      I think that’s totally fair to say. The only way that I would say it differently is if the new iPadOS software has some game changing exclusive features for the new ones with the M4 chip. But I completely agree with how things are right now

    I don’t think I will upgrade. Yes the M4 iPad Pro is more powerful, but what am I going to use the extra power and performance for if I just consume content? Yes the M4 iPad Pro is thinner and lighter, but that’s just 20 grams lighter than the 2018 model. I normally just use it inside my own home. Even if I do decide to get the M4 iPad Pro, Apple doesn’t allow you trade in your Magic Keyboard or Apple Pencil and it’s not compatible with the new M4 iPad Pro, meaning you have to spend even more money just to have a extra function row keys and a Apple Pencil which I hardly use. There’s only like 10 triple AAA games on the App Store that only works with the M chip models but those games have bad reviews. The emulation still runs well on the 2018 iPad Pro model.

      @@Graf-XTechReviews I’m interested to know what does the iPad Pro 2018 screen look compare to the iPad Pro 2024 screen look side by side, when watching TH-cam, Anime, Netflix and etc. Both with the lights on and off. Any chance you can do a test on that?

    I bought the 11 inch iPad Pro with OLED Display. I used it for 6 days indoors and outdoors in bright sunlight didn’t really notice much of a difference between the 11 and my 7 year old 10.5 inch iPad Pro. I used my $1,100 refund and bought Apple stock so I too could benefit from the suckers that purchase the new products. Just updated my 7 year old iPad Pro to 17.5.1 latest software so I guess I’m good for another 7 years.🤷‍♂️

    I just upgraded to the M4 11inch… but it’s going back. Sure, the OLED screen is great, for lots of things - nice blacks, light parts shine, and some videos and photos look amazing. BUT, two things really annoy me, to the point I find them unacceptable. Firstly, the sound is actually slightly worse than on my 2018 iPad Pro - sounds like tiny speakers inside a tin can (a bit echoey and a bit muffled)… probably because they had to squeeze the speakers into a thinner body (which nobody asked for). Secondly, as a photographer, I don’t appreciate the stupidly rounded corners to the display… apart from losing a small bit of corner real estate, a standard full-frame DSLR photo now clips at every corner as it overlaps the curve - no more clean rectangular images. This is less “pro”… no pro photographer, videographer or designer needs curved corners - it makes zero sense. It was just about okay on the previous models (pro and not pro), but this is just stupid and annoying. Lastly, the extra thinness, once in a case, is irrelevant… and the weight difference is minimal… better to have left it the same (perfectly fine) thickness and squeezed in a larger battery (I can say that I don’t seem to be getting great battery life, but can’t be sure it’s worse than before). I do not know why all the reviews I’ve read ignore the corners issue - this is supposed to be a “pro” device, and those are anything but pro - or is it just me? BTW, the Magic Keyboard is great (if stupidly expensive), but removing the tablet when you want a tablet and not a laptop is too fiddly, especially if you want to transfer it into a case for protection… better to buy a MacBook Air. The MacBook Pro makes all the right design choices for professional users… the iPad Pro does the opposite.

    • @Graf-XTechReviews
      @Graf-XTechReviews  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well it sounds like you made the right choice for yourself. I’m gonna be honest the speakers sound great to me and I can’t hear anything tinny about them, but that’s just me. I actually agree with you about the thinness. Especially for the 11”, it’s hardly any different and I’d prefer more battery. I’ve never really heard the rounded corners being an issue for anyone, but that’s very interesting thanks for letting me know. I understand why you’re seeing that as less pro for you, but I use mine professionally and I love the rounded corners. It mostly depends on what kind of professional things you want to do on this iPad. So, for you, I agree that it makes more sense to have a MacBook, although, I still think there are plenty of people who could use their iPad instead. Thank you for the very informative feedback! You brought up some really interesting points that I haven’t heard before! Very helpful!

    • @slowcatto
      @slowcatto 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@Graf-XTechReviews @Graf-XTechReviews as a photographer and designer, I prefer to see my work without a rounded frame imposed on everything in accordance with Apple's design aesthetic... it detracts from the blank canvas that creators need... Loading up standard size Raw photos from a DSLR, each image now includes clipped edges at the top and bottom where the newer more rounded corners encroach on them... The design choices are anything but pro... I would have appreciated another port, perhaps, or longer battery life... all the hype about the thickness is total nonsense.

    • @Graf-XTechReviews
      @Graf-XTechReviews  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I completely agree that the thinness is way over-hyped. I see how that makes sense for you to not have the rounded corners, thank you. And yeah better battery and more ports would have been far far better than thinness.

      I agree it is unfortunate that the old one doesn’t work with the new iPad’s however, to me it doesn’t make me feel like they don’t have longevity. Basically every new iPhone has a slightly different shape and therefore needs a new case. So I think it’s pretty cool that the same keyboard case worked with many many models of the iPad (4 models of pros, 3 models of airs) and it even still works with the newest iPad Air. But I do get what you are saying. It would’ve been better if the old one still worked.

    Everybody with an OLED screen loves referencing the content created with pure blacks in the background, but day today when do you watch content like that? Now this is coming from somebody who uses an iPad as an art tablet and pure blacks would be fantastic for more than just content. But you do have to think about the fact that you don't ever really watch anything with pure blacks in it
    2018 has lidar. 2018 has ambient color sensor for brightness and color correction. 2018 sounds better for mics

    • @Graf-XTechReviews
      @Graf-XTechReviews  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It does depend on the person as well. I have a friend that I showed the new iPad to and without showing anything “pure black” he immediately loved the new screen and could tell that it was much higher quality. But if it doesn’t make a big difference for you, then totally don’t upgrade to a new one and save some money! They are too expensive for anyone to upgrade just because, I think you have to be sure. Also, just really quick the 2018 does NOT have the LiDAR Scanner on the back or the ambient light sensor that is on the back; it does have one on the front but they serve slightly different functions. Thanks for the feedback! I hope my video helped you make a decision!

      @@Graf-XTechReviews you were comparing display technology with the point of newer being better (which I agree with) but a side by side comparison has more impact and holds up to more scrutiny if their starting points are the same aka same settings, background picture, brightness, etc. that way you can truly see the difference in performance under exact same circumstances. Any variables that impact an outcome (example - darker background equates to visually lower brightness and less contrast vs bright colorful background visually appears as higher performance and more vibrant) should be consistent across both devices so the measurement in performance increase from old to new device is accurate and not skewed by perception.

    i mean, the iPad Pro 2018 is still a top iPad, the only problem with these iPads is still iPadOS the software is still not that good to replace a laptop in my opinion it is only worth something if you want an OLED display and a bit more software support as well as better performance, I would rather go for a MacBook Pro M3 for most

    • @Graf-XTechReviews
      @Graf-XTechReviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah there are definitely still things that iPadOS can’t do. And if you’re someone that needs those MacOS features then you still need a Mac. However, I do think iPadOS continues getting better. Even in iPadOS 18 the files app received some very necessary improvements. And for what I do, the iPad allows me to not have to have a laptop. But I totally get that is not gonna work for everyone yet. Thanks for sharing!

    Hello!! Thank you I was waiting for this video I have iPad Pro 2018 and precisely I find that the image quality is exceptional on the iPad oled ´but well it’s logical, after you have to have the use to spend so much money, it would be necessary if you can make a comparison with iPad Air iPad Pro 2018 and iPad oled 2024. For me the best choice purchase remains the iPad Air in 95% of uses and cases what do you think of my argument on which iPad to choose my friend.

    • @Graf-XTechReviews
      @Graf-XTechReviews  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, I completely see what you are saying. I do think there are a lot of people you could totally be happy and use the iPad Air and it’d be perfect for them. Although, I do think right now something that makes it hard for me to recommend an iPad Air instead of an older Pro, is that it doesn’t have ProMotion where the Pros have had it for a very long time. But there are some people who can’t tell the difference and for them, I think it’s a great buy and there definitely nothing bad about the Airs.

      @@Graf-XTechReviews I have a 2018 iPad Pro and I agree with you the promotion it’s hard to do without it as soon as you’ve tasted it everything seems all fluid with this option, but I favor two things the quality of the Cali ration of the image and the fluidity, during the tasks I’m going to accomplish, but very sincerely the iPads are not powerful enough, compared to MacBook Pro where you can do a lot of stains without wasting time, 8 go ram is not enough it takes minimum 16 ram, for video editing.

    • @Graf-XTechReviews
      @Graf-XTechReviews  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I’d agree that especially for certain kinds of video editing, a MacBook Pro with more than 8 GB of RAM is going to be a lot faster. Although I would say that I think that it is definitely still doing doable for smaller projects to use an iPad with 8 GB. For example, I was able to edit one of my videos with no issues on an older M1 iPad Pro with only 8 GB of RAM. But the reason I got the 1 TB version for myself was so I can edit videos ever better, so I agree 👍 I thought I’d also let you know the next video I should be posting will be testing the nano-texture display in direct sunlight. So don’t worry, it’s still coming!

      I do love real world comparisons as well, however, I think that benchmarks are good for those who are looking for them and kind of understand what those scores mean for the devices. They are not my favorite thing either, but I do them for those who appreciate them. Thanks for your feedback!

    I have an iPad Pro 2020 11“ (works perfectly and is used daily for surfing, TH-cam, movies, TikTok, etc.) and an older 14” Acer Chromebook Flip with touch display (also works well, but is slow compared to the iPad, so it is rarely used).
    My consideration:
    A) Sell IPad Pro 2020 11“ and buy IPad Pro 2024 13” (1460€) or
    B) Keep the old iPad and get a MacBook Air 2024 (1149€ in the 8/256 or 1579€ for 16/512 variant, the 8/256 would probably be enough for me but 16/512 would be more future-proof).
    C) Budget option: buy a new, cheaper but faster Chromebook
    I'm tending to the new Ipad 13” but I don't know if it would be maybe too big for me. The advantage here would be that I travel a lot and would only have to lug around 1 device in addition to the company laptop.
    It would probably still be a good fit for me to have everything in one device, I've been using the current iPad for 3 years and have always been able to do everything with it. It would also be interesting to have something bigger than before (11“), although I really like the current 11” size, it fits in a smaller bag and can always be taken with me.
    With the other option with the MacBook Air, I'm afraid that I might regret the decision and, like the Chromebook, it's not used very often despite its speed. The fact that it doesn't have a touch/flip display makes the decision even less attractive, of course. However, I would like to try it out and maybe it would be a useful addition to the old iPad, which will probably work well for a few more years. I have a Bluetooth keyboard on my iPad, but I rarely use it because I always have to pick it up and it's too complicated. The MacBook would certainly be more compact.
    What do you think? It's really not easy.

    • @Graf-XTechReviews
      @Graf-XTechReviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ok, this is my best recommendation. I’d go with option A. Whether or not it is the 11” or 13”, I think it would be good to go with the iPad. This why it gives you the option down the road to get a keyboard case if you really want that and want something more compact then the external Bluetooth keyboard. I think the next best is to go with the MacBook Air. But personally option A is what I’d say is the best out of those 3.
