    Nice! Really enjoyed the video. I have been looking out for a Toyota Townace camper at auction for the past 6 months, but then a nice Isuzu Elf camper popped up. I went for it and won! Should be leaving port next week. I can not wait for it to arrive. But I'll aways want one of these Townace campers. Yours is one of the best I've seen

      Still working on the history of these things, but it would seem A'm Craft either had a million factory options, or each one was built custom...because everyone I've seen is different!

    Newbie quesion: are you able to stand up in it without the top up?
    Your table is super! Mine doesn't have the cup holders... did you make that or did it come that way?
    PLUS: want a bike rack etc - perhaps your friend would consider making one for me - need ot check shipping costss though....
    Again, love what you've done!

    Hello, Brett! I just came across this video because I just purchased an A'm Craft camper that is on a Mitsubishi Delica l300 chassis. I am also in the Boulder area! The floor plan is slightly different from what you have, but like yours, it is a well thought out quality set up. My only concern is, I can't find a lot of information on these campers like owner's manuals or where to get repair parts. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much in advance! Maybe I will see you out there! Travel safe!

    • @brettwilhelm1183
      @brettwilhelm1183  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A’m Craft unfortunately went out of business in perhaps early 2000s from the best of my knowledge, but fortunately many of the actual camper parts are still supported by the individual manufacturers. For the Mitsubishi platform itself, your best bet is MegaZip for parts diagrams, then searching west coast importers, eBay, etc

    Brett, I live in Evergreen and have been debating one of these Toyota vans for quite some time. The only thing holding me back is accessing parts or finding a mechanic to work on it when there is something over-my-head that needs attention. Do you have a local Colorado mechanic that is willing to work on these diesel Toyotas? Thanks for posting, great video!

    • @brettwilhelm1183
      @brettwilhelm1183  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've got a few people in Boulder that I use, but I've heard of a couple of good places in Denver that focus on JDMs...the reality is this 25+ year old diesels are pretty simple, so anyone experienced in diesel should be fine with it. I did get the english language manual for my Toyota 2C engine, and that's pretty clutch.

    Sorry, one more question: do you run the fridge while driving? If so, do you just run it via battery power, or do you use the propane option while driving?

    • @brettwilhelm1183
      @brettwilhelm1183  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I always switch back to 12v when I drive, which I believe is how these are designed. I’ve cut a hole in my sidewall to add a vent for better functionality, so highway winds might be enough to extinguish my flame, but more importantly I don’t want to be driving around with my propane tank open and gas lines charged

    Do you have to run a block heater when camping in sub freezing temps? Any issues getting the engine to start when it's cold?

    • @brettwilhelm1183
      @brettwilhelm1183  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, sorry for delay, been traveling. I use the "Winter" diesel additive, but never a block heater and have not had a problem in temperatures down to about -15F. Any time it's particularly cold, say below 20F, I usually cycle the glow plugs 2-3 times before I start it, but it usually fires right up! On the worst days, when really cold, it might take a couple of cranks to get going, but it always starts and runs well!

      i believe CA is the one state where these older diesels are fairly problematic to certify...there are some weird workarounds, but in general I think owners end up registering them in other states to avoid....

      @@brettwilhelm1183 have you figured out what the knob just to the left of the steering wheel does? Also have you found any good sources for random interior parts? I have some knobs missing and the light in the pop top is not there, as well as we need a lot of other random engine parts that I am having trouble sourcing online. I was going to give vansnorthwest a call later this week but figure I would ask here first as your video kind of made us want one to begin with haha.

      Also by a chnace have you had any issues with you coolant temp guage or speedo? The coolant temp on mine stays flat and does nothing, and the speedo kinda works until 40kmh then stops lol. Figuired the cookant temp might be the sender or sn issue behind the guage but my in cab also doesnt work so ive got some digging to do to figure this thing out. Have you found any good repair manuals? I found some 2c engine stuff but nothing that specifies repair instrucations if i were to need to replace the heater core or heater control valve

    • @brettwilhelm1183
      @brettwilhelm1183  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The knob to the left of the steering wheel is probably your idle up, for temporarily increasing your idle, especially during things like cold weather warm up

    • @brettwilhelm1183
      @brettwilhelm1183  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The temperature sender is a US part number, you can pull the sender wire off the back of the sender and ground it against the the engine, temp gauge should spike to overheat. If the temp gauge doesn’t move it’s either a bad gauge or a broken wire
