We just had a season of all winners. Now, we need to see a season featuring contestants who either finished in 2nd place or at the very least tied for 2nd place.
I love how the cast have more older players and average looking people. Some seasons are stacked with young bikini babes and surfer bros like it’s a dating show

Most dangerous season? I find that laughable. Have they forgotten about Kaoh Rong and Africa? How about Guatemala? All of those seasons were brutal on contestants. Hard to see how Fiji can be brutal on contestants
Despite all those advantages the core of the show remained surprisingly strong. It was still more about the social aspects. I can recall no idols getting played this past season and only three advantages were used. Two extra votes and the knowledge is power advantage. Honestly the things I'd change is thr three way trigger for idols or drop the no vote penalty. It makes whom has them super obvious to everyone and the risk vastly outweighs the reward. People have long ago found ways to flush idols or just bring back the nullifier. So said penalty isn't needed. Lastly tweak or drop knowledge is power. It's extremely busted and Xander only dodged that because Liana was ridiculously obvious with it.
The shoehorned in social commentary is absolutely not needed... it feels so extremely forced and fake and it takes up a lot of time with already convoluted new aspects and a very short runningtime. Episode 9 of S42 was a bizarre low.
They should make a season full of players that got voted out pre-merge, like Peter from Kaoh Rong, So from Worlds Apart, Reem from Edge of Extinction and many others with good potencial

are you ok? think outside the box please, that is why they innovate by providing twists in the game to make sure that the people who are in the bottom still has a fighting chance to win the game or at least to move further.. if not, then the game will be so predictable which will make the show boring since 1 person from a big alliance will win the game.
Agreed, except having one idol on each beach and letting them reappear until merge is definitely fair for the tribe dynamics. When the go onto the merge beach only one idol can be rehidden. Swaps are also okay to shake up the premerge as long as they only have one swap per season. It’s when they have someone go to exile or add a bunch of random advantages and twists to throw people off is when it gets bad but idols have been for 16 years and swaps for 20, let those two things stay and let’s have a normal season
@@kevinblitz1053 I think survivor team team should brush up on making challenge for immunity and reward and let the player decide the politic on who should be vote out. Too many advantages kinda useless since nobody uses immunity idol in season 41.

I feel like attention has been 100% directed at the social aspect of the game including idols and advantages, and the challenge part of the game has been completed side saddled. The challenges are only barely more interesting than watching paint dry. I use to complain that they weren't physical enough, but hell at this point I don't even care about physical. Just make them creative and interesting to watch. Idk exactly what it is but something needs to change about the game because watching an entire group of people stand up and scramble last minute at tribal every week is becoming more exhausting than exciting to watch personally.

I never cringed so hard during a Survivor season... but I haven't seen 43 yet so that probably is even worse. After S40 the producers made a conscience choice to ruin the format and really lost the plot. Australian Survivor is so much better. I hope they don't go the same route as this heavily controlled crap...

Survivor 41,will be like no other before it. With many challenges to overcome, at a fast pace. A long with tons of pressure and risk. Will this be survival of the fittest or survival of the smartest.With the addition of 18 more survivors, this will just add to already wild challenge. Each survivor, better not take this contest lightly because if they do they will not come out alive as your solo survivor. If you want see who will be the last survivor, then, tune into a new season of survivor this coming spring.

Fiji is now their permanent filming location, which means they can't name the seasons after their locations anymore, so the only way they could really name the seasons would be to have a new twist/theme for each one, and there probably just aren't that many more they could do.

I have been watching survivor from the beginning the last two or three seasons haven't been very good sorry to say I miss the old survivor ways I don't mind changes twist and plots but the last two seasons perhaps three have gone downhill not happy can we fix this because I really do love survivor this is the only program I watch on television.
Am I the only one who is not hyped for this season? Like, it’s going to be the same format. But on top of that it hints that some, if not most, of the advantages from S41 are coming back. In other words any sense of originality can be thrown out the window and you can have low expectations.
You realize the gameplay will be different right? It’s not the same players lmao (obviously). I bet the twists will be relatively similar, but the results won’t be the same. I mean, I could say this same thing for many past seasons of survivor.

Followed by strategy talking and then the tribal. Most strategy talk and games between players can be compared to previous seasons and previous players. 41 seasons and 20 years and being unique with your own plan isn’t possible anymore. You’ll only be compared to previous players. That’s not to say that’s bad, on the contrary that’s what makes a season even watchable. Strategies and planning is a core element of survivor. Survivor indeed follows the same formula when it comes to the way it’s made, but to me 2 things that make every single season different is the cast and the twists. The former carries a lot of weight in terms of how good a season is. WAW has some predictable gameplay but the cast makes the season an easy top 5. S41 also goes the same lengths, but it’s hindered so heavily because of the twists. Twists to me hinder the chances of a season being good, and if S42 is gonna be so similar to S41. Then I’m praying the cast will be just as memorable as S41. Because S42 looks almost like a copy paste season and I don’t like that. I really want to be proved wrong because Survivor is awesome so I hope that when it airs and episodes roll out. It’s not just a cookie cutter version of S41 and it can stand out on its own.

After what I will call the "COVID seasons" are over, they MUST return to the 39-day format. They have to. The only people I remember from last season are Xander and Shan. That's it. I don't even remember the winner's name. Like, okay, I KNOW it's Erika, but I had to pick around in my head for it. You didn't get to know anyone, not deeply.

I’ve heard people who have been fans of survivor since the beginning say that this has been the hardest season to like because we never get to know the players, and besides Richard and Shan, there’s really no meaningful relationships. The winner was not as deserving as some other players, and nobody successfully played an idol. It’s just unsatisfying to watch. Nobody likes beware advantages. Nobody likes 26 days. Nobody likes when Deshawn picked a box. I understand that some of this was due to COVID but I mean it was just a horrible season and the show is losing ratings and viewers faster than ever. If they don’t pick it up survivor will be gone forever. This is production’s fault. Not the viewers.

I have an amazing Idea for Season 43. Survivor: First Boots Boot Camp The island of the idols returns, this time working with different players. This time Sandra and Rob work with players that have been voted out first ONLY in all of there seasons or season played. Their jobs to teach them tips and tricks, strategies, and hacks to help them not get voted out first or pre- merge. And maybe give them something a little special if they beat them in a challenge. Then when merge hits they will leave, hoping that whoever had gone will listen to there words. People who have chosen NOT to go to the island of the islands may really have regrets and bare them out throughout the rest of their game. There are 18 castaways, and here would be a list of the tribes Pink Tribe: Tina (Season 12), Carolina(Season 17), Marisa (Season 19), Francesqua (Season 20 and 26), Wanda (Season 10), Sarah (Season 41), Reem (Season 38), Nadiya (Season 29), Gonzalez (Season 36), Purple Tribe: Chicken (Season 15), Darnell(Season 32), David ( Season 28), Jonathan (Season 10),....
Not sure if wanda will play again but she also would love to see how she plays. Frencesqua playing would be funny af if she gets voted out 1st again. Nadiya might not play since she has a child alr but who knows.
Looking at this cast that still is implementing 50/50 CBS diversity mandate that is ok though I preferred 60-40 split as it mirrors US demographic better f.e. similar to S39 Island of the Idols cast. My question why are CBS and Survivor breaking their own rule as quick run down of the S42 cast. It seems 2/3 of the cast are BIPOP and LGBT players. This does not feel 50/50 spilt.

Hummmmm I have watched survivor from day one and Big Fan!..... but this version of survivor (extreme) is a little much, twists and turns are great but go back to 29 days and Give them rice for god sake's! survivor 42 would scare a lot of older people and make them not want to apply or play at all.
I sure hope #42 is better than #41. I stopped watching at the last 4 episodes - in my opinion, #41 was the most B O R I N G of all Survivor seasons! Who is picking the contestants? I suggest they go back to the original selection criteria and the producers back peddle to return to whatever it was previous episodes had that this one lacked. Personally, I found NO HEROES and NO VILLAINS worth following. Erica was the only contestant I liked somewhat, but where are the Parvati Shallows, Russel Hanzes, Malcolms, Micheles, Ciries, Yuls, Sandras, Tonys? The only contestants in this season #41 I cared about were the ones I disliked enough to hope they got eliminated. I'm a recent survivor follower, having binge-watched ALL:40 seasons in the past two years. Some were easily better than others but #41 has ALL beat by far for the most forgettable. Past players were selected according to the interest they were expected to generate according to special personality characteristics. None of Season #41 players were people I'd talk with at a party or at school or at work or on the street or on a vacation. They were an uninteresting bunch. Survivor needs to pay more attention to their mistakes and repeat their successful seasons instead of protecting against imagined loss of viewer interest after successful seasons. Survivor's new 'rules' and added "twists" for season #41 lessened my interest. I don't know the reason for the shortened duration, but in this case, LESS WAS LESS, NOT MORE! From what I paid attention to, there was less idol strategy and less strategy in general. Most #41 contestants apparently lacked the mentality to create the winning strategies I'd become accustomed to seeing among Survivor finalists. WAKE UP PRODUCERS! RESTORE SURVIVOR to its days of glory. Refer to the latest successful season, "Winners At War", my favorite. Find yourself some REAL Survivor personalities again. Include some older athletes and schemers who still have the spark of life and will to win. Even BAD personalities are better than NO personalities. What did all the winners who competed in season #40 have in common? Every one of them was an interesting person; each had a real story; each possessed character traits that made them persons of SUBSTANCE. NONE was BORING! Please search for such people when you choose your next Survivor cast to assure another 20 years of exciting Survivor series.
Season 40 honestly seemed like the end of Survivor. 41 may have been the worst season. All the advantages and twists created a final 3, none of whom controlled any part of the game. And the guy with the best resume getting zero votes. Going the route of being more dangerous is a mistake. They should make it as raw as possible. 1 idol per tribe. 3 tribes. All strategy and relationships. Or even better. No real idols. All fake idols. But see how people are able to use them to gain power EDIT: my comment isn’t to say Xander played a good game. The final 3 were all trash. It’s like all the real threats shot each other and these 3 were all that were left. None would ever come back for an “all stars” season. But my point is that something seemed off. For Xander to get ZERO votes seemed like the jury had bias’. We know Liana did. Her “I hate his stupid face” comment… her and Shan were never gonna vote for Xander.
I sincerely can't see the "Xander had the best resume" argument. If he had the best resume...then why did he get no votes? Why did he just stop doing things after the Liana blocked idol steal? He held onto an idol and did nothing with it; worse, nobody even cared that he had it. I think the unfortunately reality if the edit is to be believed is that he played a risky, exciting early game and then, intentionally or not, found himself on an off-ramp that he took to a position of being completely irrelevant as a force to potentially win. He had the power to dictate firemaking and executed arguably the worst permutation possible, he botched FTC, and the jury noticed.

She created the plan to split the votes between Shan and Liana, convinced people to vote out Danny over Deshawn, and had Xander be foolish enough to take her to the final 3, with him thinking she was great at firemaking. What did Xander do other than misplay two advantages and his one singular move, having Liana misplay her advantage, which he wouldn't have even had the knowledge about if Tiffany didn't tell him?
It most certianly wasn't worse than Thailand (S5), One World (S24) or Island of the Idols (S39). It was definately a pretty average season but it had an alright cast and no terrible moments or incidents. It also had some decent characters (Brad, Naseer, Xander) and interesting villains (Shan, Ricard). I would say it started strong, had a decent middle and fell flat at the end but I would still put it above probably 10-15 seasons.
Unless they've made changes from 41 ( which was the worst season ever ) I won't be watching it. I've been a fan since day 1 and was so disappointed at the last season, couldn't even make it through.

For example, no one targeted Xander since the merge because they knew this was a "diverse" winner season. These 2 seasons had to be 26 days because of covid protocols. It's still the same number of episodes, so the number of days really doesn't matter.

I feel like attention has been 100% directed at the social aspect of the game including idols and advantages, and the challenge part of the game has been completed side saddled. The challenges are only barely more interesting than watching paint dry. I use to complain that they weren't physical enough, but hell at this point I don't even care about physical. Just make them creative and interesting to watch. Idk exactly what it is but something needs to change about the game because watching an entire group of people stand up and scramble last minute at tribal every week is becoming more exhausting than exciting to watch personally.

After S40 the producers made a conscience choice to ruin the format and really lost the plot. Australian Survivor is so much better. I hope they don't go the same route as this heavily controlled crap...

Fiji is now their permanent filming location, which means they can't name the seasons after their locations anymore, so the only way they could really name the seasons would be to have a new twist/theme for each one, and there probably just aren't that many more they could do.

I have been watching survivor from the beginning the last two or three seasons haven't been very good sorry to say I miss the old survivor ways I don't mind changes twist and plots but the last two seasons perhaps three have gone downhill not happy can we fix this because I really do love survivor this is the only program I watch on television.

Like, it’s going to be the same format. But on top of that it hints that some, if not most, of the advantages from S41 are coming back.
In other words any sense of originality can be thrown out the window and you can have low expectations.
You realize the gameplay will be different right? It’s not the same players lmao (obviously). I bet the twists will be relatively similar, but the results won’t be the same. I mean, I could say this same thing for many past seasons of survivor.

A bunch of people play in teams and compete for rewards and for safety from being voted out on tribal. Followed by strategy talking and then the tribal.
Most strategy talk and games between players can be compared to previous seasons and previous players. 41 seasons and 20 years and being unique with your own plan isn’t possible anymore. You’ll only be compared to previous players. That’s not to say that’s bad, on the contrary that’s what makes a season even watchable. Strategies and planning is a core element of survivor.
Survivor indeed follows the same formula when it comes to the way it’s made, but to me 2 things that make every single season different is the cast and the twists. The former carries a lot of weight in terms of how good a season is. WAW has some predictable gameplay but the cast makes the season an easy top 5. S41 also goes the same lengths, but it’s hindered so heavily because of the twists.
Twists to me hinder the chances of a season being good, and if S42 is gonna be so similar to S41. Then I’m praying the cast will be just as memorable as S41. Because S42 looks almost like a copy paste season and I don’t like that.
I really want to be proved wrong because Survivor is awesome so I hope that when it airs and episodes roll out. It’s not just a cookie cutter version of S41 and it can stand out on its own.

After what I will call the "COVID seasons" are over, they MUST return to the 39-day format. They have to. The only people I remember from last season are Xander and Shan. That's it. I don't even remember the winner's name. Like, okay, I KNOW it's Erika, but I had to pick around in my head for it. You didn't get to know anyone, not deeply.

I’ve heard people who have been fans of survivor since the beginning say that this has been the hardest season to like because we never get to know the players, and besides Richard and Shan, there’s really no meaningful relationships. The winner was not as deserving as some other players, and nobody successfully played an idol. It’s just unsatisfying to watch. Nobody likes beware advantages. Nobody likes 26 days. Nobody likes when Deshawn picked a box. I understand that some of this was due to COVID but I mean it was just a horrible season and the show is losing ratings and viewers faster than ever. If they don’t pick it up survivor will be gone forever. This is production’s fault. Not the viewers.

The island of the idols returns, this time working with different players. This time Sandra and Rob work with players that have been voted out first ONLY in all of there seasons or season played. Their jobs to teach them tips and tricks, strategies, and hacks to help them not get voted out first or pre- merge. And maybe give them something a little special if they beat them in a challenge. Then when merge hits they will leave, hoping that whoever had gone will listen to there words. People who have chosen NOT to go to the island of the islands may really have regrets and bare them out throughout the rest of their game. There are 18 castaways, and here would be a list of the tribes

Looking at this cast that still is implementing 50/50 CBS diversity mandate that is ok though I preferred 60-40 split as it mirrors US demographic better f.e. similar to S39 Island of the Idols cast. My question why are CBS and Survivor breaking their own rule as quick run down of the S42 cast. It seems 2/3 of the cast are BIPOP and LGBT players. This does not feel 50/50 spilt.

Hummmmm I have watched survivor from day one and Big Fan!..... but this version of survivor (extreme) is a little much, twists and turns are great but go back to 29 days and Give them rice for god sake's! survivor 42 would scare a lot of older people and make them not want to apply or play at all.

I sure hope #42 is better than #41. I stopped watching at the last 4 episodes - in my opinion, #41 was the most B O R I N G of all Survivor seasons! Who is picking the contestants? I suggest they go back to the original selection criteria and the producers back peddle to return to whatever it was previous episodes had that this one lacked. Personally, I found NO HEROES and NO VILLAINS worth following. Erica was the only contestant I liked somewhat, but where are the Parvati Shallows, Russel Hanzes, Malcolms, Micheles, Ciries, Yuls, Sandras, Tonys? The only contestants in this season #41 I cared about were the ones I disliked enough to hope they got eliminated. I'm a recent survivor follower, having binge-watched ALL:40 seasons in the past two years. Some were easily better than others but #41 has ALL beat by far for the most forgettable. Past players were selected according to the interest they were expected to generate according to special personality characteristics. None of Season #41 players were people I'd talk with at a party or at school or at work or on the street or on a vacation. They were an uninteresting bunch.
Survivor needs to pay more attention to their mistakes and repeat their successful seasons instead of protecting against imagined loss of viewer interest after successful seasons. Survivor's new 'rules' and added "twists" for season #41 lessened my interest. I don't know the reason for the shortened duration, but in this case, LESS WAS LESS, NOT MORE! From what I paid attention to, there was less idol strategy and less strategy in general. Most #41 contestants apparently lacked the mentality to create the winning strategies I'd become accustomed to seeing among Survivor finalists.
WAKE UP PRODUCERS! RESTORE SURVIVOR to its days of glory. Refer to the latest successful season, "Winners At War", my favorite. Find yourself some REAL Survivor personalities again. Include some older athletes and schemers who still have the spark of life and will to win. Even BAD personalities are better than NO personalities. What did all the winners who competed in season #40 have in common? Every one of them was an interesting person; each had a real story; each possessed character traits that made them persons of SUBSTANCE. NONE was BORING!
Please search for such people when you choose your next Survivor cast to assure another 20 years of exciting Survivor series.

Season 40 honestly seemed like the end of Survivor. 41 may have been the worst season. All the advantages and twists created a final 3, none of whom controlled any part of the game. And the guy with the best resume getting zero votes. Going the route of being more dangerous is a mistake. They should make it as raw as possible. 1 idol per tribe. 3 tribes. All strategy and relationships. Or even better. No real idols. All fake idols. But see how people are able to use them to gain power
EDIT: my comment isn’t to say Xander played a good game. The final 3 were all trash. It’s like all the real threats shot each other and these 3 were all that were left. None would ever come back for an “all stars” season. But my point is that something seemed off. For Xander to get ZERO votes seemed like the jury had bias’. We know Liana did. Her “I hate his stupid face” comment… her and Shan were never gonna vote for Xander.
I sincerely can't see the "Xander had the best resume" argument. If he had the best resume...then why did he get no votes? Why did he just stop doing things after the Liana blocked idol steal? He held onto an idol and did nothing with it; worse, nobody even cared that he had it. I think the unfortunately reality if the edit is to be believed is that he played a risky, exciting early game and then, intentionally or not, found himself on an off-ramp that he took to a position of being completely irrelevant as a force to potentially win. He had the power to dictate firemaking and executed arguably the worst permutation possible, he botched FTC, and the jury noticed.

Xander deffinitely shit the bed at the end and did not portray his accomplishments adequately. He had been a target and had to fight way harder than Erika to stay in this game imo. New woke survivor had to have a POC win because a straight white guy is not gonna cut it for the angry blue haired land whales on Twitter.
@@jimlahey8210 Xander literally skated by the entire game because everyone saw him as a nonfactor. Ever since the Shan vote out, Erika has been in the driver's seat. She created the plan to split the votes between Shan and Liana, convinced people to vote out Danny over Deshawn, and had Xander be foolish enough to take her to the final 3, with him thinking she was great at firemaking. What did Xander do other than misplay two advantages and his one singular move, having Liana misplay her advantage, which he wouldn't have even had the knowledge about if Tiffany didn't tell him?
It most certianly wasn't worse than Thailand (S5), One World (S24) or Island of the Idols (S39). It was definately a pretty average season but it had an alright cast and no terrible moments or incidents. It also had some decent characters (Brad, Naseer, Xander) and interesting villains (Shan, Ricard). I would say it started strong, had a decent middle and fell flat at the end but I would still put it above probably 10-15 seasons.

Stupidest thing I’ve ever seen
As a queer person, a “gay vs. bi vs. straight” season would be absolute trash. Not only is that just a… bad idea all around that provides little interesting criteria, but more importantly that implies that a person’s orientation dictates who they are. Straight, bi, gay, ace: it does not define anyone.
