Fox shows that that actually happened and Bruce really managed to fix the auto pilot

    Finally someone brings up the true Inception ending. Everything the movie tells us point towards Cobb is still dreaming.
    He says he don’t want to see his kids before he knows they’re real. After everything he’s been through, he looks at them before the top topples, which completely corrupts the power of his totem. It can now topple within the dream just fine because he accepted it as reality. Also further emphasized by totems necessity of being secret, but Cobb uses Mals totem.
    Furthermore James says the last sentence in the movie; “we build a house on a cliff” - the very house they’re in, indicating that Cobb have used inception on his own kids, making them the architects. In reality, Mal is likely to have her entire family in coma, as she’s the only one who escaped.

    The end of The Graduate was unscripted as the actors got on the bus and the director kept rolling film after they did their celebration The look of lost is because cut wasn't called and the actors weren't sure what to do next When they saw it in the editing process, they thought the look of uncertainty was the perfect way to end the film
