You suggest that Mbeki said “Idi Amin was a wise man.” I listened to this talk live at his birthday celebration, I have re-listened here again. At no point did Mbeki say General Amin was a wise man. He did not even intimate that. You either missed the joke or are distorting for clicks.

I will not be supporting any propagandist outlet like this one , using african leaders for views in the light that you censor comments and support white supremacy by publishing comments that are extremely insulting to africans. this is nothing but an outlet bought out by the kakistocrats of this world inserting the word "african " to further a (hidden) agenda .

Idi Amin was also a sociopath who murdered innocent people left-right-and-centre. Saying Idi Amin is a "wise man" is like saying Hitler was wise just because he said one thing that happened to be true. I like Thabo but he completely puts his foot in it, with that gaffe. I am Kenyan. I lived in South Africa for 8 years, I basically grew up there.
But there is one major thing that hurts me to the core, South Africans hate fellow African immigrants than whites who oppressed them for around 300 years and the apartheid regime of 46 where a black man was the perfect allegory of shit.
I was beaten, bullied and harassed by my fellow black students and they always use to chant the famous south African song of " kigwara gwara kinuga kisuga kinuga eeeh" which loosely translates to LEAVE LEAVE YOU FOREIGNERS YOU STINK
During the apartheid regime when South Africa was crippled by chains of discrimination the rest of Africa cried with them, they were aided by The Congo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda but after their independence their leaders turned them against us.
Most African immigrants in South go there to find solace and safety but arrive only to find peril and doom awaiting them.
South Africans need to wake up and change because reciprocity of bad deeds is paid here on earth,
    KARMA IS A BITCH!!!

We love African brothers and sisters... We just happen to be in an unfortunate situation that we continue to be marginalized even under the ANC government which makes it hard for us to find solace and peace in our own country.
My suggestion would be, every citizen of African countries must actively participate in betterment of each country so that we will all move around each others countries to explore endless pool of opportunities... We should do away with parasitic and selfish behaviour.
If you come to South Africa for opportunities, I must also be able to move to your country an enjoy same opportunities

THIS IS A STRAIGHT SIMPLE MESSAGE TO ALL AFRICAN CITIZENS: Stop being naive and unnecessarily unreasonable. Read this message carefully to help assess your own attitude.
Every post independent African country will HAVE to go through a cycle of tearing itself apart through internal conflict be it tribal, economic, religious, political or otherwise. When that cycle roller-coaster comes to your own country (door step), you will wish your fellow African neighbors were your friends. Inevitably that's where you will pin your hopes of survival. To offer you the basic fundamentals of life for you to carry on. Be it psychological ,moral, financial, health and other material support for you to survive. Unfortunately if you were hostile to these neighbours either as immigrants to your country or scuffled across borders, then the only choice you will have, is to endure your demolition within your burning country. Some shallow minds believe that it was the fault of the people of those countries. Yes indeed true as it may be but you will also go through those mistakes inevitably. It's human nature.
If your own country has not gone through this cycle don't worry it's coming. It's like amstel beer it brews slowly. I can assure you it's coming. However intelligent citizens do smell the tell-tale signs of the on coming storm and usually years before. And unfortunately no body does anything about thwarting it despite everyone knowing because there's also always an accompanying atmosphere of fear in the general population.
This i say so that you guys ,whoever you are and from whichever country in Africa you come from, you be aware and watch how you treat each other across your national borders.
For you African country's citizens who love your fellow Africans from other African countries such as Rwanda,Zambia and Uganda who welcome fellow desperate Africans in need,GOD BLESS YOU . PEACE BE UPON YOU FOR GENERATIONS AND HAVE EVER INCREASING PROSPERITY and continue to :
LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. So the holly book says.
"What goes around must surely come around "
is a formidable rule of nature and always unstoppable . So guys whoever your, think before you terrorize your neighbors when they desperately flee to yourcountries because to be frank with you the reverse will face you sooner than you think. African history has shown this to be the case and inescapable. In African countries, the TOXIC COMBUSTIBLE FUEL (corruption, nepotism, chronism, poverty, hunger, homelessness, collapsing infrastructure and institutions, lawlessness, cover up and crime) is ever present and in abundance.
      (Sounds familiar?)
And ALL you need is a matchstick or a spark to ignite it and set off an explosion of un imaginable proportions.
Unfortunately this FUEL is very much available everywhere in Africa.
Question to you then is; do you see this FUEL in your country?
If the answer is yes I thank you and request you to be careful.
If the answer is no; you may be right depending where you are but chances are high that you are either in DENIAL , DON'T KNOW,DON'T CARE or simply buried your head in the SAND like an ostrich.
HATRED FOR YOUR FELLOW FOLKS WILL NEVER MAKE YOU ANY STRONGER IF ANYTHING IT'S A SIGN OF WEAKNESS.
My input and advice to those who care to reason and do good.

Many years have past and Idi Amin is dead, but on reflection, he was a true son of Africa committed to the complete economic, social and political liberation of Africa. He was initially mislead by the British and misunderstood by some Ugandans. He meant well for the economic emancipation of ordinary Ugandans. Today, Ugandans own their land, livestock and national economy. It is one of the few countries in Africa, where the economy is owned and run by indigenous persons. Go there and you will see for yourself. If you are a Foreign Investor, you can only partner with them, on their own terms. Idi Amin put the economy into the hands of Ugandans, to the displeasure of Africa's colonial masters. And, Amin, could not understand, what wrong he had done! He lacked political administration and then collided with the politicians. Amin never killed ordinary Ugandans who went about their normal legal duties and businesses. He was hard on criminals, political gimmicks and agents of imperialism. He was committed to the complete liberation of Africa all the way to CapeTown South Africa including Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde. Yes, in the process he made some mistakes and we all make mistakes. He may be forgiven. He was an ordinary intelligent person who was misunderstood. May the Almighty God forgive him and rest his soul in eternal peace.

Having said I have not a shredd of bitterness towards no one blk or white ,as they say: Is just politics! Capitalism will never allow this, and this is the foundation of a decent society.

Am a Ugandan who left that country at a tender age of 21. Most of my peers have perished still living meaningless lives in foreign lands. Am now 64. Left every thing behind in a haste but my life. Never able to return. Running away hidding in swamps, bushes crossing rivers on foot with Amins' carnivorous blood thirsty military in pursuit. Lost hundreds of relatives, friends, colleagues in a slaughtering ( merciless killing)rampage (hanging, summarily firing squads, executions, body dismembering, roasting ,imprisonment and torture etc). Just as example Mr Batalingaya Basil the former minister of home affairs was tied with a metal chain to the rear of the army jeep drove him over a tar road from his house to Kampala a distance of about 150 kms. By the time they reached Kampala only a few toes, fingers, some intestines and some rags of skin were the only body parts left of his body. Up to now no body knows where those few pieces of his body were thrown. In other words there was no such thing as burial for thousands who perished through such animalish behaviour atrocities. And a man i have always regarded as intelligent writes or gives a talk about how idi amin was a wise man!!!!! I can't imagine that this is you Mr Mbeki!! In the eyes and ears of Ugandan mass victims there is no even an iota of justification to utter such talk as AMIN BEING A WISE MAN. You just needed to have experienced the utter deliberate rampant HUMAN DESTRUCTION that country was subjected to. Honestly i just hope that this your shambolic talk was a comedy and a stupid one at that. But if you indeed, complimented this once known to the world as the BUTCHER of Uganda, then i shudder . 1st i will not be surprised having listened to some of his speeches most of which don't add up,bizarre, incoherent and meaningless all i will say is "Mr Mbeki" i pity you a man at your age for your disgraceful behavior of DELIBERATELY DESECRATING THE SOULS OF OUR PEOPLE THAT PERISHED UNDER THE CANNIBALISTIC RULE BY YOUR WISEMAN. THIS IS THE KIND OF THOUGHT FRAME FOR A MAN WHO URGUED THAT HIV CANNOT CAUSE AIDS as his own people perished from the disease. You need prayer and redemption. So sad, shocking and very anoying!! The problem is that every one is entitled to their own opinion about any issue. For fellow Ugandans including slaughtered Janan Luwum Uganda's Archbishops' relatives and his friends,Ugandas' chief justice, university vice chancellor, former military and security leaders ,ambassadors, local, district, provincial, institutions leaders and many countless thousands (a total of 1 million Ugandans killed in 8 years of the cannibals' rule) who suffered at the hands of this monster's brutality, please take heart and be courageous to FORGIVE Mr. Mbeki. A politically troubled man looking elsewhere to regain his long lost glory. Clinging on the fringes of politics. As you can all see,it remains an undisputable fact that Africa has a long way to move into useful political civilization, especially if cold hearted leaders like this one exist and more are still to emerge. God bless Uganda and restore it to its former glory from which it was prematurely ,savagely and brutally removed by Mr Thabo Mbekis' WISEMAN. It's shocking to all Ugandans who endured 8 years of this monster's iinsanity to hear a man once regarded as a beacon of Africas' political hope evangelising such a painful message about other humans en mass suffering of un imaginable proportions. At this stage i feel like reminding him of his own past political persecution and whether he wouldn't feel pain if other shallow minded so called writers or speakers would term his own PREVIOUS PERSECUTORS ( those he calls Apartheid leaders) were to be referred to as "WISEMEN". Or is it DELIBERATE POLITICAL AMNESIA. Cry the beloved continent of Mr Mbekis' wise men. Mr Mbeki you have caused much pain to Ugandans with your subject. You have stepped on our major pain NERVE.You have poured salt in our injuries. Our God will judge you Mr Thabo Mbeki on our behalf.

Did you know Idi Amin died a painful death in Saudi. It turns out one of the ICU Nurses was an Indian Ugandan whose family was chased out. When she found who she was helping she had to swallow her pain and grief and help stabilise him.
In the end he was too ill to survive.
You can read her story on line.
Thank you for your touching account of what happened to you. 🙏🏼
