  • Just picked up my BRP Apache Backcountry Tracks today & began the install. This video is an initial comparison video of the Camso 4S Tracks I've been running for 9 years and the New BRP Apache Backcountry Tracks. These tracks are BAD TO THE BONE !!!
    I'll be doing another video of the track bracket installs along with some of things I've done in preparation for running the Backcountry Tracks.
    I'll have to wait for a while until we get some snow to get some riding videos of them & my first impressions of them out on the snow. So Stay Tuned.
    Hope you Enjoy This Video.

    Wow Gunny those really are amazing, Congrats!
    No question the added height etc will have benefits but I am very interested to see how you compare them to your old set after using them in the snow for overall likes and maybe dislikes.
    Thanks for sharing this and look forward to your future videos.
    Cheers, Pete

      Thank You Dark Horse Guy !!
      Yes, I'm very interested to try them out & compare them myself. I hope these new tracks are everything I envision. One thing with the new tracks is I'll have to watch where I ride in the trees. And when I got the longer rear track for the Tatou's, I noticed they would have a tendency to push me through turns. These new tracks are even longer, and wider, so they may really want to push me thru any type of sharp turning situation.
      Thank You for stopping in to check out the video My Friend ...

    WoooHooo! Gunny! That thing is extremely beastly now! Sure hope you don't fall off though because you could break a hip!! 😳 Those sure are aggressive looking compared to the old tracks. Do you have to do any clutching changes for them or is that what the bigger sprockets are supposed to do? Can't wait to see you out in the snow with those babies. Nice!

      @GunnyE9  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      YEAH BUDDY !!!! Hell, just to get off the bike to get into the rear cargo box to get at my lunch could be a real challenge as well. HAHAHAHAHA !!!
      Nope, no clutching changes. The drive sprocket is designed like the other track systems to get the bike moving.

      Hey, I have a horse trainer coming in next week to teach me just that ... I have have to have a folding step ladder to carry around with me so I can get up on the floorboard .... HAHAHAHAHA !!!

    After 1 year testing, what is your verdict about snow performance comparaison between both track kits? Do you have a comparative video? Ground clairance is good, but also affects center of gravity and may affects hill climbing performance. Your feedback? Have a good day!

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for checking out the video Tommy Guy !! OK, so after two snow season on the Backcountry Tracks, WOW !! They are just amazing IMO. I think they pull a guy thru deep snow much better than the Tatou's. And they climb like crazy. You should watch the video of the first track ride with the BCT's ... th-cam.com/video/XrD30oNWnfU/w-d-xo.html ... it's dated 27 Dec 2017. And pay particular attention at the 7:41 mark.
      The ground clearance is amazing & lets a guy go thru much deeper snow without dragging bottom & getting high centered/stuck !!
      As far as center of gravity issues, it's really not an issue. Remember, you're on snow On 13 1/2 & 14 inch wide tracks, way different then being on tires & the hill climbing performance is awesome. Watch this video & the hill I climb at the 9:14 mark ... and this video th-cam.com/video/3eipp-x2au8/w-d-xo.html at the 12:26 mark .... Hell, just watch all my video's !!! ...... HAHAHAHA !!!
      The one drawback to the Backcountry tracks however is, ... I don't ride them in any dirt or on any asphalt (if possible) like I did the Tatou's. You treat these tracks like it's a sled, which the tracks are designed after. So there is that to consider.
      Bottom line, I wouldn't go back to the Tatou's ... for where I ride. And I will say, there's nothing really wrong with the Tatou's, they are a great set of 4 seasons tracks that A guy can have a blast on. Again, THANKS for watching the video !!!

      @@GunnyE9 Thank you too for your feedback! Nice video and very good performances! Here in Quebec some people install UTV 4S1 track kit on large cc machine like BRP Outlander 1000, scrambler 1000. They say it's much better than ATV T4S tracks. I would like to compare both products with same machine and same riders skills in deep snow. The day I will try Backcountry, I will give you a feedback! Have a good day!

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tleduc69, I too would like to do a side by side comparison with tracks. My problem is, I've been riding tracks for 9 years & ride mostly alone. I do have a friend who lives in Kansas & has some Kimpex tracks on his Outlander 800. I was hoping he would come out for a couple weeks last year (winter of 2018-2019) so we could compare the tracks a little, but he couldn't make it. Hopefully he'll be out this winter.
      Here's hoping you can get out with some Backcountry tracks & someone else with some other tracks & give us all some feed back how well the tracks did side by side.
      Thanks, and you have a Great Day as well !!!

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Red Truck Guy ... I bought the Backcountry Tracks and I really like'em. Trying to decide between the Apache LT's & the Backcountrys would be a tough decision. I will say thou, if where you live you get a lot of snow, I'd go Backcountry. To help you decide thou, you ought to watch all my vids with the Backcountry Tracks, & watch the review I do too ... it might help you decide with tracks system to buy. Thanks for check'in out this video. Good Luck ... And PRAY FOR SNOW !!!!

    • @timking2194
      @timking2194 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m on the fence too about which tracks to buy. Only run tracks in the winter but I plow some driveways that require some pavement running to get to them. I had camso on my last machine but now I bought a new can Am 800. Not sure if I should try the Apache lt this time or but new Tatous .really want the back country for the xtra flotation and the better ability to play in deep snow. Can you add more wheels so it dosent rely on the sliders as much. Any good information would help. Not much information out there and the dealers are clueless about them. Thanks Tim

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@timking2194, did see your comment/question until today, so I apologize for such a long wait.
      I use to plow snow with my Tatou's, but when I bought the Backcountry Tracks, I bought a snowblower. I personally would not plow with the Backcountry Tracks. I added 4 bogie wheels to the rear tracks, but I don't think that's enough to get the tracks off of the slides. And looking at the slides, I don't think you could add more or many more bogie wheels anyway. So, if plowing with your ATV is a priority, you probably would be better off with the Tatou's or one of the other Apache track systems. That's my thoughts anyway.
      Thanks for watching the video & Good Luck picking out a set of tracks.

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you enjoyed the video Marnie ... You know, if you got these tracks right into the mud, where it was wet & soft, I think they would work. Might not be good for them but I think they would work. It would be any dry terrain type riding that would be extremely hard on them since the slides are like a snowmobiles & need moisture to stay cool.
      Again, glad you enjoyed the video and THANKS for watch'in !!!

    How reliable are these tracks?

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for check'in out the video Austin Guy. I've had these Backcountry Tracks going on the 4th season. Used on hard pack, in deep powder, a little bit on asphalt & a little dirt & mud (in the staging area parking lot), on cement at my home & I haven't had one issue with them & they still look like new. So IMO, they're great tracks & hold up as well as any other track or brand out there. And they really go thru the deep stuff. The added ground clearance is a major improvement for getting around in the deep stuff & not getting stuck.

    Hello, what is the length and width of the Outlander MAX with these tracks?

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Категория А Guy ... Thanks for checking out the video. OK, I just went out & measured my bike. The approx length, from the paddle height on the front trrack to the paddle height on the rear track is approx 323cm (127 inches) & approx 140cm wide (55 inches).
      Now I made & added some 13cm (5 inch) wide fender extenders to keep some of the flying snow down. (And they do help to some degree). With those fender extenders on, the bike at it's widest point is approx 147cm wide (58 inches).
      Hope that helps. PRAY FOR SNOW !!!!

      Tell me please, what is the gas mileage with these tracks?

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a hard one because it depends on a three things. 1) How soft or deep is the snow one is riding in. 2) How fast one drives. 3) How much climbing one is doing.
      Also, unless you are riding on hard packed snow, you should ride in low range with these tracks. I learned that the hard way by blowing a belt after riding all day in deep snow & having to change it out in deep snow.. But no problems while riding in low range.
      I carry about 23 liters of extra fuel when I ride. I've never used it all, but that's the amount of extra fuel I carry. I usually average between 56 and 81 km a day when I ride. And I ride a mixture of hard pack & deep soft snow.

    It's not really comparing Apple's to Apple's though because the old tracks are made for 4 season use and the new ones are for snow only.

    • @GunnyE9
      @GunnyE9  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new tracks are RECOMMENDED for snow only. Nothing says I can't use them in the dirt if I so choose. AND, I was comparing the two sets of tracks "I" have. But regardless, I doubt any other "Snow Only" advertised tracks brand would be as good as these in the snow. But hey, what do I know, I just put'em on the bike & I'm enjoying the hell out of them ... compared to the 4 season tracks I had ... that I used in the snow only ... for 9 yrs.
