It just dawned on me Beard... What if Wigfrid's refresh doesn't change much about her but adds a few seafaring bonuses. She is a Viking after all and Vikings were known for setting sail.
I just realized something, ancient guardian (hardest hitter) at 100 damage The Rockjaw shark does 30x3 = 90 damage Thats 10 less than a Boss yet is a random fish that drops just 4 fish meat....
The should probably remove that if you get trapped on a boat from losing any way of moving the boat or you get trapped by another player you are just stuck
I feel like Klei should tweak the boat plank so that when you CHOOSE to jump off, you don't lose items, but still lose health and gain wetness. Because I would think the act of being on the boat as it shatters into pieces would cause your player a bit of 'shock' which could cause them to drop items. But willingly jumping into the water would mean they hold onto their stuff better??? Idk it just makes more sense.
@@electroplaque i think drowning is better,i dont know drowning mechanics well but i know your items will be gone for sure if you choose to die from fire,your items might drop to the water if you jump off so you can at least take them back some time later

I think the plank’s main purpose is to offer an escape option to player’s that are stuck in the middle of the ocean with no options of returning other than simply jumping off. These situations are rare considering driftwood and the fact that you only need 1 wood to make an oar, but if you’re like me and come underprepared often then this is a nice situation where Klei punishes you for your mistakes rather than having to use the rescue me command for their mistakes.
I hope thanks to you more people will at least not crash the boat or forget everything but their rumbling tummy and rattling skull. seriously how many people hive had join my ship only to cause wavy jones/food crisis on the ship is annoyingly high, It's like a new install webber joined me for a ruins rush.

I think it's because solid structures (things like alchemy,crocpot,mast, and firepit) blocked where you where jumping meaning to the game you are above water but not on valid space so it just plunges you, this can happen most often with careless soul hopping as wortox around boats.
i built my boat after watching this video and then i sailed, after 10-15 seconds later BAM! a fucking lightning struck my boat and i didnt build fire ext. and i watched my boat burning to the ashes and woke up at shore...
On the new world my friend and I started playing on, I built a bridge about 5-6 boats long because I didn't want to walk all the way around just to get to the desert oasis 😂
I think Klei included the boat just in case a player somehow lost the ability to move their boats, such as oars possibly burning, boss fights, not having eno=ugh oars, etc, and this lets the player possible keep some items as well as abandon ship so they aren't stuck there until someone else can come to get them with another boat.
To put is more clearly, the Plank is a last resort if you loose both your Mast and Ore and materials for Ores so your not stranded without anyway back.
Oh, I certainly get that aspect of it, yes. I am more or less confused why there isn't even a slight difference in the two options we have in the unfortunate scenario of a boat-sink.
@@TheBeard777 I imagine it's to enforce a sort of punishing feeling and the sort of wariness they want around the sea. The idea of losing all your stuff might make less confidant players want to pack light with lots of oars, make more advanced players worry about things like their sail, and confuse veterans like you because you understand what you are going to need. I didn't say it was implemented well, as most of the seafaring is it needs refinement, but I think that's what they're going for.
Dont use 2 malba sails idk if it was patched in the latest update but with 2 malba sails there is a change your builds just decide to nope out as it will just detach from your boat and it will just float acting as items in the water as you can push them around with your boat so i guess you could maby make something out of the bug
Hello Beard, a strange bug don't allowed me to sail when I use two winged sails on my boat. I loose the control of the boat when the character takes the steering wheel kit. I've found no solution for this in internet, just a few comments without explanation. I use allmost no mods in my game, so .... a real mystery ????

I dont like this boat, to expensive, slow as heck, shipwrecked ones sre far cooler to use and even the equips are better, this one only seems good to make sea bases and bridges

Yeah, never quite made sense to me either.
But not being able to carry stuff while trying to swim through wild sea kinda makes sense too no matter how you entered the water jumped or fell
If your boat is on fire, then I think that you can use the plank to abandon ship before you die from the fire.
Well of course but that's not the point, the point is that no matter the means of drowning from a ship the results are the same.

I would really like a fighting pattern to tackle 14-15 hounds coming at you and another player at the same time on day 130.

The plank's use is for when it happens for you to be sailing and your oar break and you can't make another.
I like walking the plank with Wurt. Especially with her new skill tree that takes advantage of wetness for health and armor

I also heard that with the boat plank, if you jump off as Wurt you don't lose stats or items but gain 50 wetness.
Well she can sink with the boat and have the same thing happen so that really doesn't have anything to do with the plank.
sometimes when i try to jump on the boat, instead of landing on the boat i end up falling in the water. why does that happen?

One time I built a campfire on a boat. I don't know what else I expected.
My first time at see i had about 3 dozen enemys burrow into my boat and sink it. I placed over a dozen plugs and the whole boat was still gushing😂

If you have trouble with collecting wood, I suggest befriending pigs and chop down trees. The pigs in general are my army lol
