    I came here to testify! Over the past year my scalp had been breaking out in Scalp itchy patchy scabs that i would comb out and sometimes hair would come out with it. This NEVER happened before. I would wash my hair and two days later it would start developing again. I tried bentonite clay, diacotameus earth and aloe Vera on my scalp as a detox. And even went plant based with my diet. NOTHING worked for a year! So i went on a limb and bought the shakakai powder u suggested... GIRL the dry scalp patches have disappeared. It’s been 10 days and my scalp is the cleanest it’s ever been. It’s finally returned back to normal. THANK YOU so much!

      U serious😆 detoxing ur hair was always up but ppl don't like it cause it's leave ur hair dry but u have to use a deep moisturize conditioner after u detox ur hair to put back in the moisture. U can use bentonite clay or the one from Mielle to detox ur hair.
      I can give u 25% off ur products

    I tried the first scalp detox (baking soda, aloe vera gel, olive oil, etc...) I did add a pure mint tea bag to the other two. My scalp felt squeaky clean when I was done. I shampooed, conditioned and rinse! rinse! rinsed! (some times I wonder if I don't rinse enough to get everything off my scalp.) I sealed the deal with a rinse of ACV and a shot of cold water! Thank you for this recipe!

    Love shikakai!! I add it to my clay washes and my natural ABS shampoo that I make. Lol this vid explains why the first comment I get from stylists when I go to a salon is: your scalp looks really good! Enjoyed the vid! Ion do baking soda, because with my luck I'd be the one who experienced it relaxing my curl pattern (I've read it can do that to some folks).

    I am curious what a PH strip would show this mix with the lemon & baking soda to be. It seems very acidic and I know it is important for things on the hair to be ph balanced. Idk if it is different for high or low porosity, but as high porosity I would be hesitant to put this on my scalp especially on all of my hair. I think my raised cuticles wouldn’t agree 😅
    I love shikakai though! It’s great.

      Do you take a multi vitamin sis? May I suggest focusing more on healthy hair, rather then length. By so doing you should retain length. And I also use moringa power which I mix with olive oil and rosemary essential oil, and I use this as a prepoo overnight. It has worked like magic. May I also suggest watching new growth naturals you tube channel. Good luck. Ohhh and don't forget to drink loads of water.

      How is your detangling process? Are you rough with your hair? Do you have excess shedding or do you wait a long time to detangle? I’ve found that not having the correct detangling routine can negate other healthy hair practices.

    • @maureenmn288
      @maureenmn288 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      One thing I realized during my natural hair journey is that we're usually too focused on the roots of our hair and not the length. Length retention is KEY. You might want to try low manipulation protective styles that can last really long (ie: mini twists or mini braids). If you look at videos of natural hair TH-camrs with waist/tailbone length hair that's usually how they were able to maintain their length. I've tried it myself and now I'm actually seeing results!

  • @AmandaD33

    I am so eager to start my natural hair Journey. I'm just not sure I want to do the big chop... I also want to use more natural products on my hair. How did you feel when you begin your natural hair Journey?

    • @MEAJJEKL
      @MEAJJEKL 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I grew up with a perm and when I went natural, I made the choice to chop it all off down to almost bald. As a woman, a black woman no less, it can be scary to do such a drastic thing to the hair. What I can suggest is to have fun with it (if you choose this option) by going to the barber and getting it lined up nicely or getting girly designs shaved into it. Cute beanies and hats fit better with less hair, and pretty flower garlands. And hoop earrings pop so much more with short hair. Headwraps are also easier to use. These were ways I would "style" my baldness lol. As it grows in, you'll get to enjoy the journey of your hair from root to stem. It is such a special experience to intimately know each strand's path. You will get used to the short length and before you know it, you'll have a fro out to the sky. Ultimately it is your hair journey so you need to do what's best for you, and whatever that is I wish you and your crown the best 🤎

      Can baking soda damage your hair?
      Baking soda has a pH of 9, which is far higher than that of the scalp. Using a product with such a high pH may harm the hair. Over time, baking soda can strip the natural oil from the hair, lead to breakage, and make the hair fragile. Baking soda is going to mess up some of these peoples head...tsk tsk. 😂🤣

      If they only knew hair is super sensitive to ph. Worst of all is put it in the scalp a few hair hair follicles will be surely destroyed.
      DYIs are so bad I really don’t understand why “natural “ hair community is so obsessed about it. There’s no science or secret behind hair growth. Make sure your scalp is clean , use a few products and trim.

    • @bladerunner9298

      @@pamg4174 yep, they don’t understand that there is more to hair than DYIs, products etc. a lot of it is missing vitamins in your body, what you eat and drink, and genetics. Black women can grow long hair if they do less. Notice how black men’s hair gowns long if they let it? And all they do is shampoo, maybe conditioner and grease and thats it and their hair grows. Blue ivy moms left her hair alone and it’s down her back. But folks where up in arms over it😂🤣. Need to know your hair before you do all these crazy things to it.
