there's a difference between improving an average golfer's game who maybe gets to practice and play once or twice a week and improving a pro at the top of their game.
@@DanGrieveGolf Colin is such a great guy and golfer.... but... what tips could/would you have given him / pointers that might give him maybe a tighter short game. Ie he left that first shot quite short.
Been practising your tips at home with some practice balls due to this dismal weather we're experiencing here in the UK and the difference in my ball striking with my wedges is remarkable! Thank you Dan! Hopefully can get onto a golf course asap to put it into action for real!
Collins hold your head high tip might be the best tip that I have ever had for short game. I have been trying to turn through and all the other tips to try and stop from chunking some shots but decided to go out and try this one and it worked like a charm!
Love this video, Morikawa is my favourite player to watch with his superb iron shots but loved hearing his thought process when hitting chips and bunker shots, thanks for uploading :)
Around the greens I would manufacture shots with my 58°. After watching Dan, I now use the appropriate club. It makes a huge difference in scoring.👍🏼👍🏼to Dan.
Mr.Grieve, given Colin's recent struggles with the short game, I thought you were going to assist. Frankly, he really can use your help. His Iron and diver game, now that's a different story. He's a classy young man.
What's this? Dan and Collin collab?? Couldn't click fast enough...always meaningful content. Will try a more "closed" stance in my next bunker sesh. Thanks Dan!
The reason amateurs fear bunkers is because we never face the same sand conditions twice in a row. This time there might be lots of sand, next hole there might be next to no sand, or might be nicely raked or in someone's hoofprint. On tour you've got consistent bunkers, consistent sand and immaculately raked. Sadly we amateurs don't get that.
For people who struggle to keep the face open, try the butterfly grip. You can get that club head moving into a release 3 situation but your face will never close. Might not be something the pros would use but it takes a lot of thinking out of those bunker and flop shot swings.
Gonna have to experiment with that closed stance thing. The psychology of it possibly "reminding" me to turn my chest could be of value. Had heard those guys talk of sometimes "hooking" those shots, but not the use of a closed stance.
The most recent Reference lists Collin with an 08° 56° and an 11° 60°, both by Taylormade. Dan prefers lower Bounce for tighter lies, but Delofting a Wedge by Stance and Setup also Reduces the Bounce.
Yes. What it does actually is take the slack out of your spine which can slack to around an inch. Learned that from David Lee when I worked with him back in the nineties.
I think if Colin improved his short game consistency he'd win a lot more regular tour events! Similar to Victor Hovland. That first chip said everything, that's low percentage play.
If Dan walked up to the tee dressed like that I would ask him what he wanted to play for. I think it’s the socks. I know, I know it would be a big mistake. Dan is the BEST!
Can't understand why so many players are afraid of a 60. Got taught years ago that if you get plugged in the face of a bunker play it normally but close the toe right in and when it enters the face the toe stops forcing the heel to enter later and it pops the ball out vertically, I haven't tried it with a 60 but will be this season.
Dan has saved my short game just through his videos. I was a 4 hcp got the chipping yips and totally had a bunker game collapse. It has been a disaster since then raising up to a 10 hcp. I applied Dan's foundations and releases, and in my first round I got up and down for par four times, and one sand save.
Same thing happened to me. My bunker game started collapsing right after college, then it creeped into the rest of my short game. I basically had to give up the game. The short game yips got so bad. Went from shooting 76 from the tips and being grumpy about to having trouble breaking 90. Finally took a short game lesson from a pro about 6 years ago - it did get some confidence back. Now I have some basic concepts to use. Before I had no clue .
Hi Dan. IMHO hitting 60 deg wedge everywhere all the time is not for recreational golfers. An 8i or a 9i would have been easier for the greenside chip ... wouldn't you agree?
It’s actually really interesting now that taylormade released the video with tiger and Colin how some of the stuff he is saying, it looks like he learnt from tiger
Wow thankyou brace ur knees out dont let them buckle because it changes the height ur swingin at this is a ureaka moment for me this is y im so bad in bunkers i think .
Dan, your finish 1,2,3 system changed my life! please do more videos of teaching what you think. This one looked like you wanted to teach him a thing or two but didn't say anything because he's a tour pro. Make more vids about short game, long game etc, you have an incredible ability of explaining complex things in easy terms. But this one is useless, and goes against what you teach.
Ok, just a few minutes in and already we see the difference in approach between a top pro and Joe Blow! His go-to chipping implement is a 60 degree wedge….. Dan recommends to us hackers that a 60 degree wedge is “Emergency Use Only”! A simple chip from the edge of the green is a 7 iron bump n run all day long in my book! 😂
Most Recreational Players aren't Chipping onto "13+" Speed Greens, so they usually need more "Release than Check". Keep in mind, the Putting Stroke that produces an 18 Foot Putt on a "9" Green, rolls 27 Feet on a "13.5" Green.
Are you kidding me! What a collab!
I think he just paid a fee for a set amount of time
Love it how Collin keeps hopping eagerly to see where his bunker shots end up
What a lovely guy Colin was in the video. Great tips for us normal golfers. Well done Dan 👏 Great content 👌
Dan's short game videos 💯
Dan's guests 💯
Dan's wardrobe, priceless
Didn't fancy telling Colin that 60 is for emergency only 😂😂😂
😂😂😂no no no Colin, you're doing it all wrong mate.
He has a point though, those first two were average 👀
Lol he left a 25 foot downhill chip short 12-15 feet. No one is too good to keep learning

Would have loved a “nearest the pin” with you and Colin ! He always comes across very well, nice guy.
One for the future!

Great job by the audio editor to cut out the wind noise! And of course a great conversation with Collin. Enjoyed it

I have been following Dan's guidance and the improvement is so satisfying. New clubs due tomorrow, so can't wait to try out the MG4 wedges.
I feel the pain brother weather is killing the UK golf scene atm
@@michaelbusst3451 I forgot, was it the same ish this time last year?

thank you Dan and Collin for the wealth of knowledge. So much experience between these two short game masters.

Great content Dan, changing the world for amateur golfers like us…
Gaining golf knowledge. NEEDED!!
Brilliant from both men! ⛳️🏌🏾♂️🤟
The socks - love it!😂. Great video. What a collaboration
Please, no on the socks.
kudos to you and Collin in collab, my favourite player all time❤
Nice one Dan, just received your book as a birthday present. Looking forward to digesting
Very cool. Thanks for sharing Dan.
Love it Dan!
Great video, Dan. I really enjoy all of your videos. Those Addidas socks need to be in every video, even back home in the UK.
Awesome video Dan. Engagement from Colin was incredible
Wasn’t expecting this banger!
Content really stepping up. Good on you Dan!

Great video Dan! You will get some good views on this one!! Keep up the good work your a genius of the short game 👌🙌
Wow...what a video. Thank a lot.
Great outfit Dan. Couldn’t wait to get in and advise. Listen to The OG DG young Colin.
Dan , Dan, Dan what were you thinking about with the socks ??? great content as usual and great to hear Colin's take on things
All I had !
Lol
😂😂😂@@DanGrieveGolf
@@DanGrieveGolf Colin had the same socks on but you just couldn’t see them
More of these, please!
Great video Dan and the learnings recap at the end really helped. Thank you.
Glad you can finally get out of the cold Dan! So used to seeing you in cold gear
Just love these quick instructional videos. Top work Dan.
Keeping the club open in the bunker is really hard for me
Great lesson thank you
Turn the shaft until the face is open then grip it normally

Always appreciate your content, thank you! (And Collin :-))
fantastic. I always want to be closed too. nice to hear it from an elite player.
Very good. Morikawa is a classy golfer.
Great, informative video Dan. Not so sure about the socks though..
Perfect content to wake up to.
Great video. Collin is already doing pretty much everything Dan teaches 😂
Wow! Very cool!
Brilliant video, thank you.
Using a 60 degree as standard??! He needs to read your book Dan!!
(For emergencies only!)
Pros bias to “60 degree only”. Am’s can club down & should
Danny G with a big 2024 coming! 🙌🙌
What's this? Dan and Collin collab?? Couldn't click fast enough...always meaningful content. Will try a more "closed" stance in my next bunker sesh. Thanks Dan!
I love how Dan swung more left when he got steeper in the bunker to stop the club path moving too far to the right😉
You explain it so well
Love your videos man!! So much great knowledge!!
Excellent. Doesn't like the same club choice, but all of Dan's key parameters are in his swing

Great video, Dan. The only thing missing was the 3 stripes on your cheekbones Adam Ant style.😉
Love you Dan , but sheesh , what an ensemble youre wearing ❤😂
INSANE!
Very interesting. Great video 👍
Woooahhh I’m early for Dan!!!😊
Gonna have to experiment with that closed stance thing. The psychology of it possibly "reminding" me to turn my chest could be of value. Had heard those guys talk of sometimes "hooking" those shots, but not the use of a closed stance.
Great video in fact all your videos are fantastic
“Let’s get stuck in”
Mark Crossfield wants his catchphrase back 😂😂
Very intresting!!
Dan, would you suggest to use the same bounce from soft and firm lies, like he did? Also, do you know what bounce he used there?
The most recent Reference lists Collin with an 08° 56° and an 11° 60°, both by Taylormade.
Dan prefers lower Bounce for tighter lies, but Delofting a Wedge by Stance and Setup also Reduces the Bounce.
wish it was longer!
This is gold
“Keep head high” is a great tip
Yes. What it does actually is take the slack out of your spine which can slack to around an inch. Learned that from David Lee when I worked with him back in the nineties.
Dan as regards chipping IQ, on a level lie do you calibrate the length of carry to roll with each of the chipping clubs? Sand wedge vs pitching vs 9i
Great content Dan. I guess if you’re as classy as Colin Morikawa you get to use the 60. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I think if Colin improved his short game consistency he'd win a lot more regular tour events! Similar to Victor Hovland. That first chip said everything, that's low percentage play.

Awesome collab! has the audio been pitched up slightly? It feels different to Dan's deep tones I have become used to on his instagram videos...!

Yes 100%.
Does anyone know what practice facility this is in Hawaii?
Was I the only one expecting Dan to say "now, what you could do better here Colin is..."?
I was!
Great, Im a follower!
those socks Dan! good job you didn't go with the full sock + open toe sandal combo. 😀
Videos are a little quiet Dan, but love the content!
We need to have a talk about the socks. 😅
Fantastic

Hope you got some time on the beach in the sun Dan 😜
Great collab 👏👏 Ps you couldn’t look more English in this video if you tried 😄
back at the scene of the crime. respectable for Collin to do this where we witnessed the worst short game collapse in recent memory.
I think Colin was just playing you with the 60° on a release one chip.
Collin not realising he’s inferior in short game compared to Grieve
You would still kick his ass in bunker comp.
I got rid of my 60 because of Dan 😂
Dan I love you, but I can stop looking at those socks 😂😂😂
Great that’s the idea 😉
that 60 is either bent or it’s a 64 that loft is ridiculous.
A 60 on that lie is silly. It leaves that door open for that first shot he hit.
But, he’s a pro. Probably can’t tell him anything
