    14 inch is such a sweet spot ..

    Since I've owned 13, 14, 15, and 16 inch macbook pros I have a good feel for what works: for general work/travel, sitting in your lap, the 13 inch m1 or the 14 inch m3 (base model) is perfect. If you are doing active work, including even editing of docs, but especially final cut pro, other video-enhanced work, and you want some portability, get the 16-inch. The other option is to get a monitor and a 14 inch.

    Coming from an XPS 15, with a dedicated PC dekatop, I got the 14" m3 Max with 14 core 30gpu, 36gb 1tb - loving the power and portability.
    I feel it's rather simple - if you don't have a dedicated desktop, get the 16" otherwise 14" is more than enough.

    I'm having 14 inch one. This one is cute and very good for travelling.

    This by far the best video discussing this matter. You have both sizes at display all the time.
    The argument you both came up with to justify the option you went up with are logical, make sense and have good rationale behind them.

    I need the screen real estate while editing. I regretted going from the 12 inch iPad Pro to the 11 inch. Yes it made traveling marginally easier but productivity lacked. Especially in illustration

      16 inch also gives better speakers and less chance of thermal throttling, the only benefit of 14 inch is a bit more portability.

    I got the 16 inch but it still looks small to me. I can't complain because this is maybe the perfect sized laptop I have ever used. So Go ahead and only buy the 16 inch if you're getting M3 pro or the max variant. Mine is 16inch max model.

    great video! i've had a 15Inch Pro for 9 years now and it is aging. I'm thinking about trying to get the 14 MBP on sale today. It would be an adjustment, but i also recognize a 16in would be an adjustment too. Over the long run, i probably would go with the larger one, as i'm in my mid-50s and i like the large screen. But, the portability would be nice too....Decisions....Best! thanks!

      @@productfeedbackYeah; I can tell a difference. The bigger screen is so nice, speakers sound much better. The battery life is insane; I’ve had it for 5 days so far just doing light stuff, not shutting the computer off and I have yet had to recharge it. I find the 16inch more comfortable to use than the 14inch on my lap because I don’t have to keep my legs closer together.
      My logic on going with the 16inch is because once I got used to the bigger iPhone Max from my previous smaller iPhone; I love it & can’t go back to the smaller iphone. I feel it’s going to be the same way with the bigger MacBook. To sum it all up; I have no regrets going with the 16inch MacBook. I love it!
      Such a huge much needed upgrade from my 13inch Mid 2013 MacBook Air that I’ve had for 10yrs.

    How would the 36gb ram vs 18 gb ram feel any difference? I did consider the 36 gb ram + bas model without upgrading anything else???

    • @HammadxHassan
      @HammadxHassan 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The extra RAM mostly helps with multi tasking, faster boot-up and shutdown times, as well as smoother program launches and task executions.

    • @productfeedback
      @productfeedback  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Even with 18GB and multi tasking, I noticed just when applying high end effects on/off very quickly it might blue ball a tad but my memory usage on stats indicates it’s fine. So I’m putting it down to other things

    • @MohamedAnouar7
      @MohamedAnouar7 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Get the 36 gb ram, softwares are becoming more demanding every year so to just future proof your machine get the upgraded version

    • @simonsol5084

      @@MohamedAnouar7 thanks. I did get the 36 gb ram since the apple silicon is sharing the memory for GPU and CPU.. storage I kept at 512 cause it is correct that you can get much cheaper options for adding these on the side.. I am so far happy with the MP Pro 36. with 11 core cpu and 14 core gpu..

    Big sale on MacBook ends today. Im coming form 2015 15 inch MBP. My dilemma is also the 14 vs 16 & MBA 15 inch m3 now @1450. 14 looks too small...im used to larger space. I have almost 256 gb to transfer so was debating on 512 or 1tb. Im not familiar with dongles or external hard drives. Any advice?

    • @productfeedback
      @productfeedback  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you’re not using an external monitor 14 can feel a bit small. But advantage is you feel like moving it around a lot more comfortably on your lap and around with you.

    • @latinreuben
      @latinreuben 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@productfeedbackAgreed. Typing at store, 14 keyboard layout feels cramped. Does it feel awkward to hold on lap since u have to keep your legs close? Btw, on Best Buy, 14 has +2000 reviews while 16 has +600.

    I've got the 14" because I travel with it daily and often carry it aound while working. Love the size and it's honestly about as big as i want a laptop to be. I've got a 24" monitor at home if I want a larger display but usually don't bother.

    I have owned the Macbook Pro 16 inch M1 since it was released. My friend switched from 14 to 16 inches after a year. In my opinion, the 16 inch is significantly better for stationary use. The larger model is only not usable when traveling on buses and planes. I also bought the M2 Macbook Air 13 inch for traveling. This is the best combination for me. If you travel a lot and need the performance, go for the 14 inch. If you travel less, 16 inches is better. The 16 inch model is also a laptop, you can often take it with you.

    • @productfeedback

      There is something strange for me here..... even if someone is traveling. Why we should use laptops on airplanes? For example, you have all the time and millions of hours in your life. What's the problem if you leave your laptop in the bag for that 2 hours? Do you know how many times you will be disrupted during the flight due to the lunch service by the cabin crew?
      I think people made the subject bigger than it's size

    • @arlencarlson
      @arlencarlson 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did the same. Have 16” M1 MBP. But found it was heavy for travel…and I generally didn’t need that power when travelling. So picked up a 13” M2 Air as well. Combine that with the fact, that I used to travel with a beefier Intel-based laptop (and my older 15.4” 2012 MBP), I wanted to shave some weight down when I do two-machine travel. Admittedly I did contemplate going to a 14” MBP…and that may be a consideration a few years down the road when I upgrade my 16” MBP to a newer model.

      That's why when my MacBook pro's fans started failing during the covid lockdown and all I could find that would meet my needs was a 16" MacBook Pro, I bought it, and in less than a year, when the 13"M1 MBP came out, I traded the 16" on the 13" and now, 3 years later, I have traded up to a 14" M3 pro MacBook Pro. I tried working on planes and on trains(I travel for my work. A LOT) and it was so difficult and annoying to try to balance the 16 inch laptop on a tray table, that I really got rid of it as soon as I could see a good upgrade path. I wanted to try the Apple Silicon(the 16 was an Intel chipped MacBook Pro) and to get a smaller, more portable, more usable(18hours battery vs 5 hours and hot operation with the Intel chip)machine. Apple Silicon is AMAZING. 14" MacBooks are the travelers dream!

      @@sangar197I agree w you.
      1. Short flights: 1-4 hours
      //Total allowed use time:
      30 min - 3,5 hours
      //Drinks 1-4 times interruption, 1x snack interruption
      2. Long flights: 5-20 hours
      //Total allowed use time:
      4,5 - 19,5 hours
      //Sleep time 1,5-8 hours
      // 1 - 3 meals, 4 - 12 drink interruptions
      Time at the airport for boarding:
      1-3 hours, work at table if available
      So overall, I’d still go with the 16 inch.

    I just ordered 14” M3Pro with 18gb and 2tb disc (really prefer to have all the work inside the mac, than on external discs, while on the go). Coming from 2019 Intel 16” version which has 32gb ram and also 2tb disc. Can’t wait to compare. 2019 was good but feels too large, while on the go, and battery got quite bad after 4 years.
