It wouldn’t be the Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve without the Top 2000! These guys & girls over at NPO Radio 2 are absolutely amazing.
This one is still giving me the chills, the best mash-up he ever made, extra impressive in the empty Ziggo Dome.
He usually shows his mash-up at the start of the yearly Top 2000 in December, in the "Top 2000 café", full of people. But "thanks to" Covid that wasn't possible in 2020 and 2021, that's why it happened differently, without audience.
Bart Arens is a dj with a radio show on radio 2 on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. At the end of the previous show he always plays a piano version of the song that will be the first one he will play and anyone can guess what that song will be. Then they can sing their own short version of that song. It is very funny. The dutch song being played after the Queen song is called Iedereen is van de wereld by a band called The Scene. Unfortunately the singer called The Lau died of cancer in 2015. The title is roughly translated as Everyone belongs to the world, and the world belongs to everyone. I think it is one of the most beautiful lines.

The band “the streamers” was formed especially for shows in covid times. The band included some of the country’s biggest popstars ! And they performed several shows that streamed live

Listened to the top 2000 for decades. Had no idea of this special the past years. Don't care much for pop music at all, but these mashups are top notch!
He does the mash-up every year (since 2016 or so) at the beginning of Top 2000, but usually in the Top 2000 café. Only in 2020 and 2021 for obvious reasons visitors in the café weren't allowed, so in 2020 he chose the empty Ziggo Dome and in 2021 the roof of the "Beeld en Geluid" building of the Media Park.
Most years the number 1 of the Top 2000 are Queen with Bohemian Rhapsody or The Eagles with Hotel California.
This time is was Danny Vera with Rollercoaster, in this video sung by him together with, I hope you recognized, Ilse de Lange - Bart from Racoon - miss Montreal - Guus Meeuwis - Edsilia Rombley - Stef Bos and Snelle. Finally once a song from a Dutch singer on number 1. Yeah!! About time. 🥳😄😄

It's great! And before it begins there is a top 2000 quiz for a few weeks on television with "famous" Dutch singers, DJ's etc. And they give special short stories behind songs.
Perhaps there is a way you can join it this year on your channel with some of your subscribers. If you want. And dare...? 😁
Actually the Top 2000 started out on radio 2 (basically the 2nd national radio channel, from before there were even commercial channels [I mean the channel not the Top 2000]) as a gig for the 2K event. It was like what the x do we need to do to celebrate the new millenium. And the damn gig still exists :D
It reminded me of a Herman van Veen song called Hilversum 3 (or III). Actually all national broadcasting, both radio and tv started out in a city called Hilversum, where they still have most of non-commercial broadcasters.
