$63 for Twin Turbo 1500 I drove a brand new one just for fun at dealership what crap it's quicker low speeds but when I floored it at 50 the speedo climbed much slower then my HEMI. They don't get paid more for making more expensive trucks, they get paid more by the shareholders for meeting whatever contract stipulations are there or otherwise performing well. When the government makes vehicles more expensive to make because of supply chain mismanagement, irresponsible spending, inflation etc. the CEOs make more money to deal with it. They'll get some kind of raise whether the stuff gets more expensive or not if they get the company does well enough. They have at least some incentive to control their pricing...but the government? They do nothing but create conditions that make stuff more expensive, so vote differently and we could at least see that part of this cost equation change.
If you go to the dealer you might be able to get 10k off. Stellantis is basically doing the old trick of advertising a higher price then say your getting a 10k discount instead of just advertising the lower price in the first place.
@UnyonRing rams have always had a major price differnce between invoice and msrp. When I was working for a fleet company ram was giving 15k off incentives on top of us getting invoice pricing. People were still buying ford's over rams 10 to 1.
Exactly. I really don't like that they dropped the Hemi. It's served me well in 2 trucks for the last 12 years. Only issue has been manifold bolts. Can't wait to see what issues these over engineered V6s will have

Yep - i like Ram as well, but cost is prohibitive... I have a 2019 Rebel Sport with 5.7, 3.92's, 8.4 radio, fully loaded (leather, full roof window etc.), but it gets 19mpg highway only. Frankly it looks like that Laramie inside, but i couldn't afford the Laramie now... I'll be keeping my 2019 for a long time, even though dealer wants me to trade up (but i question - WHY?) - to get same thing it'd cost me big time...

Yes, it’s called a 3/4 ton…. The 1/2 ton trucks of yesterday were only regular cabs and extended cabs and were available with 8 foot beds. The only crew cabs at the time were on 3/4 and 1 tons. A factory crew cab 1/2 ton with an 8 foot does not exist and has never existed. If you want an 8 foot bed 1/2 ton, get a regular or extended cab.
He said long bed but it is a full size shortbed instead of the stubby shorts we came to know with crew cab 1/2 tons that makes them fit way more garages.
Recently drove from Wisconsin to Ohio (8 hours a direction) and over the trip averaged 21.88. 2020 Ram 1500 Crew, 3.21 axl, short box 4x4 V8 E-torque. Was carrying 500 lbs of equipment and typically drove speed limit +5 mph and spent 20 mins idling around Chicago in traffic 1 direction.

I paid $56,900 when I ordered my 22 ram 1500 Laramie. The window sticker was $64k. This is crazy that you'd pay more for this than my Laramie. No air suspension, no Laramie level a, no bed group and no navigation....crazy.
I get 20+ mpg in my 3.5 ecoboost and it has a 36 gallon tank. So I can go around 700 miles before filling up. That’s fully loaded, bed full of stuff and 4 adults.
I regularly get about 800mi with mine but do not have the heavy load. Just did a 700mi trip on the weekend and the combined average was 24.9mpg (on gauge) running on the ECO setting and 120mi until empty when i got home. Avg speed on the highway was 70 mph. Did not buy a pick up for the fuel economy but I cannot be happier.
Stellantis and it’s MSRP ideas. A GMC 2500 crew cab standard bed Pro work trim with a 6.6 L V8 gas engine is $54k MSRP. Practically same as this 1500 RAM work truck. Ok.

I pulled a 5,000 LB trailer from N.C. to Alaska through Canada on the ALCAN with my 2023 Wagoneer with the I6 SO Hurricane and it did great. No issues what so ever. The I6 is a great engine from what I can tell, prior to pulling the trailer, I Shipped it from Hawaii to California, then drove it to N.C. to pick up the trailer. I want them to put the I6 SO Hurricane in the gladiator.
Got 2018 Ram 1500 equipped very similar, except ECODiesel. Best travel vehicle ever. I drive regularily a 900 mile trip (one way) and only stop twice. Once for fuel and once to walk. Cruise set at 70-71 and ALWAYS get 31-32 mpg (checked by the pump). It's crazy how nice the ride is on the road for 13+ hours.
23 Nissan Titan Pro-4x 5.6 V8!! Mine was getting 23 on the hwy!! Now with a few mods I'm getting 28-30 mpg on the hwy!! At least my truck will outlast any truck!!

I just wouldn't look forward to finding parts for it in a few years... Nissan isn't the best at supporting discontinued products... owners of the diesel titan xd can tell you all about that... 20k for a motor and 12-15k for a transmission and prices are only going up.
That price is absurd. I just paid $54,000 ($56,000 MSRP) for my 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD Z71 with the 6.6 gas. And it has rear seat chargers and 110V plug in the front and in the bed. And it has good looking 20” alloys with AT tires, not fugly steel wheels with highway tires. Twice the truck for less. What a joke. No wonder Stellantis is struggling.
Say this again, but went with my brother to buy a brand new 2005 full size/4x4/extended cab/5.3v8 chevy pickup and it was $25,000 out the door. Sure no screens and didn't have 400hp but still on road driving, just lots of rust.
The highway fuel economy is not far off from what my 2014 1500 5.7 gets. I measured around 21 MPG last time I took a trip out of town going from Columbus, GA to Atlanta, GA and back. Mostly highway driving between I-185 and I-85 and a bit of city driving mixed in. I got roughly the same going to Macon and back on US-80. I honestly don't really see this as a win with these new engines, especially considering that even though the I6 is more powerful once you start to actually use that power the fuel economy is going to drop like a stone when the boost kicks in. I really want to see how the fuel consumption compares to the Hemi in a 2024 while towing on this same trip. If the results end up being the same or the I6 does worse, then that will pretty much kill any justification in my eyes for going with a new 1500 over an older one at the dealerships besides the overall pricing.
It’s all about the emissions. It’s just another iteration of the late 70’s, early 80’s except you get to keep the power but drop the cylinders. Back then tech only allowed them to drop the power to comply.
It's a about emissions. Dodge has paid millions in fines from the EPA for not meeting emissions standards. Why do you think all the manufacturers are going away from V8s? Smaller engines with turbos have the same or more power, less emissions.
@@Dusdaddy I got 24 mpg from NY to TX in my '17 ram with a Hemi running 5 over a couple years ago. I get between 21 and 22 just going back and forth on my 60 mile loop to work.
Kind of looks like the epa is slowly getting their way by driving up the costs of large vehicles with all of the new emissions requirements. Make gas vehicles just as or more expensive than EV vehicles so people will buy EVs. Do you really think that corporations or the government cares about the environment? I lived in the Kalamazoo area for years, and that Marathon station you were at in the beginning of the video was one of my go to stops in the mornings. I could tell by the shadows that you missed rush hour. Your lucky, because that section of road between there and the highway is the worst during rush hour.
Just gonna keep the 2017 Ram 1500 Lonestar I bought at the end of 2023 for 18k until it literally breaks in half, though I'm certainly hopeful that the new motor in these trucks works out well for those buying them.
Still driving my 2013 Tradesman. 352,000 miles on 3.6 Pentastar. Towing a 5,500 lb camper in the WV mountains and 3.55 is dropping to 4th on my 8 speed. Does fine as long as you don't have 3 mi upgrades.
I have a 2020 Laramie with the 3.92 rear axles and the hemi, and my milage isn't that much lower than this - I did New England to North Carolina and averaged 22mpg. I agree that the lane keep assist is close to useless (my sensors had to be replaced once already), but the adaptive cruise is essential for road trips, and it's a feature I loved so much, it's on my list as a must have feature on any future vehicle.
17:18, in general, it is not a good idea to drive the fuel tank dry - the fuel actually is the coolant for all components of the - here high pressure - fuel system. The less fuel, the hotter everything gets. Think of filling up at 20% like being as important as regular oil changes.
And I'm glad to see that Mopar fuel gauges are as non-linear as always. :D My jeep does the same thing: half tank displayed is almost 3/4 the range of the vehicle.
My 2021 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab with Hemi and 3.92 axle out the door was $47k new. We went on a trip from southern California to Lake Tahoe via the desert with the ac on and going and maintaining 75-80mph at times. No towing. Round trip from my front door and back was 26.0 mpg. That includes all driving around up and around there down to Carson and some other areas. I can get 15-16 city.
I have had a ‘21 Ram Laramie for 2 years. I am quite happy with it but I have 3 things that would make it better: 1.) a larger fuel tank, I have the standard 21 gallonish tank; 2.) better rear seat ventilation with controls; 3.) heavier springs on the tonneau cover latches to reduce lifting at highway speeds.
Did you option the ventilated rear seats? If not, you might be able to add them in to get cooler seats. If you did, look up adding an inline variable speed booster to increase and control the speed of the built-in fan. For the tonneau, I find the bakflip aluminum covers are very solid and will not move at any speed.
The lane keep check the sensitivity you can adjust in the settings. Also love that Jeep/Ram has both cruise options because sometimes I don’t want to be slowed down. My Nissan only has adaptive and can be too sensitive at times in even in light traffic so hardly use it

Crazy to hear the lane keep assist in that Ram won't correct you. It works as it should in my Durango and corrects me if I'm going over the lines without my signal on.
I bought my ranger in 2020 with a bunch of options, and it stickers for $38k. I paid $36k. I thought that was a lot, but now the same truck would be well into the 40s.
Not a Ram fan BUT you had me liking it till it came with manual folding mirrors. I don’t need the glitz and glamour. That tradesman is perfect except the mirror folding
So I noticed on your window sticker your Ram has LED head lamps, that's why they project so well. I'm running a 2023 2500 6.4 with LED's and just love them.
You can blame idiots who check the dipstick with the engine running, then overfill the engine oil causing damage and bring it in for warrantee service to fix it. I suspect that all manufacturers will get rid of it over the next 10 years to avoid dealing with these warrantee claims.
I averaged 21.7 MPG in my 2017 Ram 1500 5.7 Sport, crew cab, short bed with 3.92's and a lot more options doing a 1400 mile round trip. I don't think these new trucks are designed for efficiency as much as they are for towing/hauling experience. That extra torque coming on earlier will definitely help. I also made the same trip in my 2020 2500 6.4 Longhorn and got 19.4 MPG.
We only have 95 octane and 100 octane here in Denmark. It's extremely expensive. Our 95 octane costs the equivalent of 2.10 USD per liter, and 100 octane is 2.40 USD per liter.
Your fuel is not higher octane, North America just uses a different octane rating standard (RON vs AKI) than what you're referring to: your 95 octane is called 91 in the US, 98 is 93 and 100 is 94

It boggles my mind that people are continuously stunned by the fact that a 400 hp turbo 6 cylinder engine doesn't get better mileage than a 400hp V8. It takes fuel to make hp. Yes technology can help get better mileage to a certain degree but one 400hp engine is never going to have significantly better mpg than another 400hp engine in the same vehicle under the same driving conditions. The physics just make no sense. The entire purpose of a turbo is to force air into the engine and gasoline engines require a pretty narrow range of air/oxygen ratio to run so if you put more air in you also have to put more fuel in. If you don't the engine will either destroy itself or it just won't run. Reality is if you are utilizing the power available from a turbo engine you won't likely get any better mpg than an equivalent hp naturally aspirated engine and often it will be worse mpg. I've had multiple trucks with 3.5 ecoboost engines, Hemi's, coyote's and 5.3L and 6.2L LS's and recently had a 2025 Hurricane Ram 1500 loaned to me for a for a week by a friend of mine who is the GM of my local Dodge dealer. Newsflash they all get roughly the same mileage and if you don't baby the turbo's they actually get worse mileage than the V8's. IMO if you don't tow at high altitude and/or you keep your trucks beyond the warranty period buy a V8. If you trade your trucks before the warranty expires and don't mind the anemic sound of the turbo motors buy whatever you like because they all work great and they all use around the same amount of fuel.

I have had 3.92 axles in my last 3 trucks. With overdrive transmissions it doesn't affect the fuel economy. I am a retired Chrysler product tech. with 45 years in the business. I had customers that had 3.23 axles in their trucks that got worse mileage.

Just finished Houston to D.C . And back in my 2025 Ram Rebel. No issues similar results and very comfortable while towing a loaded UHaul
If you can find a Half Ton Crew Cab with an 8-foot bed you better buy it fast. The reality 6.5 foot is as good as it gets.

I’ve had a 1500 limited and now a 2500 Cummins limited and the best trucks I ever had. The 1500 rode like a. Caddy and handled like a sports car.

It’s the ‘long’ bed for a crew cab, which otherwise comes with a bed only large enough for moving houseplants and isn’t much of a truck at all.

I get 20+ mpg in my 3.5 ecoboost and it has a 36 gallon tank. So I can go around 700 miles before filling up. That’s fully loaded, bed full of stuff and 4 adults.
I regularly get about 800mi with mine but do not have the heavy load. Just did a 700mi trip on the weekend and the combined average was 24.9mpg (on gauge) running on the ECO setting and 120mi until empty when i got home. Avg speed on the highway was 70 mph. Did not buy a pick up for the fuel economy but I cannot be happier.

I pulled a 5,000 LB trailer from N.C. to Alaska through Canada on the ALCAN with my 2023 Wagoneer with the I6 SO Hurricane and it did great. No issues what so ever. The I6 is a great engine from what I can tell, prior to pulling the trailer, I Shipped it from Hawaii to California, then drove it to N.C. to pick up the trailer. I want them to put the I6 SO Hurricane in the gladiator.
Reliability and maintenance should be factors as well.
Got 2018 Ram 1500 equipped very similar, except ECODiesel. Best travel vehicle ever. I drive regularily a 900 mile trip (one way) and only stop twice. Once for fuel and once to walk. Cruise set at 70-71 and ALWAYS get 31-32 mpg (checked by the pump). It's crazy how nice the ride is on the road for 13+ hours.
Make sure to check the oil.

23 Nissan Titan Pro-4x 5.6 V8!! Mine was getting 23 on the hwy!! Now with a few mods I'm getting 28-30 mpg on the hwy!! At least my truck will outlast any truck!!
@@stevenpeterson7234 The titan is a good truck. Unfortunately, it is dead now for any new models. I had a 17 5.6 that pulled 25 MPG on the highway. I just wouldn't look forward to finding parts for it in a few years... Nissan isn't the best at supporting discontinued products... owners of the diesel titan xd can tell you all about that... 20k for a motor and 12-15k for a transmission and prices are only going up.
I used to own a Ram Ecodiesel. Normal highway mileage with a moderately loaded truck was 25mpg. It was great for long haul road trips.

That price is absurd. I just paid $54,000 ($56,000 MSRP) for my 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD Z71 with the 6.6 gas. And it has rear seat chargers and 110V plug in the front and in the bed. And it has good looking 20” alloys with AT tires, not fugly steel wheels with highway tires. Twice the truck for less. What a joke. No wonder Stellantis is struggling.
Say this again, but went with my brother to buy a brand new 2005 full size/4x4/extended cab/5.3v8 chevy pickup and it was $25,000 out the door. Sure no screens and didn't have 400hp but still on road driving, just lots of rust.
3.21’s are good for at least 2-3 mpg with the Hemi so would be nice to see results with the Hurricane
That depends on speed; certainly when doing 80mph, but you won’t see that much of a difference between 65-70mph.
I have a 2019 ram 5.7 quad cab with 3:21 gears and a 33 gallon tank I get just about 700 mi doing 65 mphs

The highway fuel economy is not far off from what my 2014 1500 5.7 gets. I measured around 21 MPG last time I took a trip out of town going from Columbus, GA to Atlanta, GA and back. Mostly highway driving between I-185 and I-85 and a bit of city driving mixed in. I got roughly the same going to Macon and back on US-80. I honestly don't really see this as a win with these new engines, especially considering that even though the I6 is more powerful once you start to actually use that power the fuel economy is going to drop like a stone when the boost kicks in. I really want to see how the fuel consumption compares to the Hemi in a 2024 while towing on this same trip. If the results end up being the same or the I6 does worse, then that will pretty much kill any justification in my eyes for going with a new 1500 over an older one at the dealerships besides the overall pricing.
It’s all about the emissions. It’s just another iteration of the late 70’s, early 80’s except you get to keep the power but drop the cylinders. Back then tech only allowed them to drop the power to comply.
It's a about emissions. Dodge has paid millions in fines from the EPA for not meeting emissions standards. Why do you think all the manufacturers are going away from V8s? Smaller engines with turbos have the same or more power, less emissions.

@@Dusdaddy I got 24 mpg from NY to TX in my '17 ram with a Hemi running 5 over a couple years ago. I get between 21 and 22 just going back and forth on my 60 mile loop to work.
Kind of looks like the epa is slowly getting their way by driving up the costs of large vehicles with all of the new emissions requirements. Make gas vehicles just as or more expensive than EV vehicles so people will buy EVs. Do you really think that corporations or the government cares about the environment? It's all about the money that can be made to help stimulate the economy by creating new markets so share holders can make more free money. What do you guys think?

I lived in the Kalamazoo area for years, and that Marathon station you were at in the beginning of the video was one of my go to stops in the mornings. I could tell by the shadows that you missed rush hour. Your lucky, because that section of road between there and the highway is the worst during rush hour.

Just gonna keep the 2017 Ram 1500 Lonestar I bought at the end of 2023 for 18k until it literally breaks in half, though I'm certainly hopeful that the new motor in these trucks works out well for those buying them.
Still driving my 2013 Tradesman. 352,000 miles on 3.6 Pentastar. Towing a 5,500 lb camper in the WV mountains and 3.55 is dropping to 4th on my 8 speed. Does fine as long as you don't have 3 mi upgrades.
I'm pleasantly surprised even the tradesman has adaptive cruise control. I can't go back to basic cruise control.
I have a 2020 Laramie with the 3.92 rear axles and the hemi, and my milage isn't that much lower than this - I did New England to North Carolina and averaged 22mpg. I agree that the lane keep assist is close to useless (my sensors had to be replaced once already), but the adaptive cruise is essential for road trips, and it's a feature I loved so much, it's on my list as a must have feature on any future vehicle.
You can adjust the strength of the lane assist! In the settings and under the safety/driving assistance tab

17:18, in general, it is not a good idea to drive the fuel tank dry - the fuel actually is the coolant for all components of the - here high pressure - fuel system. The less fuel, the hotter everything gets. Think of filling up at 20% like being as important as regular oil changes.
Gas is 50 cents per gallon cheaper in Missouri, that’s crazy.
Why do you always test vehicles that aren't optioned the way you want? Why didn't you get the efficiency gears? Same thing in your comparison tests.

My jeep does the same thing: half tank displayed is almost 3/4 the range of the vehicle.
You can usually get around 10 to 15K off with RAM dealers. So in reality, not too bad for the pricing of this work truck.
I remember when tradesman trucks were knocking hard on the door to break under $20k.

My 2021 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab with Hemi and 3.92 axle out the door was $47k new.
We went on a trip from southern California to Lake Tahoe via the desert with the ac on and going and maintaining 75-80mph at times. No towing. Round trip from my front door and back was 26.0 mpg. That includes all driving around up and around there down to Carson and some other areas. I can get 15-16 city.
I have had a ‘21 Ram Laramie for 2 years. I am quite happy with it but I have 3 things that would make it better: 1.) a larger fuel tank, I have the standard 21 gallonish tank; 2.) better rear seat ventilation with controls; 3.) heavier springs on the tonneau cover latches to reduce lifting at highway speeds.
Did you option the ventilated rear seats? If not, you might be able to add them in to get cooler seats. If you did, look up adding an inline variable speed booster to increase and control the speed of the built-in fan.
For the tonneau, I find the bakflip aluminum covers are very solid and will not move at any speed.

The lane keep check the sensitivity you can adjust in the settings. Also love that Jeep/Ram has both cruise options because sometimes I don’t want to be slowed down. My Nissan only has adaptive and can be too sensitive at times in even in light traffic so hardly use it

Considering that I bought a fully loaded 2019 Laramie w/5.7 for $43k cash in august 2018, this is absolutely insane. So happy I bought my RAM when I did. Just hit my 6-year anniversary with it yesterday.

Our 2020 Tundra TRD off road gets 19 mpg. It gets better mileage than our 2024 4runner TRD Pro.

Crazy to hear the lane keep assist in that Ram won't correct you. It works as it should in my Durango and corrects me if I'm going over the lines without my signal on.
I bought my ranger in 2020 with a bunch of options, and it stickers for $38k. I paid $36k. I thought that was a lot, but now the same truck would be well into the 40s.

So I noticed on your window sticker your Ram has LED head lamps, that's why they project so well. I'm running a 2023 2500 6.4 with LED's and just love them.

You can blame idiots who check the dipstick with the engine running, then overfill the engine oil causing damage and bring it in for warrantee service to fix it.
I suspect that all manufacturers will get rid of it over the next 10 years to avoid dealing with these warrantee claims.

I averaged 21.7 MPG in my 2017 Ram 1500 5.7 Sport, crew cab, short bed with 3.92's and a lot more options doing a 1400 mile round trip. I don't think these new trucks are designed for efficiency as much as they are for towing/hauling experience. That extra torque coming on earlier will definitely help. I also made the same trip in my 2020 2500 6.4 Longhorn and got 19.4 MPG.

I’ll keep my 2014 Ram Outdoorsman CC, 6’4 bed, 5.7 Hemi Only has 73,000 miles on it and pulls nicely with the 3.92 rear end. Paid $25,500 2 years ago.
We only have 95 octane and 100 octane here in Denmark. It's extremely expensive. Our 95 octane costs the equivalent of 2.10 USD per liter, and 100 octane is 2.40 USD per liter.
That corresponds to approximately 7.90 USD per gallon for 95 octane and 9.60 USD per gallon for 100 octane.
Your fuel is not higher octane, North America just uses a different octane rating standard (RON vs AKI) than what you're referring to: your 95 octane is called 91 in the US, 98 is 93 and 100 is 94

@@drasoioit is slightly higher as no US pump sells higher than 93 outside of racing fuel and typically has 85 to 89 as standard while Europe standard is 91 equivalent and goes up to 94 equivalent, but not dramatically higher. I think it may be related to ethanol use in the US fuel

It boggles my mind that people are continuously stunned by the fact that a 400 hp turbo 6 cylinder engine doesn't get better mileage than a 400hp V8. It takes fuel to make hp. Yes technology can help get better mileage to a certain degree but one 400hp engine is never going to have significantly better mpg than another 400hp engine in the same vehicle under the same driving conditions. The physics just make no sense. The entire purpose of a turbo is to force air into the engine and gasoline engines require a pretty narrow range of air/oxygen ratio to run so if you put more air in you also have to put more fuel in. If you don't the engine will either destroy itself or it just won't run. Reality is if you are utilizing the power available from a turbo engine you won't likely get any better mpg than an equivalent hp naturally aspirated engine and often it will be worse mpg. I've had multiple trucks with 3.5 ecoboost engines, Hemi's, coyote's and 5.3L and 6.2L LS's and recently had a 2025 Hurricane Ram 1500 loaned to me for a for a week by a friend of mine who is the GM of my local Dodge dealer. Newsflash they all get roughly the same mileage and if you don't baby the turbo's they actually get worse mileage than the V8's. IMO if you don't tow at high altitude and/or you keep your trucks beyond the warranty period buy a V8. If you trade your trucks before the warranty expires and don't mind the anemic sound of the turbo motors buy whatever you like because they all work great and they all use around the same amount of fuel.

I just bought a 24’ Silverado 3.0 duramax. Doing that trip I would get over 30 mpg.
I have had 3.92 axles in my last 3 trucks. With overdrive transmissions it doesn't affect the fuel economy. I am a retired Chrysler product tech. with 45 years in the business. I had customers that had 3.23 axles in their trucks that got worse mileage.
