Has anyone really tried Dave's trick at the bank and asked the manager for a loan like that? I think Banks will NOT entertain the caller as they are not paying their car loan, why would the bank entertain Dave's stupid request?
If the co-signor has no net worth the bank has no choice , just let the car go back and the bank is on the hook for all the loss , their credit will be ruined but who cares.
Yea it doesn’t work like this nowadays. The bank manager has no authority to push loans through. They all have higher departments with no public access for underwriting. The manager will try to reach out to that department but will be told there is no deviation from policy. These banks aren’t sticking their necks out for anyone right now and they would rather let the naked portion of the loan die with a loan package that was already approved before based on appropriate merits. They don’t care about that $13k. They have to protect their underwriting process.
Happened pretty often in the last 3 years. Unfortunately, sleazy dealers would talk people into car payments, not ever discussing the total price of the vehicle. Easy to blame the consumer, but the average consumer never learned any of this in school.
@@markaustin5269 The average US consumer has very little understanding of how debt even works, and car salesmen exploit this. You would be surprised how many Gen Z's don't even understand what payment interest is let alone the MSRP of a vehicle.

Keep everything separate until you’re married. Her finances are her problem and my finances are mine, until (IF) we get married.. You’ll see if she lasts or not.
Back in 2020 my GF co signed for me because I was in need of a car but, because of the pandemic, we managed to get the car at 0 percent interest which is hard to get today lol. Anyways since then I fixed my credit, I now make good money and I paid the car off 3 years early. I wanted to get it off her credit ASAP and now we live together and are planning to get married so everything worked out great but we were already together for 2 years about time time the pandemic kicked in. So I now own the car free and clear, my credit is in good standning, and we both make over 100k a year each so we doing pretty good. There is always room to do better and we making small steps to do so but, over all we are in a good spot.
This is a very standard example of why the car lending industry is doomed to fail. While the price of cars and thus the loans for the cars have gone up significantly, the value of the car has not kept pace. The reality will be billions of dollars on loans for vehicles worth less then half of what the loan is for, so when the massive wave of repossessions eventually happens, those banks are going to go under. Then our government will almost certainly be there to bail them out.
I had a boy friend who said he’d save me money by putting a van in his name. After we broke up he kept it. I feel he stole it from me, a struggling single mom. Lesson learned.
NEVER CO-SIGN for ANYONE - PERIOD !!! NEVER EVER DO THIS !!! IF YOU NEED TO CO-SIGN THAT MEANS THAT MEANS THAT PERSON CANNOT AFFORD IT ON THEIR OWN 🙄🙄🙄🙄
This girl signed with him on his charger and he financed the tax, dealer fees, under coating, paint protection and maybe even the bad debt on the previous car. People don't get that if they don't have cash they really can't affort the crap
That credit union manager isn't going to give a rip. They've got her on the hook, so if payments aren't made, they'll repo the car. There will be a deficiency balance, owed to the bank after the car is sold, (the difference between what's owe on the car, plus any fees, and what they actually get for the car) and she has to pay for that. If she doesn't pay, they'll get a judgement and attach her wages. You can bet the boyfriend will be gone by the time it comes to that. The fact that she's looking for another loan is scary, since she's looking to take on even more debt. Calls like this make me so happy I'm debt free, and have never co-signed for anyone.
If the car loans were initiated after you got married, it's marital debt and the lenders can sue both of you even if the loan is only in one person's name.
@@megalodon1726 I know that is not the case for houses, I had my wife quit claim so, I could Title as Married man, sole and separate property. She was not working, refi was easier. This woman is a classic enabler. Sorry. If someone's dating someone who's an ADULT and can't get a car loan on his own, you may want to rethink your dating and relationship and self esteem situations. I know that's a harsh thing to say, but I've seen it way too many times - with women especially, being enablers for their "men" or boyfriends who are perpetually irresponsible. Just the fact that this guy needed a cosigner at all, coupled with the fact that (surprise!!!!!!!!) he's missed payments on the underwater loan, is as big of a red flag as there can be. Finally, what the hell is HE doing about this situation while she tries, MORONICALLY, to take out a personal loan to clean up HIS mess???? My prediction based on dozens upon dozens of similar situations I've PERSONALLY witnessed throughout my years of knowing and working with women just like this one with a "man" at home, especially in this culture? It won't change a thing. She'll STILL take care of him. Bet the farm on it. I'll NEVER understand it. Not smart.
I did this in my 20s for my boyfriend. 100% financed a motorcycle for him. Then we broke up. THEN I traded in the motorcycle for a jet ski. BECAUSE this guy from my job said hey why don't you trade it in for a jet ski and I'll help pay the bill every month, which he did. But gah, what an idiot I was!
Hyundai builds the Elantra, not Honda. There's a big difference in the resale between a Honda and a Hyundai. I mean this might sound petty but a 2021 Honda will retain 85% of it's new value while a Hyundai the same year will retain 70%. New car smell makes people turn into ignorant fools, and I'm no exception. But I learned my lesson and if you are smart you will let others make the mistake and learn from that without having to go through that pain yourself. Unfortunately pain is the best teacher there is. I wish this woman good luck and I hope this sticks with her for the rest of her life.
Thanks for doing that lesson for the rest of us... because it's common sense and knowledge that new cars are not worth it and 99.99% of them lose their value. I tell people all the time to find a reputable used car dealer and buy other people's used and discounted cars. Bonus if you find a good deal on a car with a rebuilt title. That's what I did... back in 2015 I paid 12k cash for a 2014 Nissan Altima that only had 9k miles on it. I've only had to replace a wheel bearing assembly so far on it and it's about to hit 90k miles.
@@TheFlyingZulu That is too hilarious. I have a small used car lot and I bought a 2014 Altima at the auction back in October with a rebuilt title. Now it had a 142k miles when I bought it but I personally drove it 3000 miles over the following 3 weeks to my night job and running errands and such to make sure it was good. It is an absolute awesome car and I now have it on my lot for sale at 25% under KBB. Some one will get a great and dependable car for much less than it would be otherwise and the only real issue is a little mismatch on the paint that you can only see when the light is just right! Excellent tip, thank you!
@@1967davethewaveToo cool... another tip on that year of Nissan Altimas is that the NS-3 transmission fluid needs to be changed about every 30-50k miles and they need to be driven very gently. If not that metal belt in the CVT tends to break easily.
@@TheFlyingZuluThanks for another tip. I had never owned a Nissan before I started my car lot about a year ago but have since really started to like them. I sold a Juke just last week and it was really a decent little SUV, everything worked like heated seats and all the locks and windows and it drove really good. Definitely on par with Toyotas and Hondas.

These geniuses owe $32K on a car worth $19K? Jeeze-o-pete!
Happened pretty often in the last 3 years. Unfortunately, sleazy dealers would talk people into car payments, not ever discussing the total price of the vehicle. Easy to blame the consumer, but the average consumer never learned any of this in school.
@@XennialGuy The average consumer has little problem willingly going into car debt. You can only blame sleazy dealers for so much.
@@markaustin5269Chad an Tyrone lol
@@markaustin5269 The average US consumer has very little understanding of how debt even works, and car salesmen exploit this. You would be surprised how many Gen Z's don't even understand what payment interest is let alone the MSRP of a vehicle.
Not yet mention on a hyundai
In my experience with credit unions is that they preferred repo it and just sell the debt to a collection agency
Yup
And make another $4-6k in the process that they can write off.
$32,000 for a Hyundai Elantra??? YIKES!!!
No way😮!
32k on a brand new elantra.. they have not paid 1 dime on that loan. brand new with tax u buy them for 28k. its been over a year ya wonder why its only 19k worth
They rolled negative equity into the loan.
A couple of my friends had their credit completely destroyed by co signing loans for their boyfriends. Both men stopped paying for the car almost as soon as they drove it off the lot.
Never ever Co sign
Just me reporting spam of all these scammers trying to take advantage of already struggling people on daves youtube videos.... this world is screwed up....
I think she made an emotional decision.
STUPID decision
Not uncommon for young people. She will learn.
God bless you Dave!! 👏🏽
He knows he messed up. There is hope yet for this guy.
though beans and rice provides survivable nutrition, i would highly suggest adding some eggs and ground beef into the mix so that you don't become deficient in b12 or anything.
To be very honest u don’t need to own a car if u have debt( unless the car brings in an income or it takes u to work where a bus is not possible. The biggest killer of savings is car payments
I'll never for the life of me understand why broke people makes themselves broker for a stupid car that should be considered wildly out of their price range
Keep everything separate until you’re married. Her finances are her problem and my finances are mine, until (IF) we get married.. You’ll see if she lasts or not.
32k in debt for an old hyundai elantra wow!!
He rolled in negative equity from a prior loan.
Did she say it's a 2021 Honda Elantra? Instead of Hyundai? LOL. She doesn't even know the brand of car she signed for. 5:20
I had a boy friend who said he’d save me money by putting a van in his name. After we broke up he kept it. I feel he stole it from me, a struggling single mom. Lesson learned.
She doesn't even know what kind of car it is. SMH. Honda doesn't make an Elantra.
Financial boundaries help keep us safe. I have co signed before in life but I was married at the time. Thank you 🤔❤🇺🇸
5:35 So what exactly is a Honda Elantra? Lol...
5:26 called the bad debt missed the hyundai. How the heck do you finance for that much
That credit union manager isn't going to give a rip.
I think one brave soul should make up the worst story ever and call in to talk to Dave. Let’s see how red we can get him. 🤣
These REAL stories are nightmare enough!! Lol😅

This show has already heard it all.
Even if you’re married, the only debt you should co-sign together is your house. My car is in my own name and my husband’s in his. Simpler that way.
?????
If your husband has the mortgage, why would you ADD yourself to the loan?
If the car loans were initiated after you got married, it's marital debt and the lenders can sue both of you even if the loan is only in one person's name.
@@megalodon1726 I know that is not the case for houses, I had my wife quit claim
so, I could Title as Married man, sole and separate property. She was not working,
refi was easier.
I latter change the Title to community property with rights of survivorship.
She had to sign that she accepted 1/2 ownership.
Also, the day of legal separation is filed (not divorce), financial separation occurs.
Not smart.
He's a bad boy and women love bad boys.
Look out, lady 😢
Take the credit hit and tell the bank to come get the car. We did it. They never came after us for 10 grand. 10 years ago. Poof, gone.
That is bad advice. They make good money
@@TheFlyingZulumaxima too. We have one and we change the transmission fluid every two years. So far so good CVT is still ok
My god... who in their right mind buys a car they can't afford and takes out a loan for 32k... The damn things go down in value so bad it's not even funny.
It’s amazing how women will put up with such ridiculous things from Chad and Tyrone because of the excitement and tingles the toxic relationship gives them. Then they hit the wall in their 30s and suddenly have a laundry list of requirements and bitterness towards the rest of men out there.
i bet you dont have a gf or make 50k lol. enough with the virtue signal red pill crap.
You left out making a couple babies in their 20's that neither Chad nor Tyrone can afford or are willing to support.

I agree w Dave however if they were married this would still be the same situation. She co signed. Married doesn't change their bad decision and doesn't change the Math
NEVER co-sign!
I thought it is a turnoff for women that a guy isn't financially stable yet we have callers like this that they cosign / loan their men money which the guys can't afford in the first place. where do I find women like this that would dive head first for me, oh that's right, gotta be a bad boy that is bad enough to pull something like this first
Come in, catch up! Men are leaving women with their babies with NO money for support. This is today’s normal.
@@jet4415 nah, just never put women before you then you will be safe

Get a personal loan, invest it in Dave’s mythical 12% mutual funds. Double your money every 5 yrs. Sheesh. Looks like George is still on secret probation from his audacity in suggesting a safe 4% withdrawal rate which angered the cult leader.
A good lesson here - don't buy a new car if you can't afford it. That thing has dropped its value in by something like 35-45% in 2 years. You would save so much money by buying a decent used car that is like 3 years old or something.
Dang not the Honda Solantra 😢
Dave is annoyed!!
A good man will not let you co-sign for something you can’t afford. He’d say “no babe I can’t let you do that”

This woman got duped 😂😂😂 don't feel sorry for her. Her bf sounds like a broke Chad 😅
I wouldn’t even co-sign a car loan with my husband right now, let alone with Chad or Tyrone. Holy crap ladies, get a brain.
If your husband gets a loan while married to you, it's marital debt and you're responsible for it anyway if a lender wants to pursue you.
They can't pay the car with 60kand 55k? Really.
People get into a relationship to use the significant other down to the ground these days. I hope they figure this out
