Hi. I kayak fish around Craigleith and rarely catch anything other than mackerel. Maybe I'm fishing too shallow as I cast and retrieve. Do you let your lure drop to the bottom?

@@cboyd765 A rule of thumb used to be 50% for the kayak and fishing stuff and 50% for safety….whether that formula still stands in the current financial climate with the cost of kayaks etc i’m not so sure! but I don’t imagine it’s that far out 👍🎣
Hi Chris, I find your videos really entertaining, keep up the good work, can you please let me know what is the make and model of your dry suit and if there is noticeable difference in speed between the sturgeon fx and the supernova fx? Cheers Reidy
Hi mate, glad you’re enjoying the content. The drysuit is a Typhoon PS330 Extreme. The main difference between the the Supernova and the Sturgeon FX is size and weight. The speed difference of the pedal/flipper drive maybe slightly favours the Supernova but some prefer the flipper. The supernova is bigger, heavier and harder to car top than the sturgeon. Hope that helps.
Hi mate, thanks very much for your detailed answer, so I could basically get my dry suit based on the price difference, and not have to worry about lugging a heavy kayak on my roof, minds made up, cheers
To be honest with you Kev I really don’t think it makes that much difference but you can loads of different flavours from go outdoors. They’re called “Sticky Baits Bait Spray” It can’t be doing any harm 👍🎣
Well it turned out nice again as George Formby would say, great session, how is the pedals going compaired to the motor? Better for keeping fit I would imagine, well done anyway Chris 👍
Hi mate, I never take it for granted but I do feel very safe. I have my drysuit, pfd and my vhf as well as gps on my sounder so I feel well prepared. I also did a days self rescue course which adds to that feeling of being well prepared 👍🎣
West of the harbour is probably the easiest. You can get quite close to the free slip (have to pay for the one in the harbour) if it’s dead busy you can get in the beach near the golf course to the east 👍🎣
Ho Robbie mate, yes I do get it on and off myself. The sturgeon is much easier than the supernova for a solo load as it’s lighter. The sturgeon I just slide up two bits of drainpipe on the side…….it’s hard to explain, in fact it’s probably easier if I just send you a pic on messenger Robbie! I’ll dig one out and send it in the morning 👍🎣
I like to see them swim away Harry, and as it happens I was kipping in a van by a golf course during a heat wave that week! It stank enough as it was without adding 10lb of cod into the mix 🤣🤣🤣🎣 Tighr lines mate

Do you have a link for the blood worm spray ? I can't keep spending hours on the water with blanks 🤣😂🤣
Thanks Andy, the pedals are reasonably easy compared to paddling…but not as easy as the motor obvs! 🤣🎣
As ever a great fun video. Do you never keep and eat your fish?
Cheers mate, yeah once in a while if I’ve gut hooked one. I do like a bit of cod but I do like to see them swim away as well 👍🎣
Absolutely class mate!! Where do you buy the bloodworm spray?
Cheers Ryan, I get it from go outdoors. I’m not sure it really makes any difference but it can’t do any harm! 🎣
@@onthedropfishing ok I will check that out!! The fish are bound to smell it l.
Hi, how safe do you feel on that kayak?
Hi mate, I never take it for granted but I do feel very safe. I have my drysuit, pfd and my vhf as well as gps on my sounder so I feel well prepared. I also did a days self rescue course which adds to that feeling of being well prepared 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing cove just south of aberdeen is quite good for kayak fishing, if you get the weather right.
How do you rate the Galaxy Kayak??
I’ve had two sturgeons and they’ve both been great for me 👍
Well in! What depth were you getting them at? Thanks
They were in the shallower water close to the island. About 10-14 metres 👍🎣
Hi where do you park for fishing here
West of the harbour is probably the easiest. You can get quite close to the free slip (have to pay for the one in the harbour) if it’s dead busy you can get in the beach near the golf course to the east 👍🎣
Hi Chris. How do you transport your kayak ? Do you manage to handle it yourself getting it on and off. Any tips for doing so?
Ho Robbie mate, yes I do get it on and off myself. The sturgeon is much easier than the supernova for a solo load as it’s lighter. The sturgeon I just slide up two bits of drainpipe on the side…….it’s hard to explain, in fact it’s probably easier if I just send you a pic on messenger Robbie! I’ll dig one out and send it in the morning 👍🎣
@@onthedropfishing cheers mate just bought a stergeon fx so just trying to find best way to load it solo. Cheers
Love your videos mate 10/10 class 👍🏻
I gotta ask you why don’t you take home for the plate ???..
I like to see them swim away Harry, and as it happens I was kipping in a van by a golf course during a heat wave that week! It stank enough as it was without adding 10lb of cod into the mix 🤣🤣🤣🎣 Tighr lines mate
Hi, can I ask, do you transport your kayak on a roof rack?
I do yes, I put it on my T5 Camper 👍🎣
What did you put on your lure
It’s called Sticky Baits Bait spray, not sure if it makes much difference to be honest but it certainly can’t be doing any harm! 👍🎣
What do you edit your videos on mate?
Hi Paul, I edit in Final Cut Pro X on an M1 MacBook Pro. It never misses a beat 👍🎣
Where's your fx ?
The supernova is in the garage I took the sturgeon this time because it’s lighter and the launch here is a long drag 🎣👍
Whats your record cod?
Not that big off the kayak around 9/10lb but I’ve got plans to put that right…a trip north, very north! Watch this space! 🤣 Tight lines 🎣
@@onthedropfishing nice one!
"if there's no improvement I'm going to get fish and chips"
But you just threw a load of tasty fish back?
Other nations are laughing at us Brits!!
😄
Ha ha I was living in a camper van in a heatwave down the side of a golf course! Not the best conditions to cook cod and chips in lol 🤣
I watch all of your videos and try using the same lures etc. bought some of that stink spray…… and it leaked in my tackle box!!!! 🤢🤢🤮🤮
Oh dear! That’ll be the gift that keeps on giving! 🤣🎣
Can't stand all the silly laughing, not for me too annoying
Just turn the volume down, stick some tunes on 🤣🎣
