      @@30secondgolflessons BIt late to the party but thanks for the question. My wedging has been fantastic thank you - today I hit a (legitimate) 9 under at the Terrey Hills Par 3 - my new record. Currently off 7, I have worked very hard at following Mr Pelz's advice - reading his Short Game Bible many times (and again at present). After almost losing my left hand in a tablesaw accident just before your question (Jan '19), I've only been able to hold a club and had to relearn much of my game since around June last year. However, happily things are working for me. I look forward to looking up your channel! Where in Sydney are you? Regards - David (upper North Shore)

    First of all I think the world of Dave Pelz. I think he is brilliant.
    My home course looks like a goat farm. The bunkers and greens are awful. I would love to see a tour player try to play in less than perfect conditions and see how they handle it. I know they are all great golfers, I know that, but the courses are set up so perfectly for them that there is very little variation between venues. The weather is the only variable. A professional bowler has the same odds of playing well and they are indoor.
    Every time I see a tour event- every lie is damn near perfect, the bunkers are all the same, the greens may be a bit fast or slow that day, but they all play on perfect courses. I wonder what my score would be if I didn't have to dodge washed out bunkers made of pebbles, fire ants, tree roots, mole crickets, pine straw, tree roots, inconsistent greens, pin placements that look like they were chosen by a retarded Beagle with epilepsy, yardage markers that were made by the same Dog, etc. Even when the tour players are in the trees they have a perfect lie. It's like watching someone shoot pool. It has become boring.
    I am no tour pro but nobody is going to beat me without a fight. I would like to see the PGA allow the courses to blend in with nature a little more and stop making every lie perfect just for the sake of TV ratings. Arnie, Chi Chi, Jack, Lee, Ben, etc. played on courses like you and I do and they were great. I want to see that again. Everyone would probably just bitch though.
    Just my two cents.

      @andersborum9267 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been proven many times that tour players struggle on non PGA courses for the same reasons you're mentioning. They have the obvious advantage in distance, but greens in particular are way more unpredictable to play compared to the smooth surface greens on the tour.

    • @wreckim
      @wreckim 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just remember that most Professionals, if not all, have proven themselves on average golf courses for years through HS, College and mini tours. A top professional will not often get a horrible lie to chip from near a green because he's not usually far off, and if they do they will punch it or whatever, and they will take a bogey once in a while of course, but at the end of the day they'll score 3-4 under almost every time minimum on ANY PUBLIC COURSE in the world. The can get up and down from where the ball is under water an inch etc....they're awesome at everything.

      Paul H I agree with wreckim that tour pros will find a way to succeed anywhere and have to early in life. What I like to see from an instructor when it comes to short game is more focus on clubface to turf interactions for each shot and what the goal is.
      I grew up at a goat ranch 9 hole golf course. Would recommend using the bounce more which often means playing the slightly higher shot. Leading edge pointing down when you are playing off terrible turf puts a huge premium on contact.

      @@garrettnobles8956 This game that we have chosen is fun as hell isn't it Garrett? I love it! I'm in my mid fifties and still feel like a little kid every time I start a new round. It's the best game ever. Some shots will be great, some shots will be awful, but you keep grinding away. I love golf and I can tell you do as well. People that don't play don't understand us...and that's fine with me. Hit 'em straight and long, and may all your putts fall, my friend.

      Easier….not easy. Let's be honest, from perfect lies...not tight, not fluffy, and nice dry ground, the normal golf shot isn't much different. However, if the ground is a bit soft this shot is one scary thing....perhaps even for pros.

    No. When I hit wedges off mats I never worry about my wedge play. Mats are hugely forgiving and promote poor technique and good results.
    All that money spent on this artificial grass facility is possibly the worst investment Dave Pelz could have made in my opinion. Perhaps it's useful for the purposes of looking good hitting off these surfaces in these videos?
    Nothing on this facility is remotely like the real thing other than the bunkers and water.
    Wouldn't golf be easy if we hit off these surfaces all day long. His "other world of wedge play" is the phoney game played off these surfaces.
