Do you know what an UNDERRUN HEEL is on a HORSE'S HOOF? (Really? 🤔)

  • Most owners and professionals we speak to are not sure what an underrun heel really is!
They confuse an underrun heel with a low heel, and try to correct that by allowing the heel to grow longer.
And that’s a BIG problem for the horse.
In this lesson I’m going to discuss underrun heels, long toes, the incredible papillae (that no-one ever talks about) and why chopping off the toe interrupts vital feedback pathways and the physics of biology.
Biology is important - really important.

What is the hard sole plan . How do you find it and how do you trim to it

The hard sole plane (HSP) is when any old powder sole has been exfoliated and you are left with a hard waxy layer. 👍

Very interesting. It would be better for me in French…😉 but I think I understand the most important. So when I have a white line a little wider than it should be I let the too till the soil and make only a small roll …but my trimm lady said we have to rasp the outside of the hood that if we don’t it will come worst…I think it’s an aberration, tho wall becomes thinner and can deform more no ?

Wish I could speak better French! You always need to keep the hoof wall at the toe on the ground. If you trim to the hard sole plane you won't go wrong :)
