The M8 was one of the nicest smartphones I ever used. I worked for AT&T during the release. I never had issues with returns on it, like other android stuff. Up until that phone, if you didn’t sell an iPhone or a Samsung phone, it would be a problem/return. The M8 changed that. Seeing that box definitely brought back memories. Thanks Denki

I currently own and am still rocking the HTC U12+ and let me tell you, there is nothing like the epic edgesense features. I still have my u11 but the u12 took gestures to the next level. better and quicker and more intuitive than Motorola. you can squeeze to open any app or quick toggle the flashlight airplane mode any setting and on top of that you had squeeze actions within apps, mind blowing tech, Also you could double tap either side to actuate another function or additional app, AMAZING. The HTC U12+ is the best smartphone I've ever used and I constantly have had buyers remorse and sell or return all if not most modern smartphones I've picked up. I've gone through Samsung flips and folds and Motorola razr, and even my favorite oneplus; I've ended up feeling mehh because these devices still cant bring the wow factor for me. The HTC u11 and 12+ are the most remarkable smartphones ever made. once you experience edge sense, it almost makes it impossible to enjoy any other device.

I had an HTC Desire(can't remember the model number) that I bought at Walmart around 2015 for about $240. While I really liked the overall setup and UI, it ran hot often. Like I could've fried an egg on the back and literally had to turn the phone off to cool it down to even do basics. It was good on most tasks but that massive overheating permanently soured me on the HTC brand overall.

I still have my htc one m9 and htc one max. I wish that htc made a modern specs version of the htc one m9 and htc one max with larger capacity battery like 5,000 mah, 256gb as the base storage capacity, while still retaining the boom sound front facing speakers, use usb c, the headphone jack but have a hifi dac, micro sd card slot, physical sim card slot and have full 5g support. My first htc phone was the htc one m7. The snapdragon 600 on the htc one m7 and other android phones that used the snapdragon 600 was considered a flagship processor during that era before the snapdragon 700 and 800 became more available on newer models of phones. Nowadays, the snapdragon 600 series processors are considered mid range processors. I miss the era of android phones that used the micro usb port because there was so many variety of android phones from a bunch of manufacturers. The manufacturers were willing to try out new things and try taking risks to make there phones different from each other. All the modern phones look the same. The modern htc phones are midrange phones like the htc u23 pro and htc u24 pro that uses the mid range processors. However, the 2 htc phones that I mentioned looks like the rest of the modern android phones. I use the sony xperia 1iv as my primary android phone and the lg V30 as my portable hi res audio player due to its hifi quad dac. I miss when lg made phones with there hifi dac chips in them.

I miss HTC so much. My first smartphone ever was the HTC Status which I still love till this day with it's unique form factor and quirkiness. Then I moved to the HTC One X+ which was cutting edge at the time. Eventually I got the HTC Desire Eye (there's a forgotten one) that I used for EIGHT YEARS and it still works perfectly today! Eventually I had to switch brands since I couldn't get HTCs anymore and went to ZTE. I got the Axon M dual screen thing and it was fun and novel for awhile but got annoying at the time because I had to use the camera alot for my job. Swapped that out for a ZTE Axon 10 Pro which was incredible with it's 12GB of RAM but ZTE's got banned in the US and AT&T wouldn't let me use it on their network anymore after they ended 3G support even though I had been using that phone on 4G for a while already. Bounced from OnePlus to Samsung and am currently using a Flip 5 (which the novelty is wearing off of) so I'm probably gonna go back to my S21 Ultra.

I remember once a co-worker of mine accidentally swatted her hand, which hit my phone off my hand, causing it to fall to the floor screen first. Miraculously, the screen didn't crack and nothing else broke thankfully. I wish phone makers would go back to taking risks with unique designs, to make things competitive again.

honestly a htc one m8 with updated internals would be a perfect phone today. I do not care about slim bezels, or having the thinnest most powerful phone. What i loved was the simplicity, and elgancy of design on the hardware and software combined. A different era for sure . I miss three things.
One: My windows phone. I had a Lumia 520, later i wanted a 1020 because of its' photo capabilities, but MS let the os dry out and die, they rather choose to leak in the play store and now everyone uses MS Office on their smart devices. I really loved how well optimised the WP8 system was, it never slowed down on me, and even though it had a 5Mp camera, you could take really really great pictures with it. With less hardware it outperformed the android counterpart Xperia phones. Lovely little soapbox.
The other one is innovation in design. Ever since smartphones started to sell better, we only have glass slabs and a somewhat generic body. It is BORING! I was so hyped when the LG G5 and the Wing debuted, those ideas were totally great, and i really loved their quirkiness too. Later on Xiaomi came with similarly cool ideas like the Mi Mix 2 that had its camera at the bottom of the screen, or the Mi Mix Alpha concept that was totally a game changer. But today nobody wants to make a unique designed phone, because it would not sell well. Moto keeps the flame on, and Huawei really jumped a huge step with the trifold phone, but maaan i would kill for a great design phone.
The third one is the compact form factor. Asus heard the calls of people who do not want a phone that only can be used with two hands because nowadays phones are as big as a tablet :D It is more safe if you have a compact phone that can handle the task just as well if not better than a huge screened phone. Foldables kinda makes a bridge on this gap if we look on the new Razr, but is still a long way to be totally enjoyable.

Thumbs up if you think that they should drop a limited release of a M8 Remake... Maybe slimmer bezels and a 120hz OLED, best possible camera upgrade allowable without changing the design and flagship internals. Kinda like what they do for retro games.

The only thing that always bothered me about the m8 is the placement of the "buttons". If you look at the m7 and m4 (mini) they had the back and home buttons on the bezel that contains the HTC-logo, while the m8 puts them on the screen, like why? The bezel is still there, it'd make the appearance much cleaner, by giving that bezel a purpose again and make the screen less cluttered

I had HTC M8 back in the day and I loved it.
I have the U23 Pro as a side device but its not really the same.
I miss the front facing speaker and the UI is pretty much the same as what you get on the pixel/sony/motorola etc..

The G1 was such a bas ass phone when it came out.- The flip out screen and the roller ball were so satisfying to use - loved that phone

The screens on the HTC one used to make the phone so hot to the touch. It was kinda wild tbh 💀

HTC, Motorolla and now the Ulefone, are my prefered phone brands. Great qualtiy for price offering. Their upper mid phones beat a lot of top end phones.

i had that HTC phone, really love the speaker and the design of its time, the problem is that it has a camera purple problem and its been an issue by most of the people on that device

My first smartphone was an HTC phone with touch screen and sliding physical keyboard. I thought it was the coolest phone ever the first time I saw it. Then I eventually got the modular HTC phone, can't remember the name, but it looked similar to the m8.
