      the damage was already done in the first stint since the mediums are cooked fast , thats probably 30 seconds that Checo lost on strategy.
      Hannah out did her self in this race hard tyres were the fastest tyre for the first stint.
      Update: Sorry to all I mixed the races with Jeddah here the problem was that the medium degraded faster than the hard that allowed max to get an insane first without that he would have exit the race in traffic.

    • @mrdraw2087
      @mrdraw2087 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +55

      Yes, that would be interesting. Pérez was gaining a bit on Verstappen right after his stop, but once Verstappen started pushing, he was slightly quicker. Pérez couldn't push as hard as his tires had to last the remainder of the race, so there was quite a bit of tire management going on, which makes a direct comparison difficult. Pérez probably lost the race on his stint on the medium tires at the beginning of the race. These tires faded as soon as he increased his pace, so he couldn't build a gap.

    To everyone saying that max had plot armor or that he only won because other drivers let him pass without a fight:
    Max was out of position, other drivers were in position. This means that other drivers were fighting who they were supposed to be fighting based on their performance and abilities, while max was not. If they had put in effort to defend against max, it is a lose-lose situation because they would just be delaying max who would likely have overtaken them sooner or later anyway, and they would have destroyed their own race by ruining their tyres and overall strategy by fighting. It is in everyone's interest to just let him pass asap and go back to their own battles.
    Also, the reason why most drivers let him pass without a fight is precisely because he is so good that it is not worth fighting. It is not the other way around.

      It's because the car was so good, not because Max was so good. The early version of the 2023 RB was a monster, especially with DRS opened. Get it over your head that anyone (literally anyone) could have had a P2 in that car that race, starting anywhere on the grid.
      What he did next on those hards was a masterstroke, but anything prior to that is just filler.

    2:40 "None of his victims", nicely phrased.
    People who say "it's only the car" as a reason to Max's domination is simply blind, doesn't respect Perez as a pretty good driver and doesn't respect Max as a generational driver.
    You gotta remember that Perez is a racewinner in a midfield car. I know he had a very rough last half of 2023, wich i reason as he got his spirit completely destroyed. I even remember hearing Perez had to go to councling so he could deal better with having Max as his teammate.
    And i see big similarities between Max and Michael Schumacher. They will both put their car in a situation where the driver they race with has to choose between either crashing or yielding (Senna was like this to), they both race hard, very hard, they are both fierce competitors and they both have unparalleled talent.

      "Perez is a racewinner in a midfield car" - do you even remember how the race went? or the season in general?
      First the season - Racing point basically copied the monster 2019 Mercedes and with their engine aswell they had one of the best car on the grid which also showed when both racing points were getting points and finishing top 5 during the season (even Stroll got on podium twice and we all know how bad the guy is).
      Now the race - first he gets fucked by Leclerc and ends up last but the same crash took Leclerc and Verstappen out - both of them better drivers than him. Then he battles thru the field which I admit was well done but ok. Then towards the end he sits at 3rd place while both Mercedes are miles ahead - then someone in Williams crash and Mercedes double-stack under safety car, absolutely fucks up the pit stops (slow and put wrong tires) so Russel has to pit stop AGAIN and Bottas is left on 3 years old hards. After Russell having to pit twice still battles thru the field and is about to clear Perez aswell but gets puncture and have to pit again.
      This win is overrated as fuck. If anything this race should be remembered for Russels heartbreak. The lad got one chance in top car, absolutely smashes and it took so much to deny him the win. He got as much bad luck in one race others get in full season.

    Again with this stale narrative. Max didn't "break Perez's spirit". A man with a broken spirit does not fight back every race even with the amount of struggles he was having. Perez lost the grasp of the car due to upgrades moving away from him, and of course the utter dominance and skill of Max was a heavy load to withstand, but Perez just kept at it. He failed, but he tried, and that's the key. A broken spirit just ceases to try, like Albon, who cried, and Gasly, who raged, and Ricciardo, who ran away.
    Seriously, Perez should be given much more respect. He's the only driver who has managed to beat Max on pure pace since Leclerc in Austria 2022.

      Some of those drivers would've put up a defence against Perez, as they usually do but they don't even try it with Verstappen. The difference is that despite having the same car, some of them believe that they can keep Perez behind while they know fighting Verstappen would only lose them time. It's not "only" about the car, even if it plays a large role, but also who is driving it that influences the others to not put up a defence.

    Two: Fuck that rule for "yeah he is in a faster car don't fight for position" Just fight, if he is in a faster car shouldn't be a problem to overtake you fighting... F1 lately is just a match of who saves better the tires... If they do the same to MotoGP it will be the end of proper racing...

    I feel like F1 is more of about racing against tyre degradation than it is racing another racers. However the performance disparity between cars makes that, despite in theory every driver is racing eachother, in practice they're only racing against a few. In this race this is so exacerbated that it turns out bizarre, VER was only racing PER. He also had the better tyre strategy. A limited tyre duratibility means that you can extract more or less performance out of the car depending on the tyre strategy you use, but this is also a function of the car's performance. The latter would mean that while reducing tyre durability would increase the amount of possible strategies, it would also reduce their impact, therefore no variation in durability would get rid of all the _un-racing_ in its entirety because the problem is the disparity in cars performances. The main factor for victory in F1 is which car you are driving, being a freak that lives only to race is actually secondary. F1 philosophy negates racing.

    • @hamingnu6610
      @hamingnu6610 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a correct assumption. If you want to defend your position, you have to waste both time (you both slow down to an extent because you're not getting the optimal racing lines + you have to put in mental effort to pay attention to the driver you're defending against) and tires (if you're paying even 20% more attention to an attacking driver, that's 20% less attention put towards making the right controls to reduce tire wear).
      This behavior where a driver is given no resistance really only happens to Max. Probably Lewis pre-2020, etc... Most drivers already know that the driver and the car are far too strong and that they'll overtake you anyways. You'd have to put an extreme effort to defend against them, which would be a waste if there's only a 1% chance you can defend against them and 99% chance they'll overtake you at some point. You just do not want to waste any EXTRA time or effort defending a car that's faster than you manned by a driver that's more attune with their car than you, because that effort could instead be used against defending from opponents you know you'll have a better chance defending against.
      E.g. It would be stupid for Kevin Magnussen in a HAAS to try and hold up Max Verstappen in an RB19. Kevin knows Max will overtake anyways on a straight at the very least, plus Kevin still needs to defend against every other backmarker. If Kevin tries to spend mental and physical effort defending against Max, he has less effort he can put out to defend against everybody else. It just makes sense to waste less time, let the strong guy with his strong car through, and defend against everybody else with as much effort as you can.
