    The only issue with the apollo go that made me get another scooter is it's range. Otherwise for most short trips it's my go to. I'm surprised you didn't pick the punk rider pro to be honest, because it's seems closer towards the ideal scooter for the majority of people.

      Yah range is definitely not the highlight with the GO. The Punk Rider Pro was a very close contender for me and I’ll actually be making a follow-up video on that one soon.

    Inokim OX and OXO Super - the most reliable scooters I've had. Incredible build quality, very durable and the performance is solid. Never let me down. I've owned Kaabo, Dualtron etc before.
    Will never give up on the OX.

    Man I have to agree and disagree. I have owned 5 recent scooters. On paper I think the go checks all the boxes just as you said. However, I can't get over the narrow handle bars. It makes the ride feel very squirrelly to me. The angled in bars also limit deck space which is also pretty limited, but I feel that affects the ride negatively, too. The suspension is fine but not nearly as robust as others. That's the price of the light weight, though. Personally, if you have hills, this is a great scooter in the price range. If not, I personally think the max G2 is just so much of a better feeling ride. An absolute tank

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Every time I get back on the Max G2 and feel the suspension, I’m always like, “wow, this is nice” haha. Segway really nailed it with the suspension on that scooter. The wide handlebars also add to comfort on longer rides.

      Yup yup, there are always trade offs. I’m hoping one day battery tech leapfrogs and allows for a sub 30lb scooter with full suspension that gets 30+ miles of range and 30+ mph. 30-30-30. Let’s see who gets there first.

  • @miketayse

    Nice vid, thanks for putting it together! I'm certainly considering the Apollo, I, too appreciate the portability. I would prefer 10 inch tires, mostly because availability/selection seems better than the 9 inch tires. I appreciate Apollo also because they have posted some DIY repair vids, I don't know if all the manufactures do that.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a great point as well. There are tons of 10” tires available from 3rd parties, far fewer in the 9” size.
      Yah I think repairability as well as parts availability are very important. And DIY videos help a ton as there aren’t very many places (yet) that service electric scooters.

    thanks for the video, the apollo go was a strong contender for an everyday scooter for me and my wife. i don't need or want a speed demon, the important factors to me are range, some suspension to still be capable off road and something that is not to big to be overly difficult to take 2 in my truck. i passed on this one just because of range, this would prob be fine for 90% of what i want to do but i don't want the fear of running out of range or cant go somewhere i want to. I ended up with a vmax vx4 gt, happy so far.

    The reason I did Not purchase the Apollo Go... It's 36 Volts !.. The next one needs to be 48 Volts.
    Then, I'm sure, more people would buy, (or at least consider it)

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A 48v version would be sweet 😊. That would help with voltage sag at the end of the battery.

    • @Patriot36
      @Patriot36 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes 48V, 15,000Ah, 720Wh battery would be fantastic. It would add 3-4lbs worth of cells but be totally worth it. That would land it firmly in the commuter category with weight similar to the Max G2.

      I may have to pop mine open one of these days to see how much room is under the deck. Might give us a clue as to whether we can expect a “max” version in the future with the same form factor.

  • @Patriot36
    @Patriot36 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I guessed it right, haha! I figured it wouldn't be the Cruiser V2 because you haven't had it long enough. Then I thought it's got to be the Go because it does so many things right. My only reservation was the range which made me think, he may say "it was almost the Go but due the the range limitations" might pull out out the surprise Punk Rider pro because sometimes you just gotta go the distance. The Go sure is a bitchin little scooter but the only way it could work for me would be the 'only two scooters scenario." For example I like everything I've seen about the not yet released Apollo Phantom 2.0 Stellar. It could be the case that with one of those and the Go, they could suffice for all of my scooter needs.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ha! Yah the Punk Rider Pro came really close. I ended up going with the GO because of the weight and size. The Punk Rider is also relatively small and light when you compare it to its main competitors. But yah range isn’t the greatest on the GO.
      The Apollo Phantom 2.0 Stellar looks like it’s going to be a sweet ride. I’ve been tempted by that pre-order button on multiple occasions 🤣.
      As for the EMove Cruiser V2, that thing’s range blew me away. I’m going to make a video on it tonight. I’ve been riding it around at night every couple days this last week. It’s so confidence inspiring with regards to range that it makes me feel like I can take a quick ride to Sedona on it LOL.

    The best scooters are 11 inch hyperscooters, be honest, would you rather ride this or an Inmotion RS every day? Because we all know you would rather have a hyper scooter then an apollo entry level scooter if you had to only pick one single scooter...

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So I haven’t personally tested the InMotion RS. I know it’s a glorious scooter, but it’s also a very large and heavy scooter. We regularly go on family trips around Arizona and space is tight in a five seater compact SUV with three of us and our dog, so a large scooter just isn’t practical for me as it would require folding the rear seats down. I also use the GO and other small scooters for quick trips to the grocery store or a trip to the post office. Smaller scooters are easy to wheel in with me. If I could drive a Ferrari I would haha, but it’s just not practical for me as an everyday rider.

      The Gallop is probably one of the best deals for a scooter if weight and portability aren’t a concern. That thing has loads of power. I remember taking it on that mountain road and it just muscled its way up without skipping a beat. It treats hills like flat ground haha!

    I tested the Apollo city with Tim, Tims electric in Victoria Canada. He does nice scooter/bike reviews. Sorry I don't know how to add links to his channel. He pulled out a new Apollo Go and yes it did look very very solid as did and was the city pro that I rode. The Go looked a bit small for me but the city was a very nice feel. I'm 6,2 235lb. I'm torn between the Apollo city and the punk pro which I wasn't able to test. I might wait for an updated 2025 City Pro if there will be one but damn they're expensive and the punk pro looks like much better value. I'll be in the $1500 usd range . I can't justify more than that for my scooter needs.Thanks Tom for all the honest advice. Good stuff !

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love watching the Tim’s Electric channel as well 😊. It’s always fun seeing him cruise around Victoria and tackle the hill of death haha. Such a beautiful place to cruise around. Funny thing is that I almost bought a City Pro after watching his video on it back in May/June of 2023 haha. I ended up with a Segway Ninebot Max G2 instead because it wasn’t 100% clear when the City Pro would be shipping and I was super impatient and ready to ride right now haha.
      I personally haven’t tested the City Pro 2024. I have tested the Punk Rider Pro extensively and it’s a solid scooter with more than enough power for everyday riding. The wide, swept back handlebars make it a comfortable scooter to cruise around on for longer distances. It also gets great range. The suspension does ride on the firmer side so it’s likely not as plush as the City Pro. The Punk uses drum brakes with electric brake assist. One thing I’ve noticed about this setup is that there’s an ever so slight delay from when you pull the brake lever and when the electronic brakes actually engage. It’s literally a fraction of a second, but I can feel it. I got used to it pretty quickly, but just something to call out. The scooter also makes a really loud beeping sound when you go into the app and change the settings. It beeps when going into certain menus and also when saving the changes. That beep is better than the horn on 99% of scooters 🤣.
      Other than that, it climbs hills like a champ and overall is a joy to ride. The lighting setup pretty much ensures you will 100% be visible to others on the road at night. I always have people looking over trying to figure out what I’m riding haha.

    • @Patriot36
      @Patriot36 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was watching an "Mission Apollo" stream and Eloi stated that the City likely wouldn't be updated for 2025. With that stated, I think the City is probably worth $1500-1600 and the Punk Rider Pro is probably worth $1200-1300. I have the Punk Rider but it seems the City Pro it a little bit more refined in just about every area from it's suspension, battery, and app. It's just that it's going to cost you a bit more. The Punk Rider had great lights and is a blast to ride. I couldn't pass it up for it $999 BFCM pricing.

    My 7 reasons not to own an Apollo Go.
    1) No disc brakes so hence a poor stopping distance in emergencies.
    2) extremely narrow handlebars.
    3) Underpowered for price
    4) No back sweep or upsweep on handlebars so bad ergonomics for riding.
    5) Tyre size too small
    6) Poor quality suspension for the price
    7) No room for handlebar accessories

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup, I can see that side too. For the price you can definitely get a much more powerful scooter with disc brakes, hydraulic coil spring suspension, bigger tires, wider handlebars, and more room for accessories. It all boils down to how important portability and weight are going to be.
      It kind of reminds me of those old super micro Sony Vaio computers back in the early 2000’s. They were tiny compared to everything else on the market and had decent specs given the size. Great for people on the go, not so great for power users.
