Thank you nurse Mike. I made it though nursing school because of simple nursing and now I'm back on your videos to try to help my student that I'm precepting.
Coming back and watching this for fun after graduating and being an ICU nurse for 4 months, literally every patient has some sort of shock or sepsis and this all became second nature.

Dopamine is a vasopressor and is not given in cardiogenic shock because it will make the problem worse. There is already over-constriction, and dopamine will only amplify that. We need to fix the cause of the shock, for example, going to the cath lab to place a stent, initiating a nitride drip, etc. However, a positive inotrope called dobutamine is given because it increases the effectiveness of contractions.
Im such a visula learner these videos are gold for me. I bought archer yet its jsut a person lecturing for hours i just cant stay focus. This is perfect, and helps me visualize to remember things.
I am a student from China, I listened to some of the lessons on TH-cam and found the animations plus explanations very interesting, I purchased the lessons on the website and found the lessons with animations very easy to remember, but some of the lessons are still written on the blackboard, which is a little hard for me to understand (because of language problems) I hope to update these lessons in time and turn them into animated form, I will recommend them to me to prepare for the exam together Nclex_RN's students. Thank you very much to the team at simple nursing for making such an excellent video. Thank you!
Thank you soooo much for this video. I’m not a nurse but in EMT training. I’m one of those people who need to know “why” instead of just remembering facts. I love how you give the reasoning behind how shock manifests! I was having difficulty differentiating each one as they are soooo similar. I think neurogenic shock stood out as the most different as the heart rate and skin are the most unique from the rest.
Love the pictures with the videos. They make thing more clear. Thanks for putting so much effort to make it easy and simple for people like me to understand.

Im not sure the NCLEX answer but since septic shock causes leaky capillaries you need to replace fluids first, antibiotics can’t work fast enough to help the patient. Realistically they’re at the same exact time in real life right but if you ask yourself “what’s going to kill them first” and that’s going to be the severe hypotension secondarily the sepsis.
Hello Mike.. so let’s say the patient’s oxygen saturation is 84% on room air & you want initiate oxygenation, must you still lower the head of the bed?
