Day just doesn’t have it man. This is bad and disappointing
JJ has grown throughout the season. He’s limited his reckless throws and made good decisions extending drives w first down runs. Kyle has depended heavily on Marvin Harrison, has not limited his bad throws and does not extend plays. Simple as that. Everywhere else on the field is starting to get pretty equal. Both defenses are bend don’t break w play makers but Michigan is more disciplined and doesn’t make many mistakes.
The changing Styles to Safety was exploited repeatedly by Michigan. His angles on some plays reminded me of Procter vs Clemson.
He and Tommy horrible today! No aggression on both sides of the ball
When I hear a buckeye beat writer say “more competitive than last year” as a good take away…you know things are bad.
Things are pathetic! 😥👎🏾🤮
How many of these players will be bailing on the Whogivesashitbowl? Will they even have enough to field a team?
OSU desperately needs a dual threat QB to stretch the field and stress defenses… It opens up the run game, which in turn opens up the pass game - This is the direct reason why Urban’s offenses were so lethal. I would not be surprised if Lincoln Kleinholz unseats Kyle McChord next year because he’s a dual threat QB who can spin the FB.
He better, because this is crap!
Spin or Spiral the football?
You saying he throws wobbly?
No one said Ohio State didn't play a hard game. They had to,what do you expect. Problem is they were playing a better more physical team and Day was out coached!!
💯
Ohio States Off and Def lines are good but not great.. and UM's were a little stronger. OSU all season lacked the TO's on Defense and stopping the run.. always gave up 3-5 yards a play on most.
More physical my butt! Get a brain
Being a Michigan fan I will not be sad to see MHJ leave. That guy is a beast!!
Wish we could have given him a ring or two before heading to the league. And Wish we would have thrown him the ball a few more times today
MHJ top 5 player on the planet. Although huge shout out to Will Johnson who had the task to cover him and did great! Go Blue!
@@ianw.91852 of those targets --> picked
The moment the ball crosses the plane of the goalline. It is a score and the play ends. That was a clear touchdown. No questions about it.
Agreed playcalling was too conservative
The McCord defense is wild. No, it’s not entirety his fault. But Day quite literally has his pick of whoever he wants at QB every year and we picked a guy who is mistake proned, a statue, and underwhelmingly inaccurate when he had the best WR on the planet. If he’s back next year, Ohio state is going to lose the fan base.
You know where you won’t find McCord, in the NFL.
I think Day picked Ewers, but unforutnately, Ewers had a hidden agenda.
@@b.douglas2753he honestly should've let Ewers play. We'd probably have won the natty this year.
I 100% agree. Ohio State has brand power and money to go get a QB in the portal and we didn’t. That’s on Ryan.
@@nbafan784 over CJ Stroud?
Great coverage by your whole team at THE Podcast this year. VERY much appreciate your work. On to the off season shenanigans and recruiting (assuming no playoffs and a meaningless bowl game)
Thanks for the coverage go bucks
Marvin said that he was bracketed most of the game and that he does not remember being covered like that. So that being said, you will have a hard time convincing me that if Marvin is bracketed that either EBUKA, FLEMING or STOVER is wide open. Why not go to a 4 WIDE SET and put pressure on the defense. There are plenty of schemes that could be run to put pressure on the defense, cmon man
It doesn’t matter if number 6 can’t put the ball where it needs to go.
Roman Wilson made the catch and immediately broke the plane for the score. The Ohio kid can have the ball after that if he wants, don’t matter. Roman Wilson TD already. The little Ohio player can play with his balls after the fact all he want. It was a score already.
Exactly don’t understand why the confusion?
Facts!! Ohio always make excuses. GO BLUE💙💛
It's not losing to Michigan, it's losing the B1G and Natty. That is what really hurts. Next year the Game and B1G won't matter it will be about being top 12 to CFP.
Interception is one of the key Buckeyes lost to Wolverines.
The keys to this loss:
McCord throws an awful INT and gift wraps Michigan a possession inside the 10. Probably the difference in the game, without that OSU likely wins.
Day’s playcalling and overall feel of the game. Don’t understand settling for a 50 yard field goal when you had 30 seconds and a timeout. 50 yarders aren’t even gimmes for NFL kickers. Several 3rd and longs where the ball is being thrown well short of the line to gain, why aren’t we running to the sticks?
Special teams are bad. Parker Fleming has to be fired. We can’t punt the ball effectively, we make mistakes, and can’t make field goals when we need to. And our returners never seem to know when they should and shouldn’t make a fair catch.
Overall I was impressed with the defense but Tommy was clearly struggling out there. He couldn’t move and he had one arm and missed a ton of tackles. But when we needed the defense the most they couldn’t get a stop until 1 minute left.
I don’t want Day fired just yet but he’s gotta do something about playcalling and understanding the feel of a game. He’s likes to puff his chest about being aggressive and letting it rip but I think we’ve seen that version of him like 3 or 4 times in 5 years. The rest of the time he coaches scared and you can’t do that in big games.
This game was there for the taking and OSU never took it. Michigan was aggressive when they needed to be and it worked for them. Michigan played to win and OSU played not to lose. Pathetic on Day’s part after the last two years.
Michigan's back up coach, out coached ryan day
Can someone tell me who was covering Michigan tightend today?
Playcalling too conservative
Bummer. I had OSU 27 - UM 17. Ugly.
I’m convinced Ohio State fans would be happy going 1-11 if their lone win was against Michigan.
🫣🧐🤣🤣🤣🤣
Which page in the notebook says “Kyle McChoked the chicken”? Page 69?
Thank you for the great insights and coverage all season. God bless.
Thx for another coverage season at PC : see u guys late Dec/Early Jan 2024
Day is an exceptional coach. But he has demonstrated a so far inexplicable knack for reaching for the wrong play at a critical time against this opponent.
He’s a good coach. But I’m not sure he’s right for this role.
What’s Ohio excuse this time??? Did Michigan steal signs??? Michigan is just a better team! GO BLUE💙💛
Curious => is Day’s house up for sale ?
Is anyone else ready to run their fist through their TV or am I by myself here?
What hapened to the agressive Day we saw in 2019-2020?!
Didn't have the qb talent to support his offense. Justin fields was pretty good 2019-2020.
I’ve noticed that Ryan is aggressive when he has a month to prepare for a team (2019 Clemson, 2020 Clemson, 2020 Alabama and 2022 Georgia) if he doesn’t get a month he coaches scared.
We had a QB that could execute his aggressive calls back then
It’s a trust thing. Day trusted fields and stroud. He doesn’t trust Kyle and it’s obvious why
"Not the way anyone expected" No Austin, it's not what YOU expected because you ignored and made excuses for Kyle all season, anyone with a brain saw Kyle was a major turnover liability every single game, combine that with UMs ability to catch the ball on INT chances and anyone who wasn't delusional saw this game going this exact same way.
McCord was:is a rookie QB. Growing pains should be expected.
@@GoldFoilDecendent He’s in year 3…
@@KeiFresh did he see any meaningful playing time before this season?? JJ played a bit against OSU in 2021. UM let a rookie QB play two plays today
@@GoldFoilDecendent what has he been doing in the summer, or on the practice field, or during training camp, or in the film room? He and Quinn Ewers came in at the same time, Ewers looked better last year, Maye is the same age and also looked better his first year as a sophomore, Caleb Williams is from the same class and looked better as a Freshman, Jalen Milroe is starting for the first time and unlike Kyle he’s improved over the season and brings something to table outside of passing
@@KeiFresh👀😳😂
Yall saying bring urban back but we would even average 20 points with urban as coach no offense
My God you guys with the excuses! If you catch a football than cross a goal line it's instantly a touchdown! If the ball is ripped out after the goal line is crossed that doesn't mean a thing lol. It's a score instantly when the ball hits the first mm of the line so I'm sure that will be this year's big attempt at an excuse seeing how every year you guys search for reasons other than you just got out coached and out played.
How in the world does Washington get Michael Penix in the portal but THE ohio state ends up with Kyle freaking McCord. That level of quarterback play is unacceptable for a program that's supposed to compete for national championships every year. McCarthy made McCord look like a pure bum out there. What a joke
Osu fans cant say shit about the
cheating anymore!! We had the
best defense weve had in years the
most talent weve had on offense in
years (except Mccord). They were
down their head coach and lost their
mist experienced lineman...UM IS
BIGGER ,FASTER, STRONGER, TOUGHER
than ohio state...period!
Osu will never win against them as long
as mccarthy is playing and as long as
Day has a pro-style QB
PRO STYLE QBs DO NOT WORK IN COLLEGE!!!
I love the Buckeyes and their coaches but really hate about 1/3 of the fans. They're mindless, probably drunk zealots who are now screaming to fire Ryan Day. The guy has only lost 6 games in his years with us and has taken OSU into the top four teams in CFB year after year. He recruits brilliantly and he was saddled, this year, with an injured and (IMO) poor QB. With no back ups. We were still the Number 2 team in the country. Last year, one missed kick away from a National Championship. Who do people think will do better? What coach will do better than that? Look at the NFL, which is Buckeye-land on Sundays, to see what a great coach Day is.
Should have caught it but in ebuekas defense that dropped pass was a little behind him and at his thigh..should of been caught but damn I'm sick odd seeing McCord throw bad balls in super pivotal points in the game..and day calls plays like a scared kid.. the situations are too big for that guy
Main Reasons Ohio State lost.
1. 30 Points... again 30 Points.. you don't deserve to win when you give up 30 points. Just cause it's better than past 2 years, you have to hold your opponent to under 24 pts. #35 was Horrible and missed so many tackles. #6 Styles was only slightly better. Again 0 TO's from the defense and continued to give up 3-6 yards on most Run plays. Couldn't stop UM on final drive and gave up extra 3. That 3 could of been a difference on the final 30 seconds of play calling. So much for Jim Knowles defense.. it still didn't show up in the big game!
2. Mc Cord. His Freshman Status showed up. 2 TO's hurt. 1st led to a UM TD and last on final drive where he held the ball 1 second too long. He didn't play horrible but this is what happens to freshman QBs.. they make mistakes, especially at the end of games. He survived @ND but he was due.. he's also had 5 INTS in last 5 games which is avg for a avg QB.
3. Ryan Day... While he's not the main reason. .he's still the Head Coach. His #1 Priority is to beat UM. It was hard for him to do with with a Freshman QB but he didn't do enough short slants or WR Runs. He still might get to the playoffs if FSU loses vs Louisville and UGA beats BAMA but he has to win a playoff game or BOWL game. If not.. then next season will be his last if he loses to UM and doesn't make the CFCG (not just only playoffs). To do this.. Ohio States DEFENSE needs to show up @ home next year and only give up 23 pts or less and get at least 1 TO!!!
lol explain to me you don’t know football complaining about the Wilson td. lol at best case for OSU it was dual possession before crossing the goal line, that goes to the offense. After crossing the line nothing else matters, they went to the ground before Burke came up with it. But guess what he crossed the goal line first. Stop your crying JT was still short.
… that should have not have been a turnover.
Qb has to throw better and also help is line out
Day lost this game again. OLine didn’t block on the final drive of the game!!
What??? Only time they didnt was on the very last play. Can’t put this on the O-Line at all.
@@willellis502 that’s what I was referring to
😭😭😭
And just like that the season down the drain
Yep. But at least Ryan beats Purdue and Iowa, guys!
I'm a huge fan of duel threat QBs unfortunately Ryan Day isn't
Michigan was more physical & smarter ..stop ur excuses 🥕 top
3 in a row. That’s a pattern. Hot tub Time Machine 1990’s.
The nineties were pretty good
Wow Ohio State fans saying they're not getting the calls 2016 maybe but to explain it to you and all your Ohio State fans he had control of the ball and passed over the goal line actually the ball just touched the goal line once that happened the play was over anyone who watches football knows those are the rules guy with a notebook Ohio State fans keep the excuses coming ur gonna need em for a long time😅 p.s your notebook is filled with lies
Tired of losing to these dudes. We got out coached more than out played, Mich even ran the same fakes and gadget plays. Just embarrassing
I’m familiar with this feeling. Hang tough. Go Blue
Defense as usual not good enough stop the other team when needed.
We have good players that’s it we need game changers and we don’t have that!
People are giving Knowles WAY too much of a pass.
They were, but not when the offense cannot move the ball consistently, causing the defense to get tired. Just remember, that is how they won at Penn State.
Here I'll explain the Wilson TD for you. If you are already in the end zone and you catch the ball then yes you must survive the ground. However Wilson caught the ball at the 2 yard line took 2 steps which means he's an established runner thus once he breaks the plane of the goal line it's a touchdown.
The same as when you hand the ball off and a runner dives over the top of reaches out as soon as he breaks the plane of the goal line it's a TD.
On the final drive the "2 step rule" (established runner) benefited OSU massively on the fumble play before the McCord threw the int. The refs were consistent with that call as they should be.
Chip and X were able to run on UM defense
This team doesn’t have an emotional leader on the field and McCord isn’t a top 15 college QB, there is no room for error when you have a lower level game manager who isn’t an athlete at QB. You have to be able to move or be phenomenal at moving in the pocket.
Freshman... he shows it... he will get better each year (we hope) OSU will probably beat UM next year.. but only if the Defense gets better. Everyone was talking up OSU defense but what Offensive did OSU play this year that is good in the BG10? UM was probably it and they gave up 30 points.. 30 pts.. hmm I don't care what we score but if you give up 30 points.. and get 0 TO's on defense.. you DESERVE to Lose!!
Yall are crazy if Ryan day get fired who will replace him ?
A tight coach=tight playing team. Anyone who still believes Ryan Day is aggressive or a good in-game coach is foolish. That being said I don’t think he should be let go but these things have to be fixed.
You don’t understand the TD that wasn’t an interception..Wilson came down with the ball and crossed the goal line…TD at that exact moment.
That's actually not how it works
@@ianw.9185…hmmm, actually it is.
@larrymorris4481 lmao ok, guy. go watch the end of the Steelers v packers game from a couple years ago. It's different when there's a catch and "football move" that occurs subsequently - even when crossing the goal line
Had that call been an interception, it would have stood.
@@larrymorris4481 you should tell Joel Klatt, who apparently doesn't know football nearly as well as you do 🤡
@@ianw.9185, don’t need to watch a game from years back.
He caught the ball had possession of the ball and crossed the goal line.
TD..
All that’s needed…
Once he broke the plane, it was a TD.
Part ways with Day. He can go coach New Hampshire !!
You just said that you don't think that he is not maximizing his ability to get Ohio State across the finish line. That right there, should tell you everything you need to know about Day. Keep Knowles, the defense played well, just got tired, but Day needs to step away. Bring back Urban, and throw him what he wants, so we can keep him healthy too.
Also good riddance Steele Chambers, dude can’t fill the right gap ever
He was Loser of the game #35. He was HORRIBLE.. he looked like he should of been playing for USC. He was lost, miss tackles.. just really really BAD. He was the weakest guy out there by Far. Styles played almost as bad but #35 Chambers I hear is still running around UM field in a daze
U only could wish for his Talent! Dont know what u are talking about U CHEATER! Go Meet Conner Stallion! DISGRACE !
No one going to bring up Jesse Mirco....you could pin this whole game on that dude. He was terrible!!
They are just aweful. So soft.
For those who may not have been born in the 1990s, this is exactly how the 90s felt with OSU. Watching Ryan Day morph into John Cooper before our very eyes.
In every sense. Undefeated seasons. Beating Norte Dame. Beating every other BIG10 team on the schedule. A NFL draft pick factory. Yet, a loser to TTUN!!! Ohio State out of town head coaches & QB1s may not “get” the rivalry!!!
I don't think the future looks bright either. We're in trouble.
No Brown Tebow package, No pop passes, No Henderson pitches and swing passes to get in space, McCord forced ball to unopen Marvin, missed FG, refs not reversing TD to INT, no pressure on McCarthy. All avoidable. Not just players but coaching not being aggressive and playing not to lose instead of win.
Snitches get stitches go blue!
People bashing KmC: focus some of that ire on the coordinator making $2 mil a year to stop the opposing offense. Knowles failed abysmally today. Period.
OSU mistakes or forced Michigan turnovers? Enjoy the orange bowl vs Louisville
COPE
Playoff is out of the question!!
Kyle McCord was bad... nothing new here
Ryan day makes 10 million for that crappy proformance!!! He and Jim Knowles way overpaid!!!! If Kyle mcord is quarterback next year.... boycott every game untill he is replaced!!! 60 years of watching...terrible...
tough teams don't have to tell people they are tough.
Ohio shouldn't play in the playoffs your not playing for the big ten championship ans a #3 beat a #2 if Michigan lost know way they playing for a natty....
you are not going to get that call in the end zone by the referees BUT what bothers me is that it was not even reviewed, why not?
It was reviewed. The call was not confirmed, but the call stood
The team showed very little if any emotion during the game. Played as if they were robots. Oline got manhandled again. Day seemed to play conservative.
Ryan and McCord cost us the game.
What happened to your boy Austin? I thought Kyle was suppose the greatest quarterback that’s ever been man?
Yeah. Literally no one has ever said that, or anything even close to that
I truly want one of his colleagues to ask him why he has a hard time accepting the truth about his boy. But he blamed special teams as a big reason and not the play of the defense on that last drive or HIS QB
And C.J. sold his soul to Tom Brady. WTF and still didn't have his back
every suckeye video goes out of their way to bring up the "cheating scandal". keep grasping for excuses - i'm sure that's exactly what your program needs to do in order to stop the losing streak. also, quit whining about the roman wilson TD. the fumbled pass reception on the last drive was equally in the gray area and that call also didn't get reversed, to your benefit.
Cry baby cry. You & cryin Ryan can find a dark room put the film on with a 5th of whiskey & drowned your sorrows while you cry about it. It was a TD catch no doubt watch it over & over again though
It was a 6 point victory. You can say it’s about Day, the defense etc etc. McCord turned the ball over early, and Michigan got the momentum and score they needed to win. Period. Kyle McCord IS NOT AN ELITE QB. And Ryan Day absolutely needs to dial up more explosive plays, and stop the conservative play calling. But that’s not what lost the game. McCord lost the game. He’s been 50/50 all year, and he was the exact same this game. He lost it for Ohio State.
Ryan Day needs to go. All of the great players he’s had and he can’t beat Michigan who has 15th ranked recruiting classes and had Fat Albert coach today. What an embarrassment.
