I was on my Hobie Outback (Papaya color) who tried to help you on your second big fish. I look forward to seeing you around. CDFW regulation requires you to carry a minimum 18" opening net.
@@kayakfishingcouple8866 nice to digitally meet you. Ya it’s a hand down kayak and I don’t have any spot for a net at this time as well as being on a disability budget. I definitely want to add one. I’ve been checked a few times and they never said anything, but I understand it might be different next time. I’ll probably be on the surfboard until next spring, so hopefully by then I will have made some upgrades to the kayak
Fish bonker or 22cal pistol. Great to see you're hooking up and getting the bites. What bait are ya using? We call that catch and look. Keep at it, we ALL been there. We've all lost monsters but it just makes it that much better when you get one on the grill. Great to see ya out there feeding the fish and putting in the work. It'll pay off🐟 ✌️
@@AnhMap-b6d ya I can see why they shoot the big ones in Alaska. Halibut freak out way more than rockfish when you get them out of the water. I got this on AA's lunkers choice, white with some shrimp sent. I'll definitely be using that catch and look saying 😆 after being so close to having a halibut twice now I will be extra stoked when I get one home.
@@ronyeahright9536 this is the first fish I couldn't deal with using fish grips. All the rockfish and lingcod open their mouth at the surface and I can grab them with the grips. Halibut don't seem to open their mouth the same.

The ol bounce in bounce out
You had to know that was going to happen when you grabbed the leader line!

dude, I can see not having a gaff, but how can you do that type of fishing without a net?? lol....stay safe out there.

you dont need a gaff...only a net. You are super lucky you didnt get the hook in your hand when he got off.
@@rumcoke9123 I don't know. Nets seem difficult on the kayak. If I had both a net and a gaff at the time I'm pretty sure I would have used the gaff.
Nice
quick release
Haha!
