In the books about the old republic... it was Jedi inaction that caused a few to revoke their status and join the war at hand that lead to the Sith. Interesting how the pendulum has swung back as the jedi now are soldiers/generals and the sith...

"Why's the General coughing? What happened to him?"
    Windu happened to him.
In the 2D-animated clone wars movie (by guys that did Samurai Jack, not the cgi one) Grievous catches all sorts of bodies, but Mace Windu force-chokes his chest, fucking up his lungs.
Grievous was originally some alien warlord who got decimated, and kept alive in a cyborg body; basically a beta-test for what they'd use to make Vader.

My favorite fan theory is that Palpatine did learn the life creation technique from his master, Darth Plaegus. He used the skill to siphon off Padme's life force and give it to Vader to keep him alive. That's why "she was alive... I felt it..." He was actually feeling her life. Palpatine smiles right as Vader is going "Nooooo!!!". Palpatine knows what he did. And he knows Vader will exist in pain thinking it was his own doing.

    • @HellNaught
      @HellNaught 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

My personal theory is Count Dooku lost on purpose; since Jedi arent supposed to execute people he would be jailed but could expose Sideous... He straight wrecks Anakin and Obi Wan multiple times, including the start of this fight, yet never shows Sith eyes nor does he act out of emotions or hate. He is actually trying to help all the planets the Republic basically dumped on, Sideous just out played his move.

You CAN die from a broken heart, I’ve seen it in person. Years ago when I was a cop, we got a medical call to assist an ambulance. The patient was an older, heavy man who had a heart attack on his front yard. As the medics were performing CPR, his wife came out of the house and saw the stare of him. She ended up passing out, what we thought. She died right there in the front yard knowing she was losing her husband. None of the medical personnel could explain it. 39:09 The reason it took so long for Yoda to make his move on the Emperor was intentional, he was giving Obi-Wan enough time to have found and confronted Vader, so they could be attacking both Sith simultaneously, so they could not come to each other’s aid and be killed separately. They needed to take them out with stealth, separately, and a bit of surprise.

So to answer your question on General Grievous, he's actually a cyborg with a mostly robotic body but he still has a few of his internal organs. Once when he was battling Mace Windu, Windu used the force to crush Grievous' chest which resulted in significant damage to his lungs and a permanent cough. I don't wanna say too much more in case you ever get around to watching the animated series, but I will say that he gets a lot more screen time and you get to see just why he has such a reputation for being very dangerous

Just to mention, the droids appear to be trash... against Jedi. But, EVERYONE is trash against a Jedi.
Jedi are "super weapons". Droids are good soldiers, but only against their intended targets, regular human soldiers. If you remember, they were a fair match when fighting clones, apples-to-apples, and in Episode 1, when Queen Amidala’s forces were trying to get back into the palace, they were stalled out at points, because droids are effective when/where intended.

At the end during your review, you mentioned that the Jedi council was aware of what was going on in the force, but couldn't sense what Sidious was doing... think back to Ep 1, yoda says Anakins future is cloudy. Ep 2, at the beginning, Yoda says the dark side clouds everything, impossible to see the future is... then at the end says that the shroud of the dark side has fallen... essentially meaning that through dark side manipulation, Sidious was able to cloud their vision and keep them busy focused on the war.

    Fun facts:
The reason Anakin wanted to be a Master so badly was because he believed there was information inside the Jedi Archives that could save Padme from death, however the section he believed the information to be was locked off to anyone who wasn't a Master.
Palpatine was the one giving Anakin the visions of Padme's death, yet another manipulation tactic to groom Anakin to be desperate and stand at his side.
The reason Anakin decided to jump behind Obi Wan at the end of their duel (before getting his legs and arm cut off), was because he wanted to humiliate Obi Wan by defeating him with the same move Obi Wan defeated Maul with years earlier in Phantom Menace when he jumped behind Maul and cut him in half.
Palpatine was angry with Anakin/Vader for losing to Obi Wan and almost left him on Mustafar to die. He also purposefully made Vader's suit very outdated and weak, so it would continuously cause Vader pain, that he would dwell on and use, thus making Vader's connection to the dark side stronger. He also made the suit much more susceptible to force lightning, so he'd never have to *really* worry about Vader betraying him.

One of the worst most saddest things about order 66 that i remember hearing about is that in the lore the Jedi Master Plo Koon actually personally trained with the clones and he even formed friendships with alot of them

The Clone Wars animated series shows that a lot of Jedi formed close friendships with the clone troopers. The troopers were bioengineered to obey Order 66, and they didn't know what the order meant until it was given. Like a form of hypnosis with a trigger phrase (aided by some implant technology).

General Greivous, the coughing Droid, is a cyborg. He used to have a body and a mind of his own, he was a fierce warrior on his home planet. A capable leader and general, he became filled with hate and anger after his lover was killed in battle. The chancellor Palpatine and count dooku learned of his prowess and skill as a fierce warrior and general of his people, and believed they could use him as a pawn for the dark side. Count Dooku came to his world and set up a bombing of the ship that Greivous was on. He was nearly killed in the blast, losing most of his body. The little that remained of Greivous was taken by Dooku and he was transformed into the cyborg you see here. The only thing that is left of the living breathing warrior general he once was is his crappy ass lungs, heart and brain. Dooku tortured and brainwashed him, making him the general of the largest droid army in the the galaxy, and turned all his hate toward the Jedi and republic making him into a terrible weapon against any jedi master... except obi wan. His extensive collection of lightsabers was a testament to his skill and prowess in his ability to kill jedi, and he did that ruthlessly. But obi wan wasn't just your average jedi. I can't remember the Lightsaber forms, but the one that obi wan mastered was a defensive style, and when I say he mastered that defensive form, I mean MASTERED, to the point that he was able to hold his own and even defeat not only Greivous, but the chosen one Anakin, who was much stronger with the force than obi wan at this point, and more skilled offensively with a lightsaber.
In the clone wars cartoon in the early 2000s, greivous is shown as the jedi terminator he was meant to be, his only objective to kill them and add to his lightsaber collection. He is also much more focused on as a main villain in the Clone Wars animated series that came after the cartoon version. Loved your reaction, greetings from Idaho!

force drain - the darkside ability to suck the lifeforce form others to stay alive.
this can be done, even millions of away from their victims, but it has to be someone a force user have a strong connection with.
darth vader unknowingly did this, with the "knowing" guidance of darth sidious, to padmé when she was giving birth to the twins & that is why she died... but it was not from a broken heart.
This was the secret of darth plageus, "who had the ablilty to "keep others from dying".
force heal: luke skywalker does the opposite to his knights, if they are gravely injured or sick, on other planets, he can them force energy, to stay alive, until that person can be treated.
luke skywalker, of the new jedi order, is only force user who can do this, because he's most powerful force user, ever recorded in 10,000 yr history of the jedi.
this can be verified in the star wars novels & comics... before the Disney takeover.

WE ARE HAPPY TO HAVE YOU!
You consistently and outstandingly NAIL this R+R game but with Star Wars series you've truly blown me away. Or whatever is beyond "away." Detroit, I guess. Me and R2, chillin'.
That Gatorade comment took me OUT. I hope they put it on my tombstone because that was a perfect kill and deserves to be remembered.
General Grievous was a cyborg, basically. His species was Khaleesh (I might be misspelling). He had a terminal illness and essentially had to replace nearly all his organic bits with cybernetic ones. He was sort of ... Vader, but without the Force-sensitivity. His eyes, heart, lungs, and brain, I believe, were all that was left of his organic body.
You're SO RIGHT regarding Padme's shock about Anakin murdering kids. The thing is, the three of them, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Padme had their own brands of dysfunction and toxicity but they brought it out a trillion-fold in each other. Especially Anakin and Obi-Wan, and for many reasons. People never hate someone that hard unless they love or used to love them.
And literally ALL this drama and eff-ery was to the Force's plan. Even the Emperors own plan and actions were part of the Force's plan. Anakin brings balance to the Force by not just extinguishing the Jedi, but by destroying the last of the Sith, too (the Emperor and himself). He COULD have fought to live at the end of Ep. 6 but he finally understood how he was meant to fulfill his existence by finally destroying the Sith. When Yoda said "misread, the prophecy might have been," he wasn't BS-ing. Even Jedi Masters sometimes see only what they want to see. "Destroy the Sith! WHOOOT!" But then ignore the parts that hint that for the Force to be balanced, the Jedi also must end because essentially, the Jedi had begun trying to manipulate fate/the Force in their own favor, just as Sith do.
What Star Wars, as a concept and series, does better than anything out there is the self-fulfilling prophecies. The more folks try to run from the fate the Force has in store, the harder they run toward that fate. Even Yoda is guilty of that, hence him going into exile for "failing." Thankfully, he took the L and stopped trying to perpetuate the Jedi Order and put the last of his life into listening to and helping to balance the Force according to the Force's will. Obi-Wan was, in the sense that he listened closely to the Force, a better Jedi than Yoda. So, for that matter, was Qui Gon Jinn.
Twenty years after the fact, I've really begun--age and experience, I suppose--to appreciate the themes and character arcs and truths of the prequels. There plenty of patches of crappy dialogue, etc. But the machinations of all the players in the galaxy? SPOT ON. And them self-fulfilling prophecies, tho! Literally EVERYONE in this is their own worse enemy, with few exceptions (Obi-Wan and R2 come to mind). That's what makes the series so relatable. The self-sabotages and self-owns are truly EPIC. I didn't fully appreciate that angle as a teens and twenty-something but I sure as hell do now!
WELCOME to STAR WARS-HELL! You have a lot of company and we're all glad to have you!

    • @Cre80s
      @Cre80s 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

True. And what makes the prequels less significant to the original trilogy is the OT was a plot-driven story supported by great characters. The PT was a character-driven story supported by a mediocre plot. Prequels are inherently inferrior, all of them, because the tension is abated by the fact we know who doesn't die. I mean, Jay's a great example, saying it out loud several times, "I'm not even nervous, I know he won't die". We all "think" we want to see prequels to stuff we liked, and we're "given" them by studios eager for another "trip to the well", but they just can't be as good by their very nature.

There is a fan theorie that I like. Palpatine use the force to take Padme's life and heal Anakin. A Jedi/Sith can use the Force to siphon lifeforce from one person to another. But there needs to be a strong emotional connection between the too people. That is how you can use the Force to stop someone from dying! It comes at a great cost to the person that you are saving, the life of someone the person is strongly emotional attached to. It is a terrible power to use, and there for considered part of the Dark Force. And it could also be why the Jedi is encouraged not to have strong emotional attachments to other people.

All of Sidious' pawns represent different aspects of Vader.
    A. Darth Maul was an angry, young apprentice
    B. Dooku was a wise, older duelist
    C. Grievous was a bitter, half-machine, war veteran
C is why Grievous coughs. He used to be just a great warrior until most of his body was damaged and replaced with machinery (like Vader). That's why he looks like a robot.
The reason he coughs is because he tried to fight a black Jedi with a purple lightsaber and got his whole chest force choked by a true pimp. His coughing is supposed to foreshadow Vader's breathing problems.

Grevious coughs because when he went down to the planet to capture Palpatine, Mace Windu tried to stop him and used the force to crush his chest a bit. So his organic lungs were damaged. This is only talked about in the book just before the events of this movie unfortunately. Grevious is a member of the species called Kaleesh but was severely hurt and made into what he was by the Genosians.
