Saw this episode when I was a kid, around 6 yrs old. I remember crying to my mom "KITT IS DEAD". She held me and comforted me. I know she was probably silently laughing inside. So just imagine how i felt about Goliath.

...and while BA was rebuilding KITT, Hannibal, Face, and Michael would have stood back amazed watching KITT, Bonnie, and Murdock chat to each other about theories and concepts to add to to KITT. Bonnie created Super Pursuit Mode, and Murdock used flight technology for the pursuit mode braking system.
Course it would have added weapon systems like a missile launcher.

This scene (and Optimus Prime death) scarred me as kid lol - You just truly never thought anything could happen to KITT he always seemed so indestructible.
How about the episode where the Transformers go to the Autobot tombs and revive Optimus? That one really bothered me. Optimus was my hero back in the 80s and I was traumatized after watching that!

As a kid, Knight Rider was the highlight of TV viewing. As an adult, it looks so corny now lol. What a pity we grow up and most of us lose our inner child.

Maybe the Steven Spielberg influence. The semi truck (Peterbilt) in Duel also roared but at the end of the film when it met its demise after trying chase David Mann in his Plymouth valiant This being the opposite to KITT's automotive enemies (KARR being the exception. He never roared,)

Seeing the semi scene in this episode, makes me love the technology of the Foundation, especially seeing the microscope. It also makes me think that no one knows the Foundation’s technology, because no one knows about KITT until later on.

My son absolutely loved this show. He actually had the opportunity to sit in the real KITT and he had a Knight Rider pedal car that spoke and had a working scanner. Wish we/he had it today it would be worth a lot of money. Just great memories!
How did the Juggernaut hit all those angles so fast? Front, side, other side. Amazing!
I like how the machines roar like a Dinosaur to add to the suspense. They did the same thing with the Goliath truck. HA HA. Good ole 80s

They used the same roar in a deleted scene of the 1974 film Earthquake. It was the airport scene during the quake where the pilot and co-pilots were getting the landing passenger plane back up to speed so as to take off again.
This brings me to tears, even after 35 years. It's like your favorite soccer team loses the game.

The most unrealistic aspect of this entire show is how they drove K.I.T.T. into a semi trailer and was then able to have 6+ feet of room all around him to work on him

Many have stated this, but my jaw dropped as a kid when this episode aired. And then when they put him back together, I thought KITT was no longer going to have his MBS. And then we flash to the next episode where KITT has to open his T-top and get his seats shot up. Very traumatizing for a young Knight Rider fan.
And on a personal note, I just completed a customized season 2 KITT model and getting ready to complete KARR. Yes I am a Knight Rider junky for life!

On a side note, I love how the Juggernaut literally roared (4:42) as it drove away in victory.

K.I.T.T. was definitely the greatest fictional car of all time. Even greater than Marty McFly's DeLorean. My 7th grade classmate actually thought KITT was "alive", hahaha!
And Patricia McPherson was SO HOT!!!! I just couldn't get how Michael could be around her so much without constantly fantasizing about her!

This was the first time I was genuinely afraid and upset when I saw K.I.T.T. get decimated like this. The Goliath episode never convinced me he was done, nor did Knight of The Drones, because on both occasions K.I.T.T came around and was able to respond. I hadn't actually seen Junkyard Dog before this episode either, I'd missed it for some reason.
The thing is, I didn't realise that was actually a chemical spray set up that took place before hand, just thought K.I.T.T. got residually sprayed and fell for it just like they did.
When that Juggernaught hit K.I.T.T. and you saw the Brake light panel break off like that in one hit, it was literally a HS moment. It was like seeing Superman take that first punch from Doomsday.
Was absolutely distraught by the end of this episode, as it was a double episode aired on two separate nights, so at first I thought that was it, the series was gonna end on that note.
Both Michael AND K.I.T.T. look like they'd both been murdered.
Edge of the seat TV, they don't make them like this anymore, not even close.

It was heart wrenching to see KITT get battered like that but I always felt that when KITT got dropped in acid in "Junkyard Dog" was worse because then he was totally destroyed and when Bonnie said, "he's gone, its not question of rebuilding him, its a question of re-creating him", to me that suggested that the original KITT no longer existed and what came out of the foundation repair facility was just a copy. It was KITT and at the same time, it wasn't.
No...no no...mom was cutting onions in the kitchen I remember distinctly....

@@michaelhamilton6553 Same! In my mind it was simply a recreation of KITT and not the same one prior to his acid bath. To me, all those memories and bonding with Michael on previous adventures were gone. As a little kid, I bawled at the thought of it.
One of the best thing about this show and 80's shows or movies, was the background music. U definitely know something's about to go down.
It's a testament to the show that decades later, I still wanted the clip to continue to see the rest of the episode..

This was clearly one of those instances where Michael got ahead of himself and didn't think retreating was the best option. Just like he didn't take KITT's advice to withdraw in "Goliath".

That vehicle is the "Scrambler" vehicle from the movie "Spacehunter - Adventures In The Forbidden Zone".
Imagine Kitt and Airwolf working together as a team.
The villains of the STORY would've been either captured or destroyed if that EVER HAPPENED, especially with Airwolf in the fray okay @adrianfisher3349.
I just found the complete series on DVD for 15 bucks. What the Hell, this is one of the few episodes that makes it worth it.

I absolutely love this series to this day. The 1980's were the best. Not sure what it is, but I hold the episodes where KITT gets trashed but rebuilt again, as my favorite episodes. If you hadn't guessed already, there's no accident why my TH-cam handle has "Knight" in it.
They even got the ‘Duel’ lorry going over the cliff roar in there too! Good times 😆

One of the best KR cliffhangers in the 4 seasons of the show. I remember when I first saw this as a kid & it may have been in the TV guide (for you young kids we didn't have cable & had a magazine in the mail with the TV lineups for the week) showing K.I.T.T. in SPM under a vehicle cover.

OMG, this was the very last episode I saw. I was like 8 or 9 then. After school at 5, Knight Rider was on . I didn't miss a day. But after this episode it said " to be continued" but, it never did for some reason. Nice to see this again

Why didn't KITT sense right at the moment that what was being sprayed on him wasn't plain water?

It’s a dumb show
Why would he?
They would need: (1) a sensor that was set up to detect that, and (2) a reason to be suspicious enough to turn that sensor on.
It's not as if KITT would feel something wrong - his exterior shell is probably non-conductive material. Think of it like an exoskeleton or shell - no nerves directly connected.

Of course, now that I've said that, someone will find an episode where KITT is being dipped in lava or acid or something and is yelling "Michael! It BURNS! I'm burning!!!"

I don't know why they went with a Mustang; doesn't that front grill make it extremely vulnerable and such a big target? I felt like the 82 Pontiac Firebird had less of an exposed vulnerability from the front.

I remember “doubles” being the thing to do in various shows back then. Didn’t Dallas do it? I was 6 so I don’t quite remember.
I think the best episode with him was when he got arrested somewhere and had to run away from prison doing some commando stuff and even jumping a stolen car over a wall. Pity they didn't do more episodes like that, when Devon was the guy in heat of action.
Of all the times KITT got destroyed...this hands down was the most brutal and destructive of the 4.
No the time he sunk in acid was way worst then this. Had to bring back the og team.

@@rickyjackson197 well Devon said he did not know the full formula unless he gave them only half to save Micheal see he did not want KITT fully distoyed so if I'm right he only gave half of it.
@@JustinMacri007, that's not the real Devon. There is a scene where the real Devon is given a truth drug, and a scientist says that she only needs to know the chemical base of the MBS, to develop a neutralizer.

This show was ahead of its time.
The part where Michael is out of it, and Bonnie finds him and KITT is an emotional gut punch. Michael talking to KITT, so out of it he's unaware that KITT isn't responding. And then Michael's slow realization that something is wrong and begins to panic, ask KITT to talk to him. If that doesn't bring a tear to your eye, I don't know what else would.
KITT in the tar pit did it for me. Cried my eyes out.
That destabilizing agent does exactly what it says on the tin.

Yes, I noticed the driver side of the car didn't seem to get much damage apart from the juggernaut taking out KITT's rear light that side. Plus if you look closely, you'll notice the left wing mirror is still intact, while the juggernaut broke the right one off.

I heal still got effed up and injured though. Every time the enemy rammed his car, Michael would making jolting jerking movements and yell

Love how KITT's roof is all dented after being wrecked by the juggernaut when the T-tops are meant to be glass that should've shattered. Obviously this was cuz the car they smashed up had a hardtop roof instead of an actual T-top roof.
Yep, and the car that got smashed was one of the cars that was in the 1983 train derailment.
And the fibreglass front nose folded really well too.
@@FirstDan2000- The noses they used on the KITT cars were made of rubber. They were designed by George Barris. But yes, the nose did fold rather well. The normal plastic GM Bumper covers would have shattered to pieces the second the Juggernaut hit the front end.

@@big_t6471 not sure about that (the production purchased some brand new cars for season 4, presumably they ran out of “trainwreck cars”), but we do know this particular hardtop car only made one appearance in the entire show: in this scene only. It was specifically brought in to get destroyed ;)

The scene of the dude spraying and them talking was obviously done separately and with no scene continuity. Love it!
The raming rod went through the car twice and Micheal was untouched.
No, but the effect of being ragdolled inside of a vehicle that's getting penetrated by an armored vehicle with a phallic ramrod (due to not wearing a seatbelt) is enough to cause plenty of physical damage to one's anatomy.
It did touch him. The rod just had a smooth entry and exit point

One of my favorite episodes
I remember where he had a standoff with his evil twin who was driving a lorry. The only way you could tell them apart was the cardboard moustache on the baddie.
The evil twin is named Garth. The truck was named Goliath. And it had missile launchers and knockout gas spray. And it was also sprayed with the Molecular Bondrd Shell formula for indestructability.
I was 7 yrs old when this episode aired, it broke me like nothing else :(
I like how they spray the chemical water on the drivers side of KITT, but it doesn't really touch the Passenger side of him, & yet that is the side that gets destroyed the most.
We can hand wave that with *science!*. Just treat the molecular shell like a prince ruperts drop. Incredibly strong but one area breaks and the entire crystalline structure snaps.

No. If anything, seeing KITT go down annually is always heart wrenching. Although most people will see him as a car, fans of the show consider him a friend, from childhood until now. Somethings just never go away. Even nostalgia.

Hey, that’s the “Scrambler” from… I think it was “Starhunter: adventures in the forbidden zone”(?). Not exactly sure, I remember it had the same release marketing as a big budget and A-movie but it was definitely at best a B-movie maybe even a C-movie. It had Molly Ringwald as the plucky sidekick and Michael Ironsides as the bad guy. Definitely a Star Wars rip off as the lead guy was a Han Solo type and he had a Frenemy who is a black guy definitely Lando Calrissian looking.
Need to watch this episode in full now.....loved Knight Rider back in the day as a kid. Hope the reboot is as good as the original series, retcon the last reboot!!
