      Mr. Shaikh5521,
This 1998 Toyota Corolla does not have a timing belt it has a timing chain.

      Mr. Head,
No, backfire from a car with needing a tune-up with no exhaust system! By the way wonderful content on your channel. Keep on doing what you do! Have an Ablecraft day

What if you don't have a torque wrench does it matter?

    • @ablecraft842

      Mr. Broyles,
The technically correct answer is that it does matter. Reason being that a torque wrench tightens nuts and bolts to a set torque value.
However, if you don't have a torque wrench when tightening a nut, bolt or in this case spark plugs.
The rule of thumb is to tighten spark plug until it is snug, which means stop right when you feel the spark plug not making a rotation. Then tighten the spark plug a 1/2 turn, then stop. This will crush the washer on the spark plug. Then tighten a 1/4 turn to fully mate the spark plug to the head.
      Have an Ablecraft day!

    should the motor be cold?

    • @ablecraft842

      Mr. Moffitt,
Yes, ideally the engine needs to be cold when replacing sparkplugs. The main reason being when you torque the spark plugs to a dissimilar metal in the aluminum head "metal" has already contracted.
If you want to take an additional step putting anti seize on the spark plug threads may assist in spark plug removal when it's time to replace spark plugs at the next service interval.
      Thanks for your contribution.
      Have an Ablecraft Day!

Using Champion rather than Denso is a mistake... use what the manufacturer does ... NGK.

Start the spark plug by hand first? Or just spin your ratchet around? I think we all know the answer to that one

I’m a Toyota mechanic and my two brothers are Toyota mechanics, you should never use any other plug than denso oem spark plugs , you’re just asking for problems especially if you used crappy champion plugs
