As the commentators also said - amazing control of the cue-ball, making the next shot look easy. Actually making the next shot easier, both the pot and where the cue-ball ends up. If you're in you're in. If you "drop" out then the struggle begins. A perhaps odd comparison is with bowling. Hit a strike and you get rewarded not only here and now but also henceforth if you play your balls right. (No, not a euphemism, but there's plenty of opportunities for that too.. ;-) )
IMO this is one of the qualities Murphy has - control of the cue-ball.
It's up there but ronnies first is the smoothest

This was the first 147 I ever saw live! I was so excited and nervous, and absolutely convinced that he would mess it up at some point like all the other times I've seen potential maximums xD That last pink definitely had my heart in my throat... This was absolutely fabulous though, and on the back of his 145 just the frame before, just phenomenal.

Agree. Every ball except the pink was pure heart of the pocket, and that one only because his adrenaline over-juiced the blue and he got out of line. That maxi was sublime.

An amazing bit of work, the 147 snooker maximum. I guess the only critical thing about it is the fact that the feat is not competitively dependent. By this I mean a player never needs a 147 to win a frame since in these cases, the frame is essentially over by the time the player reaches about 100. At this point were he to miss, his opponent would need about three snookers on the black and clear the table to win the frame. Still, it doesn't lessen this amazing feat all that much. It's just the strange nature of snooker where play often continues well after the frame has been decided.
Great run! It looked liked the smoothest 147. But if you think that it took Shaun 7:30 video-minutes to complete (edited version), you realise how mind-blowingly fast was Ronnie's 147 in 5:08.
Yeah well that won't be surpassed for a while, if ever, I think. Not only do you need the skill and precision of a Ronnie O'Sullivan, you also need the arrogance and cocksureness of a talented 22-year-old. I mean, he was sprinting around that table, and honestly being a bit reckless with his shots at times. Most people wouldn't risk the 147 slipping away from them just to done with it more quickly.
