    I think one of the most important factors that might get overlooked is the fact that this goes up to 11, one more unit of light than the others. 🤘

    Nice project! It reminded me of a project i made back in 1987, it was a guitar size plastic glass synth, with bunch of square wave oscillators and three LEDs, red, green and yellow turned around in circles by a small motor while powered from oscillators. It made nice stroboscopic effect of lights running around with correction in speed to change in frequency of sounds

    Amazing job! The microcontroller and display on the back is such a great idea. I'm currently designing a guitar for 3D printing. I'd be keen to hear what you would change if you were to start over again?

    • @joshendy
      @joshendy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! I think I may reprint the center part of the guitar at some stage with higher infill as it's slightly bending under the stress of the strings. Other than that, I'd like to make the headstock light up but I'd pretty much need to make a neck to do that. I'll probably add a DAC to the electronics at some point too so I can add distortion and other effects via the little display on the back of the guitar.

    • @AaronMatthies
      @AaronMatthies 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@joshendy That's a shame about the body bending. Most of the other builds I've seen used a 100% infill for the body block - I'd hate to think how long that would take to print. Onboard effects would be great to see - especially if you could incorporate controls such as an XY pad like Matt Bellamy does to control different parameters. Well done on the build.

      @@joshendy Fantastic. I'm definitely interested. I like that you've used a 24 fret Jackson or Ibanez style neck rather than a Strat neck too.
      I'd need to work out some way of splitting to print on an Ender 3. I'd imagine most people don't have access to print on a 300 x 300 printer.

    • @joshendy
      @joshendy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It only responds to what's being played on the guitar as it senses the output of the guitar directly from its pickup that generates voltages when the guitar strings vibrate.

      Stays as well in tune as my LTD guitar which is quite surprising! ABS is quite a stiff plastic (think about how strong a little lego block is).

    • @joshendy
      @joshendy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The largest part can only fit on a 300x300mm bed and only still when rotated 45 degrees. It's possible to chop it up to fit even on a tiny 3D printer it'd just require a lot of glue and careful alignment.
