So damn funny when ethan kept laughing and grinning when Phu was miss pronounce Cassette 😂😂😂😂😂
Breh i just started coming to this place that’s literally next to my house, to get my free agent fixed. I thought Phu was just an ordinary man but I didn’t know this many ppl were watching Phu explain everything about bmx
hahaha Phu's been the man forever :)
I love seeing Ethan on your vlogs. He's a monster yet very humble.
Niice recovery time gets a call and comes back and kills it !
He’s way too natural at this
everytime my man pho said cassette Ethans ass dying over there. I was loosing my mind laughing!!! Classic.
it's losing
Free coaster opens up a whole new world of tricks I love my odyssey clutch
Odyssey kills it🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼❤❤🔥🔥
I’m thinking of getting one should i
how do you use it properly i try to adjust the slack but it doesnt seem to work no mater what way i turn the L key in the hub?
Yeah that’s cause it’s easy mode for fakies. Cassette 4 life
i just switched to a free-coaster and its a whole different game lmao
its taking more getting used to than i expected
I love it
yeah... a game that involves cheatin'
I hate the slack though, I rode my friends and I destroyed my knee and have never gotten on one since lmao
Should i get one. Easy fakies are cool, but are they $200 cool
Out of all the video I been watching, trying to figure out the difference between free coaster vs cassette. You explain it the best in Layman's terms. I just became subscriber and a fan.
I’m an old dude trying to learn about newer tech BMX. This is the very best channel to learn from. Lots of changes since my 79 Mongoose. 😀
You continue to impress me with your generosity! You the man alf.
Thanks so much Colin :)
“What miss!?” Lmao
Shit had me on the floor
rift jhon sams here lmao!!!
@Dillon Milo lmao nice fake account
Bad customer service lol didnt even attempt to upsell her
@@mysterychannel6577 that's his daughter that's why
Rode a bmx back in the 80’s-90’s when I was a kid and this cassette thing is new to me, all we rode back then was freecoasters.
Thinking of riding again, and been on the fence if I should try the cassette this time around since it is the only built bike that I see available in my area.
Thanks for the vid. 👍🏽👍🏽
I am 46 and I have rescued a BMX from going to the tip (the dump), I have no idea what any of these terms are? . But I am going learn a few tricks!
Never had so much fun... on my own... in a pair of jeans! 😉
Subscribed 💪🇬🇧
Hows the bmxing been since
@ 10:35 phu totally surprised me with open diff and welded diff, totally didn’t expect that from him. Mans know his bikes and cars🤙🏽
I learned so much .. thanks 🙏🏽.. may you be blessed
You’ve done a great job with your YT channel, Alf! It be awesome to see Phu break down frame geometry, the pros and cons, the type of riders it suits, etc. YEW!! 🤙🏽
Phu brother I think you're missing out on some possible revenue with the t-shirts.. Merch is where a lot of these dudes make money.. Just a thought..
I need to start running brakes cars hurt
They help for sure!
@@AlfredoMancuso I'm trying to find a way to put a picture of the railing I was on and what my bike looks like after I have to start all over nothing worth saving for my next bike and it was my favorite Easter frame bent up
Richard Riffle Damn! That sounds gnarly!!
@@AlfredoMancuso i have like two videos of my riding on here
Best bmx channel on the tubes... man I would kill for one of those shirts. Sweat and all hahahaha
Thanks so much David!
I like the bee buzzing
Cassette ftw 🔥
Hellya!!
Just love the buzzing sound when freewheeling 👌🔥🐝🎶
Yeah bro catching that front foot all day cause it actually stays where you left it and has pressure immediately
I started biking on a khe coaster cause a flat lander sold me a bike back I'm 2005 and switch to a cassette like 7 years later , went back to coaster but they sucked cuz they weren't as reliable. Now in 2024 I'm back on a coaster and love the new improvements and reliability
Love these episodes at the shop. The free coaster is cool. I like it. Would I use one? Probably not. I like the cassette sound. The feel. Just kinda what I know a bike to be. If I build a second bike, I’ll throw one on for sure.
Stoked you dig them!
Freecoaster GANG Wya??!
🙌🏻
Yo
Freecoaster gang!
Never turning my BMX into a scooter.
Awesome info I think I'll stick to the cassette and change it up once i progress a little more , also "bang" hook these boys up lol
Solid choice! Bang, you see it!
when i start a business I wanna hire ethan, man's can sell anything to u. im sold by his explanation of the coaster
Bought my cult gateway from epic and ethan sold it to me. Your not wrong he can sell anythibg
Very good description! I haven't riden BMX since 03' and I couldn't figure out how a guy on TH-cam was going backwards without pedaling
What about the Zcoaster by profile. Is that still being made?
Sure is!
It sucks its just a coaster w sound
Love that shop I travel up from San Diego to go there and get bike parts including cassdents 😂
MORE VIDEOS WITH THIS GUY!!!!!! Thanks a lot for all the informations.... this guy knows it all and he’s funny af 😂👍🏻
I know this is an old video but yes, there is a such thing as a titanium freewheel. Echo bikes made one for trials a few years and yes it was nice with 109 engagement points.
Thanks for the information 🙌🏼
💯💯
This shop is a must visit if you ride bmx!
Keep it up guys I was hit by a car broke both wrists and now I'm just chilling watching TH-cam
Sheesh! Be safe my dude!
Get better. I broke a wrist and my shoulder, two months ago, after going down on my enduro on the street. I feel your pain
@@srichard6237 went to my bike shop here in Indiana Mishawaka called- the house of bikes - got me the same exact frame from all the riders here went in on this frame and surprise when I got there there it was just all new and white
I just started biking 3 weeks ago when I traded my norco mountain bike for a GT bmx and I'm loving it but my knees aren't 😂 loved the chill and helpful advice 🔥
As always fu at epic the best bike shop in the world thanks Alfredo
Free coasters open up a lot more freedom but cassettes kinda give you a bit more control with pedal pressure
100% agreed
In High School of 2009, I bought a Stolen Cheater bike that came with a freecoaster. It seemed cool until randomly it would stop working and I'd chin checked myself on my handle bars because there would be no engagement. Basically It was like I would pedal forward without a hub on which ended up making me fall forward. It was weird, I guess it had to be adjusted or something but the instructions were wack. I then switched to a Shadow Conspiracy Raptor Cassette and never looked back. This was long ago but I'm old and will never use freecoasters again unless I wake up with Garrett Reynolds skills ahahaha. Great video though on the mechanics of these parts.
Good informative video. I actually have all three, cassette, freewheel & freecoaster on my bikes. I also remember Alf's Freecoaster vs. Cassette tutorials on one of his How To Tuesday videos back in the day.
Which one would you recommend for beginners? Just to learn Basic tricks. Bunny Hop is Most important and jumps down the stairs
@@all_out_of_bubble_gum they won’t affect those tricks.
Thursdays are always better at epic. Thanks again for bugging phu. Lol your channel got me to shop there. He gets so happy for food. I bet if people brought food he would prolly hook em up with something free maybe just a slap in the face but the price is right.
Hahaha he loves himself so food for sure
Love epic I wish there was an epic in Portland
I saw that this dropped literally as I was telling my friend I didn't know what i wanted
I read your mind fam
So wat did u decide on??
Personally I find pedal pressure more important than fakies but I've never been good at fakies🤦♂️❤❤❤
@@Bigrig_trmc my friend has a freecoaster so Imma try it out but for now I'm sticking to cassette
@@AlfredoMancuso every time
Very informative, I don't think there is a shop like Vu's in the entire state of Texas. I might take a trip there just to see it !
Idk bout commenting but mines is a question. I remember as a youth until mid 90's When racing we preferred the 44t chainring 16t freewheel sprocket. If I were to get a 9t cassette what chainring can I use to attain the feel of 44t :16t. gear ratio. Keep in mind I still have my. 84 db super streak so yeah I'm old but I still ride. So keep postin an teaching youngsters 2 love tha bike world.
Thanks Rick! The exact ratio for a 44:16 is literally a 22:8, right down the middle. But because the 22 tooth sprocket isn’t really used as much anymore and neither is the 8 tooth driver it goes up by 1 tooth in the rear and 3 in the front to a 25:9. If you want it to feel a bit harder to crank, which gives you my torque you could do a 25:8 or a 28:9 again any addition of a tooth in the rear requires and addition of 3 in the front sprocket to keep the ratio feeling good.
Tyvm u just saved me tons of time n wrench turning n pulling my driver arm off n on. Since I gave my 9t free coaster to my buddy hmmm.....I got a 10t cassette hub., looks like lacing wheels is n my future.....tyvm you guys n the pool of knowledge is amazing
Glad to be of service :)
omg thank you ive been wondering why i couldnt do that 🙏
I learned on coaster, it feels so much more natural to me although sometimes i’ll still throw on a cassette
which is better for wheelie?
Hey Alfredo...nice one sir...😁👍
Never thought I'd go to freecoaster but whatever reason when I would cab my opposite foot would be in front instead and that screwed me up when I came to half cab manuals
lmao had the same thing last year got a freecoaster and im prob never go back to cassette it open so much tricks for me (i ride street)
So, what young stevie does?
@@gerttremerie5562 samee
@@maricelbonto3479 not sure I'd have to watch him
I just built two different wheel sets, just swap out depending on what I feel like riding.
I remember my federal freecoaster v2.. You could adjust the slack with an Allen wrench.. When I rode BMX I was wild about freecoasters.. Now I just be in the studio bro..
Where is this shop?
Westminster, CA
"What Miss?" LMFAO
The Profile Z-Coaster is superb iv enjoyed it atleast literally a ¼ of crank rotation its ingaged and or disengaged. Rides and clicks just like the normal cassette
Hey man, what's different between the female hub and a male hub.
I mean which of these two performs well? Hope you make a video of it. Thanks a Lot!
Female bolts go into the hub, and an axle has bolts that thread onto it
Courage Adams defies those theories! Watch his riding style freecoaster or cassette it doesn't matter! Lol
Dude talks about maintenance here im still rocking my federal v3 coaster bout 6 years on dirt etc.
And yes, its still running perfect.
You must not ride as hard on your hub like some other dudes do because some of my homies need to take apart their hubs almost monthly
Alfredo Mancuso Holy moly, i cant even imagine what taking it apart monthly felt like...
Phu is so funny and helpful i like this type of videos keep it up Alfredo
phu really knows everything about bike. no doubt he really survive his business.
Funny ..I ran a freecoster in 02 and they were not cool! lol it was fun tho I thought it was slick but I didn’t like the slack but you do get use to it I think it was a haro! 👌🏾
I think I have a free coaster lol it makes no noise. This was a nice video, I wanna try Cassette now
You could have a less quiet cassette hub. Do your pedals crank back if you make the bike go in reverse?
@@AlfredoMancuso nah it doesn’t they stay in the same place!
Love this guy also to alfred...
Honestly I think I’ll just get both
This taught me alot ngl
Your welcome Alfredo...
🙏🏻🙏🏻☺️
I’ve got a 1998 Specialized Hard Rock that I’ve beaten the hell out of since it was new and my hub has never failed. Changed the sprocket a few times though. Honestly they just don’t build them like they used to.
Bet it weighs at least 30 pounds
I never heard of bang until the video....Bang hook them up!!
Is that White cult seat in the background an AK seat? If so tell Phu I need to order ASAP
Hit them up, everything’s selling out FAST
Where is the shop!!!!
Phu spreading knowledge
Always!
Ooowww they go zzzzzzz! They are more reliable simply because of less component I guess if your a freestyle rider you would really care about the weight, as for a coaster it's just a coaster brake hub with the bar that attached to the frame disconnected in theory! You guys wore uniforms to school and liked it.
I would sport and epic shirt all day every day!
helpful
Glad to hear that
What up Brochachi !, I ride free coaster for now and its cool , but I do miss the noise and originality of a casset
ethan looking at phu saying caTssette: from the outside he's like: 🙂😀😄😃 and from the inside he's like: 🤣😂🤣😂
With a freecoaster is it harder to ride like distance wise than a cassette i have 2 freecoaster and i am waiting on a chain i never rhode one so thats why im aski g
any recomedation on videos talking about the differant between bikes from the 90's and bikes today (bmx bikes)
That dude really laugh when he said 'kuh-set'
Nice vid g
Thanks G
@Alfredo...Might be a dumb question, but can you change out the teeth on a cassette..from a 9t to a 11t???
You actually can!
Epic bro!
Fuck i finally get it. there are 3 of them. Old school Freewheel. New Cassettes
🤗🤗🤗
I want that epic shirt.
Can someone tell me how is it called when you have hub that brake when you pedal backwards? Please
In Germany its called „rücktrittbremse“ 😂😅 dont know the english word though 🥶😂
@@Jukofri okey
@@Jukofri translator say this: Brake retraction
regiisek hmm okay😅 maybe its also just Called „backpedalbreak“ idk
So which one is like or similar to what's on a mtb that fully rotates backwards nonstop?
someone please explain. Do rear sprockets come with rear hubs? Or do you buy them separately? Where do you get the rear sprocket?
you should have said pt 2 sir mancuso
You’re right haha
Hey Alfredo can you do a segment on the freenight bmx hub?
Wish I could rep the epic tee out here in Maryland
I learned my first fakie on a free coaster go with the Odyssey v2 clutch all your problems are solve
I have a question for freecoaster will it miss up if you try to use it like cassette
Santa Cruz Big Ripper in the background🤘🏽
what is that Handlebar on Dirt bike? im looking something like that on my dirt.
Free coaster is amazing and i wish i could afford one.
Damn what’s up with that Santa Cruz big ripper in the back there? How much if you guys still have it😝
I found a silent free coaster at goodwill rides ok kinda strange no clicking sound....?
Ay kasta ga yammmm kabsat!!!!!
Whats your online store to order parts? I have a project e bike ur tutoring is helping me a lot... im a Auti tech but old school on bmx thanks
I'm riding downhill bikes and used to ride bmx (with cassette) like 5-6 years ago... Wanna start getting into BMX again - would you recommend getting a freecoaster as it makes tricks easier, or should I stick to cassette because my muscle memory would get confused if bunny hops and stuff feels different between my downhill and my bmx bike?
i would recommend the coaster. i ride dh and bmx and there’s no difference
So now with this explain the profile z coaster
