    I have the Apollo Go Dual Motor 2024. Iam only 140 lbs and I just tested around the Verrado Mountains neighborhoods Phoenix area. Lots of hilly streets with big inclines there. My dual motor had no problems on any incline for me. Dual Motors is the secret for me. Love this scooter!!!!!!!!!!

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Oh nice haha. Looks like lots of hills out that way. Yah the dual motors are a game changer on hills.

    Adding this info for the Ninebot Max G2 Comparison:
    Go Max G2
    Distance -15.3 miles 16.2 miles
    A. Speed- 17 mph 12.7 mph
    C. Temp - 51C 46C
    El. Gain - 1,650ft 1,850ft
    Batt % - 13% 8%
    I actually think if you made it to the final lookout, that they would have been roughly equal. The Apollo Go regen I think is the key reason why it can almost equal the G2, the downslope really helps it.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Thanks for adding that! Yah I may try this again now that I more or less have an idea of the range potential. Thinking back on it I do think it had the potential to make it. In terms of raw hill climbing power the Apollo has a strong advantage as I was riding around in comfort mode at 20mph with the option to hop into sport mode (which I didn’t).

  • @THEAVERAGEGUY1983

    Thats pretty good results, you probably could have made it to the 3rd look out but im glad you held off as no one wants to be doing to walk of shame specially in a area where there is no sidewalks or a bike lane like you mentioned. This sounds very promising for a lot of potential scooter riders looking for a dual motor affordable scooter.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Yah the other factor I had playing against me was the fam had plans at like 10am, so I had to avoid the walk of shame at all cost 🤣.

      @tomsgadgetgarage hahaha, no way! Thats exactly what happened to me when i had to split my range test on the RS, my Inlaws were coming over to visit at they called me to let me know what time they were going to be arriving lol. 😅

    That's splendid!

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Yah, it gives you the option to adjust the speed of each of the ride modes, above and beyond the default limits. Really do like this feature as 6mph in eco mode is way too slow haha.

    Great review and stress test. I'm pretty sure the Go could have gone the distance.
    Apollo honored my credit when I returned the reconditioned Air '22 model I originally ordered (damaged in transit, no fault of thiers) and applied my sale to a discount on a new Go! Just shipped today, will be here in two days. Apollo has great sales and service response. Delivery is quick, they have US inventory forwarding so it doesn't get hung in Customs.
    Duel motors at this price point as well as Lexus-class styling AND duel re-gen brakes. I can't wait to take it out and enjoy the Spring weather soon.

  • @e-scooterguy

    Great hill climb/range test. I do wonder if range would improve if you could switch to single rear motor for downhill/flat sections so maybe Apollo could consider that for V2. Also well documented how good the Segway G2 front hydraulic suspension is so again would be a great improvement for the go V2. Much of Europe and eventually the UK will have power limits of 500 watts which is so annoying in terms of buying a go as this test perfectly demonstrates the practical benefits of higher nominal power and dual motors! and the build and safety features of it are top notch addressing almost every concern anyone could have.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Thanks! Yah for single/dual, the question would be around performance with a single 350W motor. Might be good for riding around in Eco/Comfort mode at 15mph or less to extend range.
      Unfortunately, lots of regulations are made by folks who don’t have a full grasp of what they are enacting. For example, where I live, it’s illegal to use a scooter in the bike lane. But literally 100 ft across the street in the next city, it’s completely legal. Arizona has relatively lax laws around scooters but gave lots of discretion to cities/municipalities to enact their own rules, which sucks. Within a 3 mile radius I can be in three different cities, each with their own rules lol.

    really debating the GO or the G2!

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Haha yah it’s definitely tough choosing between the two. For me personally, I really like having the extra power afforded by the dual motor setup on the GO. It also has fantastic lighting for night riding, best I’ve seen on a scooter. I’m coming up on 100 miles with the GO, and so far so good.
      The G2 has better suspension, larger tires, and a lower price tag. I’ve put around 550 miles on the G2 and haven’t had any issues. Not even a flat tire haha.
      The G2 doesn’t feel as lively as the GO. The GO has excellent power and really feels dialed in. Apollo did a great job with the balance on this scooter.

    I love these hill climbing rides and is there a way to match up the acceleration of the scooters so that range comparison is more accurate? I understand that the apollo go is more powerful than many of the other scooters its being compared to, so i dont think its totally fair if one scooter uses more power because it can than another scooter which doesnt have that power. I dont expect any of these comparisons to be perfect and i like the entertainment of these videos I just want your thoughts on this

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Yah it’d be difficult to match the acceleration on these as scooters vary in nominal/peak wattage, voltage, weight, single/dual motor, etc. The best I can do is set the top speed, use middle of the road acceleration settings, and test them on the same course. But you have a valid point.

  • @Feral6-h3g

    Why did you go back down at 32%? You took the Segway ZT3 Pro to 15% and got almost to the 3rd look out. Perhaps best not to say The Apollo Go only made it to look out 2 in that other video, when it could have gone much further, it seems. Maybe I'm not seeing something. Thanks for all the reviews, I'm subscribed.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Hello! Thank you! That's a great question. Before the hill climb test, I did a full range test with the GO, which gave me an idea of how fast the last half of the battery drains. The last 26% of the battery drained in about 2.2 miles, a steep drop-off. With the ZT3 Pro, the last ~26% of the battery lasted just above 7 miles. This by itself made me hesitant to push for the last lookout point. For the downside of the hill climb, the ZT3 Pro basically maintained 15% battery for the last 4 miles, whereas the Apollo GO consistently lost power on the same remaining 4 miles or so.
      I think I mentioned it in the video, but I may re-attempt the same hill climb in the future with the GO to see if I can manage all three.

    Nice reviews, I appreciate your work! Maybe you said and I missed it. Which one do you think is the best climber: Ninebot Max g2 or the Apollo Go? When you're coming down a long hill about how much more battery life(%) does the regen brake add back, if any? Thanks again for the review, very helpful!

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      Thank you! The Apollo GO is the better hill climber for sure. As for regen and putting power back in, it depends on how much it’s used, but going down a mountain like that it can be as high as 4-5%.

    Hello, what pump do u use to inflate the tire? I tried using the hand pump come with the apollo go. It seems never pumping any air into the tire.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      So I use an electric bike pump I bought from Amazon. Here’s a link to a widely used one amzn.to/49gX1Kf (Amazon Affiliate link). Looks like it comes with the quick connect/chuck adapter which makes tire inflation way easier than using the rubber nozzle extension.
      The hand pump might be nice to have in emergencies, but will take forever to pump to 50psi. Lots of pump options on Amazon. You can also go with a bigger manual bike pump. May not be very portable but definitely beats the hand pump.

    Hey ya again! Another question, my Go has developed some play between the wheel and handle bar - causing some rattle/wobble under braking some of the time. Does yours have any play (ie can you move the wheel back and forth while the handle bar isn’t moving)?

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      I haven’t noticed any play in mine but I’ll check it out in a bit and let you know.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      So I checked and am seeing about 2-3mm of total play. This is close to the amount of play I have in my Max G2. I think it’s caused by the design of the front shock and tolerances involved. Haven’t noticed any rattle or wobble though. Will take it out for a ride and see if I notice anything.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

      So I took it out for another spin and didn't notice any wobbling or rattling at any point. The front coil spring occasionally squeaks in cold weather, but that's about it.
