The song at 11:40 is called 'De Soldaat' (The Soldier in English) and is actually a song about a soldier (obviously) who gets KIA. The chorus of the song is him singing to his girl (and vice versa). I'ts quite a sensitive though beautiful song.

Your initial comment about it being some kind of beer concert is right.. Vrienden van Amstel originated in Amsterdam in a bar owned by beer brewer Amstel, and once a month they hosted these free style concerts where big names in the entertainment industry got on stage together and jammed to each others songs.. some really great collaborations came from these nights !
This was soon noticed by a tv station who then did tv shows about it.. still from that same bar in Amsterdam.
Before long the bar became too small and they went out and looked for a much larger venue....the Rotterdam Ahoy and turned it into an annual concert, where they invited all kinds of Dutch artists, and made these unexpected pairings... that is what these concerts are all about.. the unexpected collaborations between different types of bands or artists ! All FRIENDS of AMSTEL in the biggest PUB of the country ;-)

The annual concerts were always sold out in a matter of days.. and they kept adding more and more shows to it every year. Now they go upto 14 sold out shows each year.
And beer brewer Amstel is still the sponsor of it all and Dutch artists and bands are almost fighting to get invited to be in the line up !
This song "Bestel maar" by Rowwen Heze is the ultimate bar song.. it literally means order another round !

Woah cool to see! Rowwen heze is from our litte town in the netherlands. Our town is called America. Every year there is a big concert where everybody drinks a lot of beer and rip each other shirts of. Its one of the best party of the year here. The athmosphere is crazy

I actually looked up the lyrics- and I can decifer them. But MAN I didn't know that dialects could get this hardcore in our little country. And trust me I'm from the east and we have some pretty extreme accent / dialect down there.

That first song is even for the Dutch difficult to understand its limburgs . And GUUS is from brabant with the soft G . And ANDRE is from AMSTERDAM with the hard G .the same as in America each other part of the Netherlands has his own dialect ,.also NICK AND SIMON are from VOLENDAM .❤

Visiting this concert is on my bucket-list, however… it’s mostly already sold out during the pre-order. I hope I can visit is very soon because, as they call themselves, they are the biggest bar of the Netherlands with this concert.

Wanneer heeft dit concert eigenlijk plaats gevonden? Aan het eind wordt verwezen naar de volgende editie van Vrienden van Amstel in 2021, maar de editie van het jaar daarvoor in 2020 was toch zonder publiek vanwege die ellendige Corona crisis?
