Evolution of Koopa's Road

- Purely for entertainment, I wanted to showcase the amazing evolution of this amazing song. Starting in 1996 with Super Mario 64, this song was not heard again until 2007 with the release of Super Mario Galaxy and finally Super Mario Galaxy 2, which would see this song being completely revamped, complete with full orchestration and a chorus. Will this song continue to be in our ears and minds for future Mario games? One can only hope and only time will tell.
at the 64 vid: "sees mario going back to the start to get the red coin"
Me. HOW THE HELL WAS I SO BLIND AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!?
+HackerHaunter03 Same here.....
same here shhh...:(
wow, that's being blind indeed
Same..
HackerHaunter Same xD I remember collecting them and then I was at the end and one coin was missing and I didn't know where it was. I had to start it all again because I forgot the first one and I Fell down the way Back .-.
I don't care what anyone says. The koopa road theme songs are so freakin awsome
I know right
Yesss
The koopa road theme is the best theme ever
it prepares u to kick bowser's ass
Wait... who said they weren't?
it's nice to see Mario 64 music show up in more modern Mario games. I think Mario 64 had some of the best sound tracks ever.
I think so too :)
And this soundtrack proves it, to an extent, this doesn't even sound like something you'd here in a Mario Game, it's so intense, hectic, and dramatic, in other words, quite a serious theme, badass, but still staying true to any other Mario soundtrack. But I'd say it still sounds best in its original form in Super Mario 64/64 DS, but it sounds fucking great in Super Mario Galaxy 2. In fact, I loved it in SMG2, I remember spending hours playing that level. But until hearing it today, I've only just realised its the same theme that I loved listening to on SM64DS, both games are probably my favourite Mario games ever created, or any Nintendo game for that matter.
Bowser in the Dark World I think this themes called, isn't it?
EndlessBard00 it's called koopa's road. or bowser's road. one of the two
Metal Sonic Neo 2.0, It's both.
64's tracks were pretty good, but I hate how copy-and-pasted they are.
N64: Yet another battle with Bowser, but there is far more sinister work in the midst.
Galaxy 1: Although same enemy, he has become far more technically advanced, beware. Galaxy 2: This is it. Your enemy is influentual and hell-bent on destroying you. this may be your final hour.
64DS: Im joke to you ?
I love Galaxy 2's version best. It's one of my favorite Mario games and I love the vocals. They're clean
Don’t say the Lord’s name in vein and don’t curse. Forget the past and live in the present with Christ or if you’ve not yet, turn to Him now! He’s waiting with open arms. He’s always been chasing you through every up and down. All you gotta do is turn around. 🙏✝️
Blud what is you talking abt 😂
@@brennancahill6569 Damn that's crazy
@@brennancahill6569 respectfully, get out.
this song is like actually really well written and has a wicked melody. Koji Kondo is a talented guy.

@brennancahill6569 whatever you say.
When I was playing Mario galaxy for the first time and when this song came up I had the biggest nostalgic feeling of my life and when the song progressed further I was having the biggest fan girl over the song because I was like "Holy crap it's Mario 64 Roads to bowers." just amazing
It's called Koopa's Road.
A User Same thing
I wonder how you felt when you went to throw back galexy lmfao.
You can play galaxy and 64 in one try it 3d al stars
road to bowers is a great name tbh
1:10 that transition though.
Fax
1:58 also
Smooth
Bowser's Road for Smash Bros.!
I Agree with you man they should put it in smash bros
Yo, if they did for ultimate, legendary.
He's called Koopa, right?
In the earlier Mario games in Japan I believe
That and 3D Land's Final Boss theme
i think koopa road is the best music in Mario games with airship theme
The galaxy 1 version is my favorite Mario song EVER
Super Mario 64 is still up there with LoZ Ocarina of Time as one of the best video games in existence.
I can’t believe they didn’t use this track in the rest of the Super Mario series and after a long time. I believe it’s high time they brought this track back in action. It sounds like an action track and I love it.
Super Mario 64 was the first real video game I ever played when I was a kid getting into videogames. I'm proud of that
Super Mario Galaxy is probably the first video game I ever saw.. this really takes me back
when I was a kid, I had a dream where i was in this world myself... and i was stuck there...
1:39 that thwomp Goes to the beat
Original 64 theme will always be the best. I never carried on with the Mario galaxy editions but it's cool that they used the same theme but tweaked and updated it, wouldn't be the same otherwise.
agreed
No the fuck it won't dude, Mario Galaxy 2 with that damn female choir is the best. Just because something is the original doesn't always make it top every other version, you fuckers kill me with that shit.
@@mikewil7571 I agree with the sentiment, since purists always piss me off but in this case they're right. The original 64 version of Koopa's Road just can't be topped, even with SMG2's brilliant orchestral version in consideration. Sorry d00d
Yeah yeah tell that to the game of the decade. Nostalgia must be swaying you
@@Onigirli it is topped tho. Galaxy 2 just did it better. Don't let nostalgia tell you what's wrong
The atmosphere of that level in 64 fit it best imo.
Koopas Road was always my shit. Just me and Bowser in an epic stare down. Face to face after such a harsh adventure in an arena where one will stand and one will fall. 2 souls fighting hard for what they believe in, forces of good and evil clashing together in a fiery rage as war and ruin surrounds them. Stars and moon above, we fight it out until one claims his victory.
Damn, I remember watching this video back then... Good memories
As soon as I got to Bowser's Star Reactor, I was like "FUCK YEAH, Mario 64!!!"
I know right?
Galaxy 2's is good, but I think Galaxy 1's is the definitive version, improving on 64's while still keeping those lovely instruments, mm.
The soundtrack from Mario 64 was untouchable
I just love it, love the atmosphere, really great memories, even if I was a kid and I couldn't even understand what was I suppose to do in that castle in SM64
Because the N64 version was MIDI. In SMG, they wanted it to be total orchestra, so they did.
Galaxy 2*. Don't think Galaxy 1 is like that
Koopa's Road is probably my favorite mainline Mario theme. The only real competition is gusty gardens.
I loved this song it will be added to my edits!
what the songs sound like they take place in:
SMG: Star Wars
SMG2: War
SM64: Hell
Thanks for making this video! This is one of my favorite songs! I think the best version is sm64 and Super Mario Galaxy. When the Super Mario Galaxy ones came on, there were so many memories of me back then trying to complete those levels! One day I am gonna go back to my Wii and enjoy my most favorite Super Mario games in the world again: Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2!!
I love this theme
If Super Mario 64 ever gets an official HD remake with an updated soundtrack, I think it'd be really cool if each Bowser Course had their own unique remix of Koopa's Road.
Bowser in the Dark World
: Basically an updated version of the original Super Mario 64 version.
Bowser in the Fire Sea
: A version that uses similar instruments to Lethal Lava Land, giving it a similar 'sizzling' feel.
Bowser in the Sky
: A climactic orchestral remix with a choir, similar to the Galaxy 2 and Mario & Sonic versions.
Sorry if I did a terrible job explaining my ideas, I'm no music expert.
Nintendo BETTER do this.
2:20 That was perfect timing
One of my biggest regrets was selling my Nintendo 64 with Mario 64 on 😭
u can play it on switch!
now
@@omarzuhairmalaibari296 Yeah i'm sure he doesn't know that ! You idiot... -_-
Omar Zuhair Malaibari Your 1 Year Late 😂
And emulate it
I just bought a Limited Edition Pikachu Orange 64..... First game I got...... Super Mario 64, and they just released (Re-released, rather) the 3D collection. I still prefer the original console, and will NEVER get rid of it.
This is by far the best ost I have heard. Every version of it is so good that I can't choose 'cause they have certain differences.
64: It really shows how sinister and cunning Bowser is.
SMG: It really feels like I am fighting in space.
SMG2: It really feels like the movie is about to end with a boss fight.
So they are unique and I equally love all of them. I may prefer Galaxy 2 but only by a little 'cause the others are really good too. Nintendo needs to do a better version of this in the next 3d Mario game.
I just gets more and more epic with each iteration
As far as this song goes: Galaxy Version > Original > Galaxy 2
The full orchestration sucked the soul out of the song, and the women's vocals murdered what's probably the best bit of it. Still great, but the original concept was the best, and Galaxy perfected it.
Exactly!!!!
Of the Mario Galaxy remixes, while I like Galaxy 2's rendition a lot, I prefer Galaxy 1's version for its "eeriness" reminiscent of the original SM64 version.
It makes me cry. Good times..
I can't decide my favorite. sm64 was basic but original. Galaxy 1 was electronic and sharp while Galaxy 2 was more bold and orchestrated.
That is true
if galaxy 2 was just orchestra and not choir and the other stuff, it wouldve been amazing no doubt
@@luce.3560 the choir made it better wdym
*What about 64DS?*
legendary
If only Nintendo would bring this back someday.
Esse é o melhor vídeo Koopa's Road do youtube!!
Watching this reminds me why Mario is such a good game in general. The free flow of jumping and fighting let you go through places several different ways. There's never just one way to beat a level. Also, just look at the creativity in all three of these games! Especially how gravity works in galaxy, or the wing cap in SM64, or an endless list of things.
Mario is truly timeless.
Heyo My Man Had his channel for 7 years and still uses it
@@s0twin I mean, might as well right? I still stand by this comment btw.
The best theme song on the planet 🌎 to me still this is my number one still after 26 year’s this is still it for me.
wich one
i think the 64 and galaxy 1 versions are the best.
ye
True
No Galaxy 2 version shits on them both
64 and galaxy 2 are the best.
I think galaxy 1 and galaxy 2 are the best
the power of sound design.
64 version sounds more eerie and creepy than the rest
Oh the nostalgia
Thank you for this. I only just discovered tonight (Thanks to SDA's Marathon on twitch.tv) that this song had made a return in galaxy! Awesome.
If they make galaxy 3 and put this in they can take my money
All were great but i found the best original .
Me too :)
Me too.
I thinks it’s called nostalgia
The nostalgia isn't good always...
A Particularly Pointy Soldier and Magdiel ra
Liking something old more than the new is nostalgia even If it's your own personal opinion?
What even is society.
this is so cool I love this video
So cool that they decided to keep it
Oh i love this beautiful music!
The NJT Elimination finale is starting!
0:00 Koopa's Road
1:10 The Fiery Stronghold
1:59 Bowser's Lava Lair
Brings a tear to my eye knowing that some idiot left this out of sunshine :(
I love the galaxy 1 version, because it had the feeling of space, but you were still in a castle. The galaxy 2 version was to dramatic.
That's why the SMG2 version was so good though! It felt like a movie, almost.
Ferenc Ágoston I actually like the Galaxy 2 version the best cause I'm in love with dramatic music, it just gets me going in the level, but I've always loved this song no matter what, it's my favourite music, well one of my faves anyways xP
that's why it is the best one (galaxy 2)
Wow, 5 years later and people still comment =)
What I originally meant was that I love the “synth” or space-like asteatic of the Galaxy 1 version. The Galaxy 2 version, while being the best of the 3, did not really convey the sence of space to me as well as the G1 did.
Actually it went like this (even though the first two aren't really any different):
Super Mario 64 (1996)
Super Mario 64 DS (2004)
Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
It also has appeared multiple times in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Series.
Galaxy 2 is my favorite
Crimson Wolf yes
i love galaxy 2 music
Nothing beats the old one , proud to be born in 1996.
Hello I Am from 2020
you were too young to play it in 1996 if you were born then
@@jytvreal Played it in 2000 or so for the first time 🤷♂️
the OG boss music.
Really? I loved it in all 3. In every one, it gave me a since of epicness and told me that an incredible battle was just ahead.
0:00-0:01. Shit just got real.
Unpopular opinion: Galaxy 2 version is best version
You are not the only one.
I must give it to these guys... designing of mario isn't easy but you brought uniqueness to every installment whch is awesome
That would be awesome!
1996 (wasn't born yet) first played 64 when I was 5 or 6 Mario galaxy 8 Mario galaxy 2 9
Born 2003
First played 64 when I was 3, Played Galaxy when I was 5, Played Galaxy 2 when I was about... 8, Man I have all the nostalgia for this game alright.
Born in 1989 I was 7 when Super Mario 64 came out. I have fond memories of that game.
BarrelRollGameplay Born in 1768 and didn't play the game because it wasn't out yet.
Wait, how can you play super Mario galaxy when you were 8, and you played super Mario galaxy 2 when you were 9? they are 3 years apart.
Galaxy 1 is my favorite. Understated elegance.
This theme should Play every time you enter Bowsers Castle in a Mario game And When you fight him it plays his boss theme
Very fitting
close your eyes, your on your way to the bathroom in slow motion, your life is complete
64: Desert walk
Galaxy: Out of the escape room
2: PERISHING BLAZE!
dont forget the remastred mario 64 on ds, thats also a fun one with koopas road
yep.
Bethany bear That’s the version that I finished.
It’s the exact same theme from super Mario 64, just sounds a lot shitter due to decompression
The Bowser main's national anthem.
They better put this ost in the super mario bros movie
I remember this video! years have passed...
why tf is this so fire
Nice music
Jack Black's Road.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
While the Galaxy and 64 are great, it’s just a fact that Galaxy 2’s version is the best
Now BOYS if the galaxy games came out before SM64 you know your answers would be different
My ranking:
1. Super Mario Galaxy
2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
3. Super Mario 64
This is in my recommend 10 years after it came out 😂
And I did this on the channel I don't use anymore. I don't even remember the login information for it. Lol. I did this purely out of respect for the music. I don't know how this keeps getting views. I didn't expect it to blow up like this
All of the versions sound absolutely amazing but for me, Galaxy 2 is a little over the top. I think Galaxy 1 did a really nice job of remastering the song without getting rid of it's original charm.
That being said I would've hated it if they had done the same thing in galaxy 2- I'm just glad they decided to have the first remix be more faithful to the original so it wouldn't be so jarring when they added on to it.
You've got a point there Andy.
1:31 N O S T A L G I A
Huh I don't know how you did it but looks fantasic
Super Mario Galaxy 2 stage got me Fu*k up
i think mario and zelda have had the best evolution over the years, and have both made excellent (and i mean excellent) transitions from 2D to 3D, with no bad games to their names.. Nintendo really knows what they are doing
Super Mario 64: *Yellow block that moves*
5yo me: 𝙘 𝙃 𝙚 𝙀 𝙨 𝙀
Lol
Bit of trivia. The first 2 seconds of this song are used in Mario Party 9 when the group reaches the ending Boss Battle on a map.
SM64: You can do it Mario!
SMG1: Bowers is waiting for you Mario!
SMG2: Errrr Mario your kinda screwed
the 64 one has that charm that the other ones dont quite have
the menu from melee is a remix of Bowser's road, with an orchestra and sped up to about 1.5x
In my opinion, first version is the best.
All these versions are good, but have you heard Newer SMB Wii’s version?
The smg 1 version is probably my favorite (The Fiery Stronghold)
What about Super Mario 64 DS?
+Hedge Hawk (Super Hedge Hawk 52550) ...it's pretty much just an exact recreation of the n64's, just shittier due to compression.
That Guy Who Sleeps in the Hood of Your Car Yes but it still was good in my opinion
Hedge Hawk well i didn't mean to paint it in a bad light, I think it was ported to the DS pretty nicely, compared to some of the other songs that were ported.... hazy maze cave sounds just _ugh_ on the DS to me.
That Guy Who Sleeps in the Hood of Your Car true true
It's just a remake of the first one.I played the DS version, since I wasn't born nowhere near when super Mario 64 came out.
Nostalgic
*tear* nostalgy
