      @dannymiller7187 5 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      Hungry kid from Africa well that’s kinda true if you do it too fast or if you smother her with your “love”. A lot of times when thats the case you’re doing that because your subconscious realizes that the girl isn’t so much in to you and you feel a panic to get her to feel the same as you. But it’s not actual love it’s more of infatuation or an obsession with having her for yourself and not being a fool. When you actually love someone they will have to care for and love you too because love isn’t so much of a overwhelming feeling or a burst of emotion like the sun exploding it’s more like the sun rising slowly but steadily and growing brighter and brighter. I know sounds cheesy as fuck but I’ve been through a lot of relationships where we were both just infatuated with each other and those relationships are hell. Always trying to force the other one to be something they aren’t trying to make them that person your brain got infatuated and obsessed with. Just be real as fuck and don’t jump in to saying you love them because a too nice chick will pretend she loves you to or think she does when she doesn’t, a mean chick will take advantage of it. But a good girl or the right one will most likely not be in a relationship with you because you’re not ready. The high school sweat heart thing is gone out the window with the 50’s and 60’s. Girls are a wild breed but so are young people in general. But who am I to stop you go tell those girls you love them and see what happens you got to live and learn and maybe you get lucky first or second shot. Good luck to you.

    The end really stuck with me. There's something about the juxtaposition of the really serene heavenly music and warm light, with the rotting head of Charlie and the decapitated corpses that just seared itself into my mind. Everything just falls into place in that final scene and it's also very reminiscent of Rosemary's Baby. And don't even get me started on the car sequence. That is one of the most disturbing things I have seen in a very long time, and it involves nothing supernatural, no demons, no stalkers, just humanity. You just feel the absolute dread Peter feels, and the complete denial, unable to look into the back seat, just trying to convince himself that it's okay, that nothing really happened.

      It got me thinking about types of people and trauma. What would a person do if they had just killed someone like that? Well, we know hit and runs are super common. Hell, Beto O'Rourke hit someone and drove off, and he was already rich enough to dodge the consequences.
      The important thing, is that the kid didnt drive off in a panic. He deliberately buried the event as it happened, pushing his thoughts into a hole in his mind. Only someone who cares would do that, since they arent hiding the accident. They are only psychologically delaying the inevitable in preparation of the grief and hurt they caused. Maybe that's cowardice, but it sure as hell isnt evil.

      I respect the creative freedom of filmmakers.
      Most of mainstream films won't dare to even show a child getting killed on-screen (some film like John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 in the past nearly got x-rating for doing so), but Hereditary broke the taboo and proved it has nothing to hide.
      I just thought that makes this film so special.

    The most horrific moment happens offscreen. Peter drives home, shocked after Charlies' death, then walks upstairs and goes to bed. The next morning, he lays in bed and hears his parents chatting, and then the pained screams of his mother as she discovers Charlie's decapitated body still in the car. Toni Collette was phenomenal.
    My question is: will there be any sort of afterlife reward for Annie, Charlie and Ellen, who paid with their heads to bring about Paimon's return?

    • @SinSynn
      @SinSynn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +317

      If you can call burning in hell for all eternity a 'reward,' then yeah, they're absolutely gonna be rewarded.
      Unfortunately for them, grandma sold their souls to the devil without asking for their permission on the matter, so she could give Paimon what he needed - a male body to inhabit.
      Poor Charlie lost her soul so she could host Paimon while Granma set everything up with the cult.
      Then Charlie loses her head so she can be the first of the three decapitated heads Paimon needs as part of the ritual for his ascension.
      Then Annie hosts him a bit, until Peter is ready. She cuts off her own head to be number two.
      The cult dug up granma to be the final severed head, and they're all in the treehouse for the final scene, where it all comes together and Paimon is served.
      Now...well there's one of Satan's soldiers striding up and down upon the earth.
      There's no possible way for that to be a good thing, I don't think.
      The best way to deal with naked cultists in your house is with a shotgun and this movie amply demonstrates that.
      And children are clearly as prone to demonic possession as they are to contract a common cold, for crying out loud.

    Is worth noting that the seance Annie was taught is incorrectly made. She didn't learn how to prevent other spirits from joining and she never closed the seance. It means Paimon could easily join and stay with the family

    Something to go back and look for...
    after they return home from the funeral, if possible, turn up the volume and you can hear footsteps and noises coming from the attic. The family never notices this...the audience either, until now.
    Also, some great attention to detail. At the end of the movie, you can see the maggots crawling around and within Ellen's body and when the camera pans to Annie's decapitated body, you can see her fingers twitch on her right hand. It's very slight but it is very noticeable once you see it. It's pretty amazing

    Something I noticed with the imagery of this film. There was a few scenes where peters eyes were red. The first time was after he smoked weed/was in shock over the death of Charlie. Next was when Annie was in the treehouse with the red lighths from the heaters reflecting on his eyes. And the third when possessed Peter goes into the treehouse and his eyes become blood shot. Very cool details they put in this film.

    Bloody hell! This movie broke me for about a week. It all came together in a really personal way at the end when all the women of the family were decapitated in positions of worship at the feet of and the entire family torn asunder to bring forth a "king of hell". The symbolism there and the background on the fate of the father and brother paralleled the mental illness and suicide in my own family. Favorite horror movie in a long long time in that it's a masterpiece and I will NOT be watching it again anytime soon. That's Exorcist-level terror.
