Today’s video is all about vasopressors drugs for Nursing Students and NCLEX Review.
Vasopressors are drugs used to increase blood pressure and cardiac output in patients with hypotension or shock. But because they do this by constricting blood vessels, they can also cause some side effects like nausea and headaches.
We're going over the different types of vasopressor drugs, their uses, and their associated side effects.

I don't know if you will read this because your post is 2 months old. I want to thank you for this. I'm trying to document what has happened to me over the last couple years health wise. 3 days ago, I was released from the hospital 8 days after being admitted for sceptic shock. When I went into the ED my BP as 60/30. It took max doses of these three meds to bring me back. I also know this isn't my first time having them. The first time was 2 days after being released from the first hospital stay with Covid. After being on the ventilator for two times and 8 days in total I developed Urosepsis. FYI, my wife is a senior nurse at my hospital's Emergency Department.

Clonidine is an alpha 2 agonist, centrally acting antihypertensive. Prazosin is a non-selective alpha 1 antagonist, lowers BP.

I totally agreed! Something with his voice it’s nice and clear. My clinical instructor talks fast and sometimes I feel like he mumbles and on top of that I just don’t understand him ..gotta put up with it 😞

Very nice video! Just to be clear clonide is an α2-adrenergic Agonist. It stimulates α2 receptors in the brainstem, which decreases peripheral vascular resistance, lowering blood pressure.

I'm a bit confused about clonidine, because it is used as an antihypertensive, but I read it is an alpha agonist and stimulates release of noradrenaline both of which act to vasoconstrict the vessels and increase the BP?

Levophed is not a last line drug. Levophed is a first line drug especially in septic shock and multifactorial shock states.

So I really don’t know how to explain this. But could epinephrine have its uses in combat? Let’s say you suffered a gunshot wound. After you applied the tourniquet and did all the necessary steps, would injecting a small amount of epinephrine into your bloodstream be beneficial?
