- In the series' pilot episode, cousins Bo and Luke Duke intercept Hazzard County Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane's illegal shipment of slot machines, then plan to use the proceeds to donate to the Hazzard County Orphanage in Rosco's name, to ensure his win in an upcoming election against a corrupt opponent.
The Dukes of Hazzard is an American action-comedy television series that was aired on CBS from January 26, 1979 to February 8, 1985. The show aired for 147 episodes spanning seven seasons. It was consistently among the top-rated television series in the late 1970s (at one point, ranking second only to Dallas, which immediately followed the show on CBS's Friday night schedule). The show is about two young male cousins, Bo and Luke Duke, who live in rural Georgia and are on probation for moonshine-running. The young men and their friends and their female cousin Daisy Duke, and other family (such as patriarch Uncle Jesse), have various escapades as they evade the corrupt county commissioner Boss Hogg and law officer Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane. The young men drive a customized 1969 Dodge Charger nicknamed the General Lee, which became a symbol of the show.
The series was inspired by the 1975 film Moonrunners, about a bootlegger family which was also created by Gy Waldron and had many identical or similar character names and concepts. The show was the basis for a film of the same title in 2005.
Omg...this show brings you back to another time for sure...as a kid I loved watching this show every Friday night in the 80s...best decade ever!!!!

Uncle Jesse was 1 of the Coolest guys I ever had the pleasure of meeting, It was in Little Field Texas At Willie Nelson's Birthday and Waylon Jennings was There playing on the stage . I love This COUNTY.

This would be the perfect show for ME TV, Why in the world is this show not played on TV anymore they say it is somehow offensive, yet I don't know a single person who was ever offended by it What exactly about it is offensive they say it's the confederate flag on the car but that's just stupid it's a mistake to forget about your history besides the premise of the show is poor people fighting the system that's the same premise of half of all rap songs that are sung by the very people who are supposed to be offended by the show; also it's good to show the southern side of the picture it might get some people to actually research the war and find it wasn't about slavery at all it's Yankee propaganda that half the entire north voted for lincoln because he promised to abolish slavery and all the south voted against him because they're all bigots, in reality, slavery ended because it was outdated and not economicly viable it took all the menial jobs away from the poor, lincoln didn't even mention slavery until Gettysburg and Southerners are usually good people no matter what your race is it really so bad to say in a show they are good?
@Therightone857I know I don't need to defend it to sane people I really was just commenting on how such a disturbing number of people aren't sane they actually got this show taken off all of television, how. it's still not shown even on channels it would be perfect for such as me TV, they still refuse to show or even acknowledge it's existence instead opting for inferior shows like MASH and Dragnet.
@Therightone857Yeah it used to be on the classic TV show channel tvland here in the US but it got taken off because some insane people complained it was somehow racist.
@Therightone857Great point you obviously know a thing or two about psychology, only someone with a deep-set racist, and who secretly feels guilty about it would ever even think to project their racism onto a show as wholesome as this.
